Tauberbischofsheim is a German town in the north-east of Baden-Württemberg on the river Tauber with a population of about 13,200. It is the capital of the Main-Tauber district. It is a popular tourist destination due to its numerous historical buildings, including substantial remains of the medieval town fortifications.
Tauberbischofsheim is located in the Tauberfranken region of Franconia on the river Tauber.
Tauberbischofsheim über der Tauberbrücke ist ein in der Kernstadt Tauberbischofsheim aufgegangener Wohnplatz im Main-Tauber-Kreis im fränkisch geprägten Nordosten Baden-Württembergs.
Der in der Kernstadt Tauberbischofsheim aufgegangene Wohnplatz umfasst die Häuser auf der rechten Seite der Tauber.

Вопреки внушительному названию Таубербишофсхайм – город маленький и малоизвестный. Здесь не происходило ни важных сражений, ни великих открытий. Его история длиннее, чем у многих европейских городов, но бедна событиями. И всё же назвать его скучным местом не поворачивается язык. Сюда приезжают миллионы туристов. Одни едут ради того, чтобы увидеть хорошо сохранившуюся историческую часть, другие – ради гастрономических впечатлений, ну а третьим интересны многочисленные замки в окрестностях.
Поселение в долине реки Таубер ведёт свою историю с VIII столетия. Начало ему положил женский монастырь, основанный епископом Бонифацием в 735 году. Первой аббатисой стала родная сестра проповедника. До наших дней дошло одно из зданий монастырского комплекса, в котором сегодня работает мэрия.
Любопытно, что в Таубербишофсхайме весьма трепетно относятся к спорту. В 11 секциях местного спортклуба занимается каждый шестой житель города (всего более двух тысяч человек)! А нынешний глава МОК, бывший фехтовальщик Томас Бах является почётным гражданином Таубербишофсхайма. Поддерживать здоровый образ жизни горожанам и гостям города помогают более 200 километров пешеходных и велосипедных троп, которые проложены в окрестностях Таубербишофсхайма. Таубербишофсхайм – одно из тех мест, которое несмотря на скромные размеры, умеет порадовать жадных до впечатлений туристов. И он стоит того, чтобы включить его в маршрут путешествия по южной части Германии.

Romantic Road, Germany - Travel Video
Founded in 1950 as a tourist project, the Romantic Road is a 460km route through charming German villages. It runs from Würzburg to Füssen.
What's cool about it? It takes you on a journey through a wealth of history, art, cuisine, and Western culture - while the landscape changes along the way from north to south.
As you travel the 29 cities along the route, I can assure you: it is impossible not to fall in love and be fascinated by the almost time travel.
There are other impressive routes in Germany - it is true - such as the Fairytale Route and the Lake District Route. But the Romantic Route is the oldest and most popular (or still the most loved) of them all.
Here's a curiosity: do you know why the Romantic Route has this name?
Because many German romantic poets of the 18th and 19th centuries found their inspiration in the little towns on the route. Not only them, in fact: Walt Disney was also inspired there. Neuschwanstein Castle on the outskirts of Füssen is the starting point for Cinderella's Castle - and the town Rothenburg, in turn, inspired him in the creation of Pinocchio.
The route begins in Wüzrburg and ends in the Bavarian* town of Füssen.About 30 cities make up the Romantic Route in Germany.

The Slaws are on their late summer trip around Germany with Billy and Jessie their Lhasa Apso dogs, in their Hobby motorhome Helga @HobbyCaravan
They are driving the Romantic Road in Southern Germany and spent yesterday in Würzburg at a Weingut and stayed overnight on a stellplatz.
The weather turns today and it's a rainy visit to Tauberbischofsheim where Slaw meets a long lost Dublin cousin (????) - Christian Sullivan who owns the Klosterhof Cafe and Bistro.
When they arrive at Rothenburg ob der Tauber it's torrential rain and this jeopardises the highlight of the day!
After F1 quali, the rain bates and the Slaws head into town to the Imperial City Medieval Festival. It's a fabulous occasion, only slightly marred by the dreadful weather ????
It doesn't stop the Slaws enjoying themselves though with beer, bratwurst and a St Bernard's waltz. Where is Angela when Mrs Slaw needs her ????

De Romantische Straße loopt door Beieren van Würzburg in het noorden naar Füssen in het zuiden. Een deel van de route loopt ook door Baden-Württemberg en daar rijden we een deel van tussen Wertheim en Tauberbischofsheim.
