Teddington is a suburb in south-west London in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. In 2021, Teddington was named as the best place to live in London by The Sunday Times. Historically in Middlesex, Teddington is situated on a long meander of the Thames between Hampton Wick and Strawberry Hill, Twickenham. Mostly residential, it stretches from the river to Bushy Park with a long high street of shops, restaurants and pubs. There is a suspension bridge over the lowest non-tidal lock on the Thames, Teddington Lock. At Teddington's centre is a mid-rise urban development, containing offices and apartments.

10 Most Hated Towns in England

What are the most hated towns in England? No matter how good a country is, every part of it can’t be loved equally. In fact, some parts of it are bound to be hated. Even the most fanatic lover of a country will love some parts of it less than others. I have heard some people complaining about some towns in England, the home of the Queen that some people are dying to live and work in. That prompts research into the 10 most hated towns in England.
This ranking is based mainly on the comments and complaints of residents of England and visitors to those towns. But it’s not limited to that since some complaints can be completely baseless. We dig deeper in researching these 10 most hated towns in England.
10. Slough
Let’s begin with Slough, a town in Berkshire, within the historic county of Buckinghamshire. This town is 20 miles west of central London and 19 miles northeast of Reading. You will find the town in the Thames Valley and within the London metropolis around the area at the intersection of the M4.
In spite of its location, Slough according to those visitors, is a town whose streets are littered with empty takeaway and full of packets or empty beer cans. This assertion hasn’t been contradicted by even just one resident. The quality of food in the town’s restaurants appears, kind of, made for losers who’re just out to eat as much unhealthy food as they can get away with.
9. Scunthorpe
It’s not desirable to find Scunthorpe among the most hated towns in England. Unfortunately, we can’t afford to take it out of our list because the facts obviously place it there. This industrial town in the unitary authority of North Lincolnshire should normally be the pride of Lincolnshire as its main administrative center. But the town with an estimated population of 82,334 in 2016 had many things going against it.
Residents of the UK’s largest steel processing center, also known as the Industrial Garden Town, are frustrated by a lack of the liveliness and diversity in the town only known for work. However, the loudest grouse that lists Scunthorpe alongside the most hated towns in England is the indiscriminate censorship and blocking of websites for spurious reasons.

Places to see in ( Richmond upon Thames - UK )

Places to see in ( Richmond upon Thames - UK )

Richmond upon Thames in south-west London, England, forms part of Outer London and is the only London borough on both sides of the River Thames. Richmond upon Thames was created in 1965 when three smaller council areas amalgamated under the London Government Act 1963. It is governed by Richmond upon Thames London Borough Council.

Richmond upon Thames is home to the National Physical Laboratory and the attractions of Kew Gardens, Hampton Court Palace, Twickenham Stadium and the WWT London Wetlands Centre that draw domestic and international tourism. Parks take up a great deal of the Richmond upon Thames and include Richmond Park, Bushy Park, Kew Gardens, and Hampton Court Park. There are over 100 parks and open spaces within its boundary and 21 miles (34 km) of river frontage. 140 hectares within the borough are designated as part of the Metropolitan Green Belt.

Richmond upon Thames is home to the National Physical Laboratory and the attractions of Hampton Court Palace, Twickenham Stadium and the WWT London Wetlands Centre that draw domestic and international tourism. The river Thames becomes narrower than at any part of Inner London towards its flow into the borough and becomes non-tidal at Teddington Lock in the borough; its main axis runs south to north, rather than west to east through more than half of the Richmond upon Thames .

Richmond upon Thames is served by many Transport for London bus routes. Richmond upon Thames is connected to central London and Reading by the National Rail services of South West Trains. The London Underground's District line serves Richmond and Kew Gardens stations: both are also served by London Overground trains on the North London Line. The other stations are: Barnes; Barnes Bridge; Fulwell; Hampton; Hampton Wick; Mortlake; North Sheen; St Margarets; Strawberry Hill; Teddington; Twickenham and Whitton.

The Twickenham Museum is a volunteer-run museum opposite St Mary's parish church. The Museum of Richmond, in Richmond's Old Town Hall, close to Richmond Bridge, has displays relating to the history of Richmond, Ham, Petersham and Kew. Orleans House Gallery in Twickenham displays material from the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames' art collection. Garrick's Temple to Shakespeare in Hampton hosts a free Sunday afternoon Shakespeare exhibition from April to October and a series of summer drama, music and exhibitions.

Richmond has two theatres. The Richmond Theatre at the side of Little Green is a Victorian structure designed by Frank Matcham and restored and extended by Carl Toms in 1990. The theatre has a weekly schedule of plays and musicals, usually given by professional touring companies, and pre-West End shows can sometimes be seen. There is a Christmas and New Year pantomime tradition and many of Britain's greatest music hall and pantomime performers have appeared here. Close to Richmond railway station is the Orange Tree Theatre which was founded in 1971 in a room above the Orange Tree pub. The Cabbage Patch pub on London Road near Twickenham railway station has, since 1983, been a regular venue for live music on Sunday nights, organised by TwickFolk.

