Montpelier, Vermont is a city that has famously and proudly supported local businesses. In fact, it's the only state capital in the US without a McDonald's or a Walmart. And based on its population size, it's the smallest capital city in the nation. But don't think for a second that just because Montpelier is small in size, it must also be lacking in other regards. It's a town that is fiercely proud of its heritage and traditions!

Vermont's Northeast Kingdom | Visiting Old Stomping Grounds in the NEK of the Green Mountain State
Visiting the wildest, most rural part of Vermont, which also happens to be one of my old stomping grounds, since I went to college at Lyndon State College (now known as Northern Vermont University).
Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate with me much for this quick two-day journey. The 1st day there was smoke from wildfires in the western US. The 2nd day it was cloudy and rainy.
But that's ok, I still enjoyed swinging by St. Johnsbury, Lyndonville, my alma matter, as well as Lake Willoughby.

Today our goal is to have the perfect fall day in Vermont! We’re enjoying delicious fall treats, like apple cider and donuts, exploring a charming town, seeing some early foliage, testing our skills in our first ever corn maze, and visiting a beautiful waterfall. It was such a fun day doing fall activities in one of the most beautiful areas of Vermont.

Since I was young, I have always wanted to go see the Vermont Inn that Bob Newhart made famous. Well we didn't get to see it but we sure did have a great road trip over from Maine to Vermont. Seven hours of backroads on Memorial Day. We saw and were involved/detoured in six parades that day. Ha
