Nandurbar district (Marathi pronunciation: [nən̪d̪uɾbaːɾ]) is an administrative district in the northwest corner of Maharashtra state in India . On 1 July 1998 Dhule was bifurcated as two separate districts now known as Dhule and Nandurbar. Nandurbar is a tribal-dominated district , The district headquarters are located at Nandurbar city. The district occupies an area of 5955 km2 and has a population of 1,648,295 of which 16.71% were urban (as of 2011)
Nandurbar district is bounded to the south and south-east by Dhule district, to the west and north is the state of Gujarat, to the north and north-east is the state of Madhya Pradesh. The northern boundary of the district is defined by the great Narmada river.
Ranjana Sonawane of Tembhli village and rushil in Nandurbar district became first citizen of India to get twelve (12) digit Unique Identification on 29 September 2010. The unique identification or Aadhaar is ambitious project of the central government of India to provide unique identification to its billion plus citizens.
Nandurbar is a part of Satpuda Pradesh, meaning Seven Hills Region. The district was part of the district with Dhule and Jalgaon till July 1998. The ancient name of this region is Rasika, when Nandurbar was also called Nandanagri after the name of its king Nandaraja.
The district is also rich with mythological accounts of the Ramayana, where the region is referred to as 'Krushik'.
The region is linked to various rulers of the time including bhil , Chalukyas, Vartakas and Yadavas.
Prior to Mughal era, formed the southern boundary of the Tughlaq Empire.
In the Jadavrao Era Yaduvanshi rulers, Nandurbar became Part of West Khandesh in 1400s.

Hi,
When you are planning to visit Tadoba, Please follow few tips which is shared by me can help you to plan better.
1) Tadoba is about 4 hours journey from Nagpur.
2) The most of Tiger spotting happens in Summer season which is from April to June 1st week . The Tadoba gates close during rainy season. Winter has good climate to enjoy the cool breeze however the ratios to see the Tiger would be identically 4:1 which mean if you do 4 safari you might see a tiger.
3) As mention Tadoba is divided to 6 core and about 14 buffer gates. There are additional gate recently added hence number might varies.
4) When you book the Safari please note this need to book about 2 months before though now I observe the offical website indicate that you can book safaris about 120 days in advance. Each gate varies with number of gypsy safari vehicle . identically each gate has about 2 to 6 Gypsy go for safari. Each Gypsy has facility for 6 traveler and cost about Rs.4575/- There is Canter vehicle option also there in core gate in which 22 traveler seat.
5) mytadoba.org is the official website through which I have booked all my Tadoba safari.
6)You can take help of Local Traveler guide Mubarak bhai is contact number is +918055985821.
7) For MTDC resort you can take help of Shashank who is MTDC resort employee and very helpful. His contact number is +918668389580.Identicaly you can book MTDC resort Tadoba 2 months prior your traveling so you will be able to get room which ranges between Rs.4100 to Rs5800 + GST taxes. The MTDC offers both veg and non veg food and breakfast is included in package.

The Shinde/Scindia (Sarpatils) of Khandesh.[3][4][5] Who came from Amirgarh (Present in Rajasthan) as Rao of West Khandesh in and 14th century. In past they are Rai Amirgarh and ancestors of Sindh's Royal Family. They control Khandesh from Laling fort and Dhanur & Dhule Towns. In 1600s Jadhavrao lost ruling power against Mughal but after some time later Rao Shinde recaptured Khandesh with the help of Maratha Empire. In end of 1600s they came under Maratha Empire lead by Chhatrapati Sambhaji and after some year later they lost the Administrative and Ruler power against Mughal Empire lead by Aurangzeb in war.
Maratha rule
Maratha raids into Khandesh began in 1670 with Shinde's Rao of West Khandesh and the following century was a period of unrest as Mughals and Marathas competed for control.[6]: 418 In 1760, the Peshwa ousted the Mughal ruler and gained control of Khandesh, following which portions were granted to Holkar and Shinde/Scindia rulers.[6]: 418 Baji Rao II surrendered to the British in June 1818, but sporadic war continued in Khandesh which was among the last of the Peshwa's former territories to come under complete British control
Prakasha village, which is around 15 km south-west of Shahada, is the second most important excavation site in Maharashtra. In 1955 B K Thapar on behalf of Archaeological Survey of India excavated site near confluence of Tapi River and Gomai River. Excavation exposed 17 meter deep occupational deposit – hammer stones, restricted use of copper, low grade bronze dating back to 1700 BC.[8] Around 6 km north of Shahada there are several centuries old sculptures complex in Gomai River. The main sculpture is popularly known as Mahavir sculpture and the entire sculptures complex is popularly known as Pandavleni or 'Panch Pandav'.[9] This evidence suggest that Shahada and area on the banks of Gomai River has been inhabited at least since 1700 BC. Shahada- municipality was established in the British period, in the year 1869. Shahada and bhada are the two locations of this area situated on the river bank Gomai.These names observed in local gurjar language meaning saadha bhada means simple.