Teddington is an affluent suburban area in south west London in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. Until 1965, it was in the historic county of Middlesex. Teddington is on the north bank of the Thames, just after the start of a long meander, between Hampton Wick and Strawberry Hill, Twickenham. Mostly residential, it stretches from the Thames to Bushy Park with a long high street reaching down to pubs, restaurants, leisure premises, fields and fitness clubs by the riverside, having a pedestrian suspension bridge over the lowest non-tidal lock on the Thames, Teddington Lock. Teddington's centre is mid-rise urban development.

Teddington is bisected by an almost continuous road of shops, offices and other facilities running from the river to Bushy Park. There are two clusters of offices on this route; on the edge of Bushy Park the NPL, NMO and LGC form a scientific centre. Around Teddington Station and the town centre are a number of offices in industries such as direct marketing and IT, which include Tearfund and BMT Limited. Several riverside businesses and houses were redeveloped in the last quarter of the 20th century as blocks of riverside flats. As of 2016 the riverside side of the former Teddington Studios is being developed to provide modern apartment blocks and other smaller houses.

The first/last lock on the Thames, Teddington Lock, which is just within Ham's boundary, is accessible via the Teddington Lock Footbridges. In 2001 the RNLI opened the Teddington Lifeboat Station, one of the four Thames lifeboat stations, below the lock on the Teddington side. The station became operational in January 2002 and is the only volunteer station on the river.

Teddington railway station is on the long-electrified Kingston Loop Line close to the junction of the Shepperton Branch Line. Trains run both ways to London Waterloo: one way via Kingston upon Thames and Wimbledon every 15 minutes, the other via Richmond and Putney every 30 minutes. Trains also run to Shepperton every 30 minutes. Teddington is served by buses to other London locations, including London Heathrow, West Croydon and Hammersmith

Teddington Studios, a digital widescreen television studio complex and one of the former homes of Thames Television, opened in 1958. Most major rebuilding from bomb damage in World War II was completed by 1960. Chain stores began to open up, including Tesco and Sweatshop in 1971.

Teddington Lock - Thames Bridges ep.4

The Teddington Lock footbridges are the next crossing on our journey from Hampton Court to the QE2.

This week Matt takes us through the history and engineering of the bridge, while Mark talks about the aesthetics. Both give the bridge a rating out of 10 one for engineering and the other for aesthetics

Remember to give the video a thumbs up, subscribe and take the survey to help us with the popularity rating.

The crossing at Teddington Lock is composed of two footbridges connected by an island. Both bridges were constructed in the years 1887 through '89, funded by donations from local residents and businesses as well as local government. The western bridge is an Iron suspension bridge, whilst the eastern bridge is an Iron Girder Bridge, with a larger height, allowing taller vessels to pass under.
The blue and white painted iron work of the western suspension bridge makes it very pleasant to look at. The blue paint and green trees provide a sharp contrast enabling the bridge to stand out and catch your attention. The eastern bridge is much simpler, just being an iron girder, but it is still nice to look at because of the same blue paint job. I said last week that the Kingston Rail bridge looked dark and dirty because of its grey painted iron work. The Teddington lock bridge shows how much difference a bit of colour can make.
This crossing here uses two footbridges of different design and an island, which is quite a unique, and pleasing, setup. Suspension bridges had first been pioneered at the start of the century and designer G.Pooley made use of the technology for the longer stretch over the weir stream, for the shorter stretch over the lock cut he used a single span truss bridge. The latter structure reused materials from a temporary bridge erected at Hammersmith, it's good to see that even the Victorians had some notion of the need to recycle!

[4K] Travel to England and Explore Bushy Park with Laura as Your Tour Guide ????????

???? Bushy Park is one of London’s eight amazing and beautiful Royal Parks, located in Hampton, which is immediately North of Hamptons Court Palace, which is about 40 minutes away from Guildford, said Laura.

Bushy Park itself, covering an amazing 1,100 acres of parkland provides beautiful green spaces right in the center of the Capital where you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city. It is famed for its mix of waterways, gardens and grasslands, history, wildlife, and of course its roaming herds of around 320 Red and Fallow Deer.

Besides all of the nature and animals that come with Bushy park, there is a lot of history too starting off with Henry the 8th taking over Hamptons Court Palace and naming 3 of the Royal parks, one being Bushy Park where you will find a beautiful Fountain called the Diana Fountain, you will not be able to miss its bronze, seventeenth-century look, surrounded with a lovely pool and mile-long tree lines. It was originally created for the Roman Goddess Diana for Somerset House in the 1630s.
