Cities of Slovenia | City of Ljubljana, Maribor, Piran, Portoroz | Drone 4k video | Slovenia

Cities of Slovenia. This video review tells about a small Balkan state - Slovenia. The video was filmed using a drone so that viewers can enjoy 4k bird's eye view of alpine meadows, ski resorts, the Adriatic coast, endless forests and monuments of medieval architecture.

general information
Slovenia is a relatively young and small state in Central Europe. Despite its size, it is located at the crossroads of the most important European routes. Recently, for tourists, it has become in great demand. This is due, first of all, to the fact that the cost of vacation in Slovenia is relatively small.

Capital
The capital of the country is the ancient city of Ljubljana. It was founded in the 12th century, and changed owners until 1920, until the state of Yugoslavia was formed, in which the city became the administrative center of the Slovenian part. In the post-war period, Ljubljana began to develop actively, and there was a rapid increase in population. In 1991, it was declared the capital of the newly independent Republic of Slovenia.

Climate
Despite the small size of the country, it has 3 climatic zones: Mediterranean, temperate continental and alpine. The minimum temperature in winter is from -10 degrees Celsius and +6 degrees on the coast. In summer, the temperature in the country does not rise above +27 degrees, but in the middle of the season in the coastal zone it is usually higher.

Nature
More than a third of the country is occupied by a nature protection zone. In the Triglav National Park and dozens of other landscape parks, you can enjoy the scenery. Among the rest of the diversity of the country's landscape: the high meadows of the Alps and a small stretch of the Adriatic coast. The nature of Slovenia is teeming with beautiful places that are fraught with a variety of flora and fauna, among which many representatives are included in the Red Book.

Main cities: Ljubljana, Maribor, Piran, Portorož
The capital Ljubljana is the largest city in Slovenia. Its history goes back about 10 centuries, but it was rebuilt more than once. There are practically no monuments of ancient times preserved on its territory, but almost the entire city is one large ensemble of Baroque and Art Nouveau, organically diluted with modern architecture.
Maribor - the second largest city in Slovenia - is especially attractive for skiers. Every year, not only crowds of athletes gather here, but also spectators for the Alpine Skiing World Cup. Another object of tourist attention is thermal springs and health centers.
Piran is located on the coast of the Adriatic Sea. It was formed on a source of salt, which initially became the start for its development. Now it is a full-fledged seaside resort with picturesque beaches and a small open-air museum.
Portorož, on the other hand, is a large and modern seaside resort. It does not have the charm of a small Venetian town, like Piran, but has a modern and high-quality infrastructure with luxurious hotels, restaurants and spa centers.

What to see
In the east of Slovenia, there is a source of healing water with the highest magnesium content. There is a legend that the spring carved the Pegasus horse with its hoof. It is located in the town of Rogaška Slatina. You can also find a dozen modern spa hotels there.
Alpine Lake Bled with an island in the middle attracts tourists with its picturesqueness. The water in the lake is always relatively warm, as the Alps do not let in cold winds even in winter. There is a small medieval castle on the coastal cliff. Nearby you can find the thermal spa of the same name.
You can also go to Postojna Pit - a system of karst caves with a tourist railway. There is an old underground post office. Before Christmas, a live nativity scene is held in the caves. Nearby is the Predjama Castle, connected to the caves by secret passages. These places have become a film set for many historical films.

Attractions
The whole of Ljubljana is one big attraction, but Ljubljana Castle can be especially highlighted. The castle rises on a hill. It became the action of many historical events, constantly passed from hand to hand. Now it often hosts classical music concerts.
For art lovers, the most significant place will be the National Gallery in Ljubljana. Here are collected the main objects of art of the Slovenian land from the Middle Ages to the 20th century.
The Otočec Castle is located 7 km from the town of Novo Mesto. This is a prime example of Romanesque architecture, which has undergone various changes, especially after the destruction during the Second World War.

SVETI TOMAŽ | Slovenia by Drone in 4K - DJI Mavic Air 2

This small village in Northeastern Slovenia is about an hour's drive from the capital Ljubljana. It used to bear the name 'Saint Thomas near Ormož', but shortened to 'Sveti Tomaž in back in 1993. My journey here started before sunrise. I took my rental car and found a spot right next to the church building that is the centerpiece of the village. My timing couldn't have been more perfect as I ascended above the clouds and caught the most dramatic of sunrises (the video doesn't do it justice). This is a small place to see but highly worth it in any Slovenian road trip you have planned!

Slovenia - The Magic Of Autumn

???? 2022/11 - NOAR Drone Film Fest Brazil - Nominee Landscape Category
???? 2022/10 - Jeju International Drone Film Festival - Winner 3rd Prize Landscape Category
???? 2022/07 - AirVūz - Winner Drone Video of the Week

An aerial journey through magical Slovenia during autumn.

Starting in Southern Styria - Austria, also called the Austrian Tuscany, just a few 100 meters away from the actual border. A region famous for its little wooden windmills, the so-called Klapotetz, which actually are used as scarecrows thanks to their rattling sound.

By crossing the border between Austria and Slovenia - only 100 meters behind - the first landmarks are already waiting to be discovered. Such as the famous Herzerlstrasse, the heart-shaped street between vineyards.

Traveling further into Slovenian land, more and more fascinating places await you: like Slovenia's most photographed church, Sveti Tomaz, up high in the mountains, surrounded my a sea of fog. Or another little but famous church - located at Jamnik - built on the top of a hill. And of course not to forget the majestic lake Bled, with its castle and monastery-island.

