Discover Wisconsin-Wisconsin Culinary Tour: Stevens Point

Guest host Stephanie Klett, Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Tourism, and the Discover Wisconsin crew criss-crossed the state to visit some of Wisconsin’s top culinary destinations. “Local Foods and Finds: Wisconsin Culinary Tour” airs Jan. 31-Feb. 1 across the Midwest on Discover Wisconsin, the nation’s longest-running tourism TV show. In this episode, Stephanie and the crew travel to Madison, Door County, Ashland County, Stevens Point and Plover where they visit restaurants, shops, wineries, and farmer’s markets and experience popular Wisconsin food traditions.

“Wisconsin is home to incredible culinary experiences,” said Klett. “Whether dining at a restaurant or visiting a farmer’s market, it’s all a part of how a visitor experiences a destination. Food is fun and it brings people together, which are what vacations are all about.”

The episode will highlight several culinary options in the Stevens Point Area, including the Stevens Point Farmers Market and local farm Whitefeather Organics and local restaurants Sky Club, @1800 and Christian’s Bistro. The episode also tours the vineyard of Fresar Winery and sister business Kozy Yak Brewery in Rosholt, before exploring Central Waters Brewery known for locally sourced ingredients and utilizing renewable energy in the brewing process.

TOP 10 Reasons why ANCHORAGE, ALASKA is the WORST city in the US!

Don’t move to Anchorage, Alaska. Seriously. Let us tell you why.. In this series we tell you the WORST places to live in the United States. Our TOP 10 Lists tell you where NOT to move and why we think you should avoid it.

Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city, is in the south-central part of the state on the Cook Inlet. It's known for its cultural sites, including the Alaska Native Heritage Center, which displays traditional crafts, stages dances, and presents replicas of dwellings from the area’s indigenous groups. The city is also a gateway to nearby wilderness areas and mountains including the Chugach, Kenai and Talkeetna. ― Google

#ANCHORAGE #ALASKA #TOP10 I don’t know if you need to hear this, but:

These lists are not intended to be used for making life changing decisions. They are just another look at the city. I present both good and bad points of view on this channel. I don’t just make videos that are negative. There are positive videos on the channel too, check them out. 5 Things American Tourists Shouldn't Wear in Europe

Grab some of our gear

Please Note: Young People Wear Many of These Styles Throughout Europe. These tips are geared toward 35+ year old travelers. Thanks for watching!

Grab a Wolters World Shirt

Heading to Europe & Not Sure What to Pack? Here are a few things that my fellow US travelers may want to avoid packing if they are traveling to Europe.
1. Baseball Caps: Europeans in general do not wear baseball caps, especially backwards. You would be better served to wear a more traditional hat. You will see an occasional NY Yankee hat, but why not buy the fancy hat you always wanted instead?
2. Athletic Wear: Europeans tend to wear athletic wear to do sports, not to wear around town. There is a trend of more athleisurewear in Europe, but it is not to the extent that there is in US.
3. Khakis: the omnipresent US male pant choice is not something you will see too often in Europe. Go for colored pants or jeans. If you want khaki like pants wear Chinos instead of Dockers. The pants you will see are a thinner cut or skinnier fit than in the US.
4. Oversized US University Sweatshirts.
5. Sport Shoes or High Heals: US sport shoes and white socks are not quite as popular in Europe as they are in the US. You may be better off with Urban Street shoes like Vans instead. Also, women should be careful with high heels as with all the cobblestone it is easy to hurt your ankles.

We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.

We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.

We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.

Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.

Want to grab some great gear? We have used Osprey Packs for years & swear by them. Check them out here

Need some clothing for your next adventure? Patagonia has some pretty good stuff for all kinds of travelers.

LEAVENWORTH, WA | 10 Awesome Things to Do In & Around Leavenworth

Leavenworth is a charming Bavarian-themed village at the center of Washington State, located 117 miles to the east of Seattle. Leavenworth is a popular weekend getaway for Seattle residents as well as tourists from afar and is arguably one of the most beautiful places in Washington State. In this video, we break down 10 awesome things to do in and around Leavenworth.

???? WHERE WE STAYED IN LEAVENWORTH:
- Mrs. Andersons Lodging:
- FairBridge Inn:

10. Indulge in the German cuisine
There are many restaurants that serve German beer, bratwurst, and pretzels. Our favorite places in town include the “Rhein Haus” for its pretzels and German Beer, and the “München Haus” for its bratwurst.

9. Lake Wenatchee
Lake Wenatchee is about 30 minutes away and is a fun place to explore. During the winter, you can go cross-country skiing around the lake. In summertime, it’s a great place to go for a swim or relax at the beach.

8. Hike the Icicle Ridge Trail
The Icicle Ridge Trail is an easy to moderate hike and a must-do when you’re in Leavenworth. It takes roughly 90 mins to reach the beautiful lookout point, with views of the town and surrounding peaks.

7. Take a walk downtown
With its Alpine-style architecture, it’s an experience in itself to simply walk downtown. Leavenworth is fairly small, but it’s so picturesque that you can easily spend a few hours roaming around. Most of the action takes place in Front Street, which is lined with souvenir shops, bars, wine testing rooms, and restaurants. You can also find two museums here: the Nutcracker museum and the Greater Leavenworth Museum.

6. Lake Chelan
About a one-hour drive to the east of Leavenworth, Lake Chelan is a 50 mile long pristine lake. It’s perfect for summer activities, such as boating, fishing, swimming, and kayaking.

5. Explore the waterfront
Leavenworth’s waterfront park can easily be explored on foot. There are many trails that wind through the park, offering beautiful vistas of both the river and the mountains.

4. Go wine tasting
Leavenworth is home to many wineries that host tasting rooms. Our favorite one is the Icicle Ridge Winery, which has two tasting rooms in downtown Leavenworth. But for a more idyllic setting, it’s also possible to taste wine at their log home tasting room in nearby Peshastin.

???? Icicle Ridge Winery:

3. The Peshastin Pinnacles
The Peshastin Pinnacles state park is about a 15 minute drive from Leavenworth. A grouping of tooth-like sandstone rocks stand tall here against the vineyards and golden hills of the Wenatchee Valley.

2. Colchuck day hike
Colchuck is known as the most beautiful lake near Leavenworth, if not in all of Washington State. The hike is about 8 mi round trip with 2280 ft of elevation gain, and takes between 4.5 to 6 hours total.

1. The Enchantments hike
As if Colchuck Lake alone weren’t enough beauty, it is also one of the two gateways to the magical Enchantments area. This hike is extremely tough if done in a day as it is more than 20 mi end-to-end. However, getting to these awe-inspiring alpine lakes is absolutely worth it. You can also break up your journey by camping, but must get lucky in the lottery system if you want to stay overnight in the area.
