Why is New Hampshire So Weird???

Few states are as unique as New Hampshire. It's a New England state that had a hand in the American Revolution, but it's different than the other surrounding states, like Massachusetts. In fact, it shares some characteristics of southern states. Despite being one of the smallest states in the country, it has an outsized influence on national politics, for one thing. About the only thing that is similar to other northeastern states is that New Hampshire has a population of educated residents. It's a weird state, ya'll. Join me while I uncover the various reasons why it's such a unique place to live.

Exploring an ABANDONED Sand and Gravel Crusher (Hooksett, NH)

J-MASS INSTAGRAM: @jmassofficial

In the woods of Hooksett, New Hampshire sits a massive site sprawling with abandoned equipment and machinery, all rusted away from time. This was once a sand and gravel quarry that used massive crushing machines to turn stone into gravel and refine sand, with a vast system of conveyer belts linking each machine to each other for efficiency. While not much is known about this site, it is said to date back to the 1980s, and was likely abandoned within the last decade. Today, huge sand and gravel crushers and other complex machinery sits at this site, completely worn and rusted away, while abandoned trailers and sheds dot the area. This is a unique, yet obscure abandoned site, almost akin to a rusty, metallic playground with ladders and bridges and catwalks.

This was my first time coming to this location, and it was truly impressive! The sand and gravel crushing machines were absolutely massive, and while I was a bit nervous about climbing on them at first (for safety reasons), I ended up giving in and climbing all around the whole thing! You can walk along the conveyer belts that once carried rocks, gravel, and sand, now empty and abandoned. There are also observation towers that give spectacular views of both the machines and the surrounding landscape, which was perfect on this fall day. While I greatly enjoyed my time exploring this rusty playground and climbing up all the ladders and staircases, I would NOT recommend coming here just for safety--it is very dangerous! Nevertheless, this was one of the most interesting abandoned places I've ever been, especially considering how little information there is about it online.

Hooksett New Hampshire (NH) Real Estate Tour

-- Tour Hooksett, NH neighborhoods, condominium developments, subdivisions, schools, landmarks, recreational areas, and town offices.

Hooksett, New Hampshire is located in south-central New Hampshire. Manchester, the State's largest city, is located immediately to the south, while the state capitol in Concord is a short distance to the north. The Town of Hooksett was incorporated in 1822.

Hooksett's commercial district and the northern portion of Manchester blend together in a seamless bustle of retail operations, shopping centers, restaurants, and office buildings. This healthy commercial center is the main reason the rest of the town enjoys one of the region's lowest tax rates. Away from the busy Route 3/28 business district, Hooksett remains a lovely residential community with a classic New England town common. Hooksett's commercial district has boomed over the past several years, providing an ample business base to support the town's growing residential population.

All this growth is attributed to Hooksett's ideal location between Concord and Manchester, its close proximity to I-93 and other major routes, and its favorable business climate. With the recent construction of a new safety center for police and fire departments behind one of Hooksett's major shopping centers, hundreds of acres of industrial land will open up for development.

Hooksett has kept pace with the increasing demand for housing with dozens of new construction projects and the sale and redevelopment of housing units. To support the burgeoning population, the town is making infrastructure improvements and expanding municipal services to areas of growth. The only area of Hooksett that has emerged relatively unchanged from the recent surge of commercial growth is the village center, located along the Merrimack River at the falls. Hillsborough, frequently spelled Hillsboro, is a town in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, United States. The town is home to Fox State Forest and part of Low State Forest. The main village of the town is defined as the Hillsborough census-designated place (CDP), and encompasses the main urban area of the town, located along the Contoocook River at the junction of New Hampshire Route 149 with Henniker Street and Main Street. The town also includes the villages of Hillsborough Center, Hillsborough Upper Village, Hillsborough Lower Village, and Emerald Lake Village.

Nashua, New Hampshire - Driving Tour 4K

Nashua is a city in southern New Hampshire, United States. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 86,494, the second-largest in northern New England after nearby Manchester. As of 2019 the population had risen to an estimated 89,355. Along with Manchester, it is a seat of New Hampshire's most populous county, Hillsborough.

Built around the now-departed textile industry, in recent decades Nashua's economy has shifted to the financial services, high tech, and defense industries as part of the economic recovery that started in the 1980s in the Greater Boston region. Major private employers in the city include Nashua Corporation, BAE Systems, and Teradyne. The city also hosts two major regional medical centers, Southern New Hampshire Medical Center and St. Joseph Hospital. The South Nashua commercial district is a major regional shopping destination, lying directly on the Massachusetts border and taking advantage of New Hampshire's lack of sales tax. It is anchored by the Pheasant Lane Mall and numerous smaller shopping centers.

It was twice named Best Place to Live in America in annual surveys by Money magazine. It is the only city to get the No. 1 ranking on two occasions—in 1987 and 1998.

Keene New Hampshire 2021

Just a look at downtown Keene, New Hampshire while visiting there this week with Jake. Its sidewalk lined outside restaurants, its many shops and the center Green make up this nice New England town.

Editor's note: I recently added a new external microphone (Edutige ETM-001 omnidirectional) to use when vlogging instead of just the Gopro Hero 8 standard mic. As you can hear, it is quite sensitive...lol. Still learning to use it...so until next time...