Autumn in Slovenia - truly magical and every photographers paradise.

Slovenia's Iconic Locations - Timelapse Video

Lake Bled with its iconic church island is probably the most visited and popular location in Slovenia. Most photographers dream about capturing it during wonderful light conditions as they do with another photographer's must see location - Jamnik Church on the spectacular mountain setting. Slovenia has many greatly positioned churches, so it is not a surprise that you'll see many photos of them, might it be Church Of St Primoz, Sveti Tomaž - St. Thomas's Church, Church of St. John the Baptist on shores on Bohinj Lake (Bohinjsko jezero) in Triglavski National Park, Assumption of Mary Pilgrimage Church - Cerkev Marijinega vnebovzetja on the island in the middle of the #Bled Lake, Parish Church of the Sacred Heart in Drežnica - Picturesque church built on site of older building dedicated to Saint Julius with spectactacular backdrop of Julian Alps with Krn mountain (Elevation: 2,244 m) . Vipavski Križ - Historical medieval town on small hill in Vipava Valley is one of most impressive cultural heritage monuments in country boasting well preserved castle remains. All this and more can be found in this timelapse with ending scene of panoramic view over Old Town with Ljubljana Castle standing on Castle Hill.

Sveti Tomaž Church, Slovenia 4k (Mavic Air)

Unreal locations in Slovenia #travel #slovenia #slovenija #sloveniatravel #vanlife #travelvlog

Slovenia is one of the most underrated countries in Europe
Two weeks was not enough time for a visit to a country with so many hidden gems. Here's a list below of some of our favorite stops.
1. Kozjak Waterfall: Nestled deep in the heart of Triglav National Park, the Kozjak waterfall is a hidden gem that's often overlooked by tourists. The waterfall is surrounded by lush greenery and crystal clear waters that create a dreamy atmosphere.
2. Sveti Tomaz Sunrise: Watching the sunrise from the top of Sveti Tomaz is an experience like no other. The mountain offers panoramic views of the Julian Alps and the surrounding valleys, and when the sun rises, the sky turns into a canvas of colours.
3. Pericnik Waterfall: Another magical waterfall in Slovenia, the Pericnik waterfall is a must-visit for nature lovers. What makes it unique is that you can actually walk behind the waterfall and see it from a different perspective. The sound of the water falling and the mist in the air create a surreal atmosphere that's hard to forget.
4. Predjama Castle: This medieval castle is built into the side of a cliff, making it one of the most unique castles in the world. The castle has a rich history and is filled with legends and myths. The most famous one is about the knight Erazem Lueger who lived in the castle and was eventually killed by his enemies while sitting on the toilet.
5. Lake Bled: Last but not least, Lake Bled is one of the most iconic places in Slovenia. The lake is surrounded by mountains and a medieval castle on a hilltop. The water is so clear that you can see the fish swimming, and the island in the middle of the lake adds to the charm. You can also take a traditional boat called a pletna to the island and ring the wishing bell.

Slovenia - Tra natura e città [ITA/Sub ENG, ITA, ESP]

In October 2022 I visited a country I had long desired to see, even though for a short period of time and that is Slovenia. I waited for autumn to come, in order to see this surprising and incredible land with the amazing foliage colours.

Churches and Mountains of Slovenia Part 1

In this video, the first of a series, I show you the first of many great viewpoints with churches and mountains in the scene. Slovenia has almost 3000 churches, so pretty much whenever you look at the mountains you can guarantee to see a church somewhere.

Therefore there are many great viewpoints where you can capture some amazing photos of the mountains here with and without a church in it. Additionally, many of these great viewpoints are just a short drive from the capital city of Ljubljana.

In this first video I take you to a church called the Church of Saint John in the little village of Hrase, with the Kamnik Alps mountains behind. Then it's on to a great viewpoint for photographing Mount Triglav in the far distant Julian Alps.

The Castles of Slovenia by Drone in 4K - DJI Mavic Air 2

This video is a compilation of some of the Slovenian castles I saw on my time in the country. I drove around the country for 10 days starting in Ljubljana, with stops at Sveti Tomaž, Celje, Ptuj, Maribor, Bled, throughout Triglav National Park, Koper, and Piran. I tried to document as much as I could and this is a short video of some of the castles I saw. Bear in mind that this video is no where near comprehensive and I would love to go back and capture the other castles I didn't get a chance to see.

Here are the timestamps of each castle in the video:

SLOVENIA by Drone in 4K - DJI Mavic Air 2

What a country this is! I took a 10 day trip, starting in Ljubljana and then rented a car to see as much as I could in Slovenia. From Ljubljana, I made stops at Sveti Tomaž, Celje, Ptuj, Maribor, Bled, throughout Triglav National Park, Koper, and Piran. I tried to document as much as I could with my camera and my drone and this video is the fruits of my labor. Hope you enjoy it!

If you would like to know where a certain place is, drop me a timestamp in the comments and I will let you know!

For some of the footage, which took place in the Triglav National Park, I applied for a permit. Flying within the part is heavily restricted but after exchanging a few emails, I was given permission to fly along parts of the Park that were near infrastructure. I am incredibly grateful for the Park authorities granting me this permit!

You can get a form to fill out, describing the dates you would like to fly and the places you would want to fly over from this email address: triglavski-narodni-park@tnp.gov.si. The fee was 26 euros for processing and took roughly a week to receive the permit.
