Frozen Siberian river: Tura
The Tura is a river in West-Siberia. It has its origin in the Ural Mountains at a level of about 400 m, West of the city Kuschwa. There several small source streams feed the Tura, whereas the two major streams of those are termed Tura as well. From the Eastern flank of the Ural mountains the Tura runs South-East in direction to the West Siberian Plain. There the river is passing the territory of the oblast Swerdlowsk and later runs also through the oblast Tyumen. Here the city of Tyumen represents the largest settling along the Tura.
The downstream part of the Tura meanders quite strongly back and forth. Finally at about 100 km East of Tyumen, the Tura is flowing into the river Tobol.
The Tura freezes between October and April. This is followed by a high tide until July. The beginning high tide is visible in one of my older videos from April 2015.
The little footage of this video was recorded close to the historical center of the city Tyumen.
