The impetus of this little excursion is the Allgäu Panorama Marathon. I'm running the 18-kilometer Hörnerlauf, a course that runs 1,100 meters straight up a mountain.

#Sonthofen is the southernmost town of Germany, located in the #Oberallgäu region of the Bavarian Alps. Neighbouring Oberstdorf is situated 14 km farther south but is not classified as a town. In 2005, Sonthofen was awarded #Alpenstadt des Jahres (Alpine city of the year). The town has 21,300 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2015).
Sonthofen is widely known for its milk and cheese products and as a tourist destination.

Cycle Tour Day 10 Bichlbach to Sonthofen
Connal Tours European Cycling Adventure. The ABC Tour - Adriatic to the Baltic Cycling Tour.
Cycle Day 10 Innsbruck - Bichlbach (Austria) to Sonthofen (Germany)- 56km (632vm). Warm & sunny. Today we've achieved cycling through the Alps from Italy, through Austria and now in Germany. Another big day with 2 serious climbs & a very steep downhill (unpaved). The first climb took us up to a stunning high plateau - being Saturday everyone was out cycling or walking or riding their motorbikes through this pass. Quite a network of cycle/walk trails through the fields. Mountain meadows stunning in their spring colours - green, yellow, and hidden patches of white, pink, blue & purple flowers. Came across a skywalk & cable car in a river gorge. Cycled along HaldenSee (lake). Another big climb to the Oberjoch pass at 1178m, just over the Austrian/German border. Just a peg each side of the road & the old stone marker with the border line marker on top. Crossing the pass, we stayed on the bike path for a huge descent on unpaved surface Multiple e-mountain bikes heading up this track. Then easy cycling down the valley through Bad Hindelang and more villages to our destination in Sonthofen. Walked the town to reacquaint ourselves (last here in 2014).
Day 10 of 7 weeks cycling the 2400km from south coast to north coast in Europe and a little bit extra.

Starzlachklamm bei Sonthofen Oberstdorf Wanderung durch die Starzlachklamm.
Rundwanderung durch die Starzlachklamm. Gestartet wird auf dem Starzlachklamm Parkplatz oder Parkplatz Winkel. Nach dem höchsten Punkt gibt es im Sommer auf der Topfen Alm was zu Essen und eine wunderschöne Aussicht auf die Alpen. Die Starzlachklamm ist eine Klamm am Fuß des Grünten zwischen Sonthofen-Winkel und Topfenalpe. Dauer ca. 45 Minuten. Der Gesamte Rundweg dauert ca. 2 bis 4 Stunden.
Je nach dem welche Strecke man wählt.

Wonderful Village in Southern Germany - Villingen-Schwenningen 4K Ultra HD Footage
Villingen-Schwenningen is a city located in Germany in the southwest of the Land of Baden-Württemberg. With around 81,000 inhabitants, the municipality is the largest in the Black Forest-Baar district.
The particularity of the city lies in the fact that it consists of two entities corresponding to two formerly independent towns, namely Villingen and Schwenningen. The two former municipalities merged in 1972 to become Villingen-Schwenningen. Another particularity is geographical: between the two old towns less than 5 kilometers apart, runs along a north-south axis the watershed between the North Sea (to the north) and the Black Sea (to the east).

In Nazi Germany, the NS-Ordensburgen (National Socialist Order Castles, singular Ordensburg), also called Schulungsburgen, were schools developed for elite Nazi military echelons. There were strict requirements for admission to the schools. Junker candidates had to be aged between 25 and 30 years old, belong to either the Nazi Party, the Hitler Youth, the Sturmabteilung, or the Schutzstaffel, be physically completely healthy, and be pure-blooded with no hereditary defects. The term Ordensburg was borrowed by the Nazis from the historic Teutonic Order.
Under the reforms of the National Socialist Party, special schools for the children of important Nazi leaders were established. “Adolf Hitler Schools” were established for the elementary grades, and Ordensburgen were established for post-secondary school students. These schools were supposed to turn out future Party elite leaders, trained in both technical subjects and Nazi ideology. Ordensburgen were designed for students who had completed the Adolf Hitler Schools, undergone six months of cumpulsary labor service training, two years in the army, and who had already chosen their profession.
Because the students were so isolated and their education was so specialized, they were often perceived as arrogant while knowing little of practical value. Many high-ranking Nazi officials chose not to send their children to these schools. Even Martin Bormann sent only one of his more troublesome sons to an Adolf Hitler School, as a form of punishment.
The schools themselves were typically stark, modern structures with extensive facilities. Vogelsang, for instance, reportedly contained the world's largest gymnasium at the time. Each student was supposed to attend all four institutions in sequence, finishing at the historic site of the Medieval Marienburg for training that included live-fire military exercises.
