Tripura Sundari | Matabari Temple in Agartala, Tripura | North East India Tour
Tripura Sundari Temple is situated in the ancient Udaipur, about 55 km from Agartala.
It takes about 1.30 hours to reach.
Entry is free.
Time required to visit 30 minute.
Tripura believed to be one of the holiest Hindu shrines in this part of the country. Popularly known as Matabari
Tripura Sundari. Considered to be one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, consists of a square type sanctum of the typical Bengali hut. It is believed that Sati's right foot fell here during Lord Shiva's Dance.
The temple consist a square type sanctum with a conical dome. It was constructed by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya in 1501A.D
Kalyan Sagar is famous for very rare species of tortoise in large numbers.

After reaching Agartala by Tejas Rajdhani I got to know that there is a weekend lockdown in Tripura and I was stuck for almost 3days. I started my journey on the very 4th day to Matabari Tripura Sundari Temple which is one of the major Shakti Peeth in India. Then I visited Neermahal which was just an awesome experience for me then I went to Ujjayanta Palace but it was closed due to covid-19. I spend all my days in lockdown and am unable to explore more in Tripura a plan but nevertheless, I will do it on some other day...

The Bhuvaneshvari temple has been immortalised by Nobel laureate Ravindra Nath Tagore in his novel ' Rajshree' and play 'Bisharjana'.Tagore's statue placed near this temple.
The temple is situated besides the river Gomti and is located close to the old Royal palace which lies in ruins today.
Temple is dedicated to goddess Bhuvaneswari . Bhuvaneswari temple udaipur is important religious destination of Tripura built in the 17th century by Maharaja Govind Manikya of Tripura.This famous Bhuvaneswari Temple is very close to state capital Agartala ( capital of Tripura).
Gunabati Temples- this is a groupe of three brick temples built by queen Guna bati wife of Maharaja Govinda Manikya.
भुवनेश्वरी मंदिर को नोबेल पुरस्कार विजेता रवींद्र नाथ टैगोर ने अपने उपन्यास 'राजश्री' और 'बिशारजाना' में निभाया है। इस मंदिर के पास ही मूर्ति स्थापित है।
मंदिर गोमती नदी के अलावा स्थित है और पुराने शाही महल के करीब स्थित है जो आज खंडहर में स्थित है।
