In September 2016, I travelled to North Korea to attend the country's first ever air show; Wonsan AirShow. It was the most exotic air show I have ever attended, with a line-up of the rare Soviet vintage fleet of Air Koryo, the usual off limits of the North Korean Air Force, many joy flights on Air Koryo and the possibility to meet with North Koreans freely at the air show.
The air show was an unqualified smash hit! showing off North Korea’s aviation scene and bringing together foreign visitors and locals without hindrance, for the first time in the country’s history.
In the video, I also share what's it like to fly on Air Koryo's exotic fleet. From the modern Tupolev 204 to the vintage classic IL-18, IL-62, IL-76 and Tu-154. It is definitely an exotic experience you don't want to miss!

Cherkasy, Ukraine of Cherkasy Oblast (province) has a population of some 270k+ but on this fateful day that this video was made, this Englishman added to the population. Cherkasy has been known since the 13th century and played a great role in the history of Ukraine. The city was once considered the centre of the land of the Cossacks; its citizens took part in Khmelnychchyna and Koliyivschyna (cossacks' and peasants' rebellions). And experienced great loss during WW2 due to brave sacrifices. Located on the right bank of Dnieper River (specifically at the Kremenchuk Reservoir), about 200 km (124 mi) south of the nation's capital, Kyiv. Join me while I explore Cherkasy in 1 day!

Russia And China’s Plan To Compete Against Airbus And Boeing
Boeing and Airbus have enjoyed dominance in the large commercial aircraft for decades. Other manufacturers have been acquired or moved aside as the duopoly has gathered strength. But that may change in the coming years with new aircraft being developed in China and Russia.
State-backed manufacturers in each of the two countries are developing narrowbody alternatives to the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 families. As well as this, they are coming together to jointly develop a widebody competitor.
So far, these aircraft are only proving popular in Russia and China. However, these are sizeable markets and, perhaps once the models are proven and established, other countries will pay more attention.

From the airspace closure to rising oil prices, Russia's invasion of Ukraine has rapidly changed the landscape of global aviation.
Russian airplanes are blocked from the European Union, Canadian and US airspace. Western countries' airplanes can’t access Russian airspace. This has resulted in hours of detours and led to many flights being cancelled between Europe and Asia. There are serious repercussions on airspace closure.
Aircraft manufacturers such as Airbus, Boeing, Embraer have pulled back all services from Russia. Russian airlines were prohibited from buying aircraft, spares, and equipment from the West. Sabre, which acts as Russian airline Aeroflot’s booking system, will no longer allow customers to book seats.
Will all the sanctions and measures cripple and isolate Russia’s commercial aviation sector? Expert Jon Ostrower and Kurt Hofmann explains in this video.
At the end of the video, we pay tribute to Antonov An-225 Mriya which has been unfortunately destroyed during the war. My condolences to those who have lost their lives in this tragedy. I sincerely hope peace will prevail soon.

Aviation Museums of the World - Istanbul Air Museum of the Turkish Air Force - Travel Guide
One of only two aviation museums I'm aware of within Turkiye, this one outside the old Ataturk airport also happens to be the largest.
With a huge collection of jets from the 1950's and 1960's to examples of aircraft such as the McDonnell Douglas F 4E Phantom II and General Dynamics F 16 Fighting Falcon that still serve today, the air museum displays an impressive collection dedicated to the Turkish Air Force!
