Good day dear scene walker.
Today i take you in the city of Sint-Truiden, Belgium.
Filmed at 2 locations in Sint-Truiden, the first part takes us through the city center, while the second part is filmed in a beautiful rose garden.
Before we learn more about the city of Sint-Truiden.
I had the opportunity to respond to some of you, i'm amazed to see people watching from Australia to the west coast of the US.
Thanks for watching and showing interest in what i consider to be a hobby project.
Sint-Truiden is located in the center of the beautiful Hesbaye region of Belgium.
Hesbaye is Belgium's fruit-producing region, known for its pears, apples and sweet cherries.
One of the largest cities in the province of Limburg, with over 41,500 inhabitants.
It is the only city in Flanders named after its founder (Saint Trudo), a Christian monk and member of a noble Frankish family.
In the 7th century, Saint Trudo founded the St Trudo's Abbey in 'Sarchinium', a settlement dating back to Roman times.
In 883 the Abbey was attacked and plundered by the Normans.
The abbey can still be visited and can be seen in the video after 10 minutes.
After some miracles happened at the tomb of Saint Trudo, the place developed into a place of pilgrimage.
Trade and services also flourished due to the many pilgrims.
Gradually growing in power and in a Golden Age.
The settlement grew into a fortified stronghold and received city rights, it became known as Sint Truiden in the 12th century.
Sint-Truiden grew economically in the 13th century into a center of the cloth industry and mainly exported to Germany, England and France.
Unfortunately, the city's Golden Age came to an end when Charles the Bold conquered the city in 1467.
However, the St Trudo's Abbey continued to grow and grew into an impressive complex.
At the end of the 18th century, the abbey came to a sudden and radical end.
French Revolutionary troops seized the goods and building complex.
Sint Truiden was annexed to the First French Republic and shortly afterwards to the United Kingdom of the Netherlands and from 1830 to present-day Belgium.
From the 19th century, the city flourished again thanks to the fruit growing in the region.
Some places of interest include 2 UNESCO sites: the 13th-century Town Hall (Belfort) and an equally old beguinage.
The Grand Place, St Trudo's Abbey and numerous church buildings.
In total there are 8 castles in Sint-Truiden.

N79: Sint Truiden - Vroenhoven, Belgium
The N79 runs from Sint-Truiden to Vroenhoven. It crosses country-borders at Maastricht, where the N79 becomes the N278. It also connects to Tongeren, the oldest city in Belgium, which makes this a very busy road during the rush hours and weekends due to tourists and enthusiasts.
The part between Tongeren and Vroenhoven also follows (or lies parallel to) the old Via Belgica, which was an old, roman road that connected Cologne with Bavai.

Wandeltip Provinciaal Domein Nieuwenhoven - Op stap in Vlaanderen - België #nieuwenhoven
Het bezoekerscentrum Nieuwenhoven bevindt zich in het oude boswachtershuis in het Provinciedomein Nieuwenhoven, gelegen aan de N722 Hasselt-Sint-Truiden. Vlakbij het bezoekerscentrum liggen een educatieve vijver, een kleinschalige waterzuivering, een bijenhal, een hondenweide en een hoogstamboomgaard.
Toen in het begin van de zeventiger jaren het domein voor een belangrijk gedeelte dreigde te worden opgenomen voor bebouwing, verwierf de provincie Limburg het bosrijke gedeelte (± 80 ha) voor openbaar nut. Ze gaf het domein een dubbele functie: natuurbehoud en passieve recreatie. Het recreatieve gedeelte werd geconcentreerd aan de rand van het domein en zoveel mogelijk ingepast in de natuurlijke omgeving.
Regelmatig worden er activiteiten georganiseerd.
Het bos
Het bos van Nieuwenhoven, van oudsher Galgenbos genoemd, is een restant van het “Brudelholtwoud”. In de 10de eeuw werd het geschonken aan de abdij van Sint-Truiden die met de ontginning begon. Het deed dienst als buitenverblijf voor de abten van de abdij.
Het bos is een oud parkbos van 161 ha. Aan de toegang tegenover de parkeerplaatsen is een zone van het bos ingericht als speelbos. Een speelbos is een zone waar jongeren vrij kunnen spelen, maar met respect voor planten en dieren. Hier kunnen ze naar hartelust ravotten zonder dat ze op de paden moeten blijven zoals in andere bossen. Ook de jeugdbewegingen kunnen hier terecht voor hun bosspelen.
De visvijver
Tegenover het bezoekerscentrum ligt een mooie visvijver. Je kunt er vissen van april tot oktober tussen zonsopgang en -ondergang. De aankoop van een visverlof in het bezoekerscentrum Nieuwenhoven is verplicht.
Recreatie
Via het fietsroutenetwerk kun je het domein makkelijk bereiken. Een aantal bewegwijzerde wandelpaden doorkruist het gebied.
Het Provinciedomein Nieuwenhoven beschikt over een ruime speeltuin. Deze is ingedeeld in verschillende zones volgens leeftijdscategorie en ligt net naast het terras van de brasserie 't Kelshof.
Voor de viervoeters is er een grote hondenweide en hondenlooppiste.
In het fructuarium vind je nieuwe en lokale pruimen-, appel-, peren- en kersenvariëteiten. Breng ook zeker een bezoekje aan de bijenhal. Maak hiervoor eerst een afspraak.

Belgium: The City of Mechelen
Mechelen is a city and municipality in the province of Antwerp, Flanders.
As the river Dijle flows through the city, Mechelen is often referred to as the Dijlestad (City on the river Dijle).
It is one of Flanders' prominent cities of historical art, with Antwerp, Bruges, Brussels, Ghent, and Leuven. It was notably a centre for artistic production during the Northern Renaissance.
There are many places of interest in this city. Some of them belong to the UNESCO World Heritage, like the St. Rumbold's Cathedral (Sint-Romboutskathedraal) with its dominating tower and the city gate: the Brusselpoort, the last remaining of the city's twelve gates.
Other interesting builidings and spots are the Lakenhal (hall for merchants of woollen cloth) and the 14th century Belfry beside it, they form now the City Hall at the Grand Market square.
The Klein Begijnhof and the Groot Begijnhof (Small and Large Béguinages).
The Refuge of Sint-Truiden and the Refuge of Tongerlo, retreat mansions for distant abbeys.
't Groen Waterke, a picturesque small remnant of bygone canals.
