Sinaia is a town and a mountain resort in Prahova County, Romania. It is situated in the historical region of Muntenia. The town was named after the Sinaia Monastery of 1695, around which it was built. The monastery, in turn, is named after the Biblical Mount Sinai. King Carol I of Romania also built his summer residence, Peleș Castle, in Sinaia in the late nineteenth century.

Sinaia is about 65 kilometres (40 miles) northwest of Ploiești and 48 kilometres (30 miles) south of Brașov, in a mountainous area on the Prahova River valley, just east of the Bucegi Mountains. The town's altitude varies between 767 to 860 metres (2,516 to 2,822 feet) above sea level.
The city is a popular destination for hiking and winter sports, especially downhill skiing. Among the tourist landmarks, the most important are Peleș Castle, Pelișor Castle, Sinaia Monastery, Sinaia Casino, Sinaia train station, and the Franz Joseph and Saint Anne Cliffs. Sinaia was also the summer residence of the Romanian composer George Enescu, who stayed at the Luminiș villa.
In the town of Sinaia and its surroundings restrictions are in place regarding cutting down or picking flora. The felling of trees is not allowed. It is forbidden to pick any alpine plants. Severe punishments are enforced for anyone who gathers : the Mountain Peony (Rhododendron Kotsky), Edelweiss (Leontopodium alpinum), and the Yellow Gentiana (Gentiana lutea). Tourist camping is only authorized in designated places, following necessary and compulsory protection standards.
The mountainous area in which Sinaia is located is in the Bucegi Natural Park region. The Park covers a total area of 326.63 square kilometres (126.11 sq mi), of which 58.05 km2 (22.41 sq mi) are under strict protection and contain natural monuments. The Bucegi Natural Preserve area includes all the most precipitous areas of the mountains Vârful cu Dor, Furnica, and Piatra Arsă. The mountainous area is continuously patrolled by mountain rescue patrols as well as by members of the Mountain Police.
At the entrance to the Cumpătu district, one can find the “Sinaia alder-tree grove” botanical reservation placed under the protection of the Romanian Academy and the Bucharest Biology Institute. In the same district, there is also another ecological research station under the patronage of UNESCO – Jacques-Yves Cousteau, belonging to the University of Bucharest, which also includes a museum of Bucegi Mountains fauna.
Peleș Castle is a Neo-Renaissance castle in the Carpathian Mountains, near Sinaia, in Prahova County, Romania, on an existing medieval route linking Transylvania and Wallachia, built between 1873 and 1914. Its inauguration was held in 1883. It was constructed for King Carol I.

5 Days in ROMANIA - Bucharest, Brasov, Bran, Sighișoara, Viscri & Sinaia || Full Travel Itinerary
Romania is a southeastern European country known for their capital Bucharest and also for Brasov & Sighisoara. It is the 12th largest country in Europe.
It’s a beautiful country and I had a really good experience visiting Romania. Almost everyone speaks English and it was very easy to communicate with them.
For travelling we had rented a car from Price Carz in Bucharest. We got a brand new rental car from them.
On our first day we visited city of Brasov where we saw many monuments about which I have mentioned in detail in the video.
On our second day we went to Bran which is a half an hour drive from Brasov and explore Bran Castle also known as Dracula Castle. Later on that day we went to an old village of Romania called VISCRI where we went to explore the VISCRI Fortified Church.
On our third day we went to Sighișoara and explored the town. It was a beautiful and colourful town. The people were really nice and kind to us. We had a good stay in an airbnb and enjoyed exploring specially the clock tower and the church on the hill.
On our fourth day we went to see the Peles Castle and Sinaia Monastery. We could not enter Peles Castle as it was closed for the day but it was the most beautiful looking castle I have ever seen atleast from outside.
On our fifth day we explored Bucharest where we went to the Palace of Parliament, Arcul De Triumpf, Romanian Athenaeum etc.

Today we are visiting one of the most iconic castles in Romania, Peles Castle!
Peles Castle is set at the bottom of the Bucegi Mountains near the picturesque town os Sinaia. It is considered by many to be one of the most stunning and spectacular castles in Europe. Since this castle served as the summer residence for the royal family the King who commissioned it spared no expense. Built in 1873, Peles Castle was constructed with electricity, an elevator, themed rooms, and even a stained glass roof. This fairy-tale like castle is definitely worth a stop on your next Romanian road trip!

Busteni & Sinaia - THIS is ROMANIA! TOP RATED Mountain RESORTS in ROMANIA (2021) ????????
In this video we explore two of the best mountain resorts in Romania and we take you with us. The names of the towns are Busteni and Sinaia and they are located in the Prahova Valley region of the Carpathian mountains in Romania. We will see the Cantacuzino Castle, the Caraiman Peak and cross as well as be met with a carnaval in Sinaia with loads of food stalls and concert stages! Have you ever been to either of them?

Romania's PRETTIEST Castle | Sinaia, Romania Travel Vlog - Peles Castle, Cota 2000, & Transylvania!

Today we're visiting one of Europe's most beautiful cities - Sinaia! When researching where we wanted to go in Romania, visiting Sinaia was a no brainer.
We hopped in our rental car in Bucharest, and drove straight through to Sinaia! Our first stop was Cota 2000, a cable car that takes you 2000 m up a mountain! We LOVE cable cars, so it's no surprise we loved this entire experience. This was by far the fastest cable car we've ridden on haha. After marveling at the Romanian mountains, we quickly made our way to Peles castle - right before it closed. We got a quick tour of the inside of what we think is Romania's PRETTIEST castle (just enough time to know we need to come back for the full tour), and then headed outside to enjoy the castle from the outside, which is what we think the best part of it is! We spent quite a bit of time outside reading up on some history of the castle as well as trying to capture its beauty from every angle (you just can't capture it!) We did get some great drone shots though!
We checked into our hotel later that night, which happens to ALSO be a castle! We'll be showing a full tour of that in the next vlog! We are SO excited to explore this new (to us) country, so make sure to subscribe to see our 6?? videos from Romania!

Peles Castle - Exploring the Most Spectacular Castle in Romania. Peles Castle is located in the beautiful small town of Sinaia, Romania. A must-do day trip when visiting Bucharest or Brasov. The castle is nestled in the Carpathian Mountains making it one of the most picturesque fairy-tale-like castles we've seen so far.
