This time, I cycling from Muikamachi station to Shiozawa-juku through the rice field road.
It may be difficult to see the video because it was filmed while cycling, but I hope you enjoy it to explore new place with me.
The weather wasn't that great on the day of the shoot, but Niigata area are beautiful both a sunny or snowy day, you'll definitely want to go once!
Our destination in this trip are a place called Mikuni Kaido Shiozawa-juku (Reverend Street). Known as one of the heaviest snowfall areas in Japan, this townscape was newly created with the aim of creating a town that takes advantage of the history and culture of the snow country.

The park has many activities for visitors to enjoy spread out around Lake Shiozawa. Visitors are able to rent a boat to go out onto Lake Shiozawa if they wish to explore the area by “water”.
With six restaurants/cafes here, visitors can enjoy the whole day at Karuizawa Taliesin. The fresh air and abundance of nature makes this park a favorite for many. Visitors will find autumn to be especially crowded as the autumn foliage seen here is truly breathtaking. 新潟県中越地方、魚沼（六日町）盆地と十日町盆地を隔てる魚沼丘陵は、標高500～1,000m級の山々が連なっていますが、山容自体はそれほど急峻ではないため古くから丘陵を越える峠が多数存在していました。
その中でも、戦国時代から近世に至るまで最も利用された峠が、南魚沼市と十日町市の間にある栃窪峠です。妻有街道とも呼ばれるこの峠道は、かの上杉謙信も重要視した軍道でもありました。
現在は県道十日町塩沢線が通過していますが、近隣に長大トンネルで丘陵を抜ける道がいくつも通じており、狭隘区間があり冬期は閉鎖となるこの道の重要性は低下しています。
今回は、十日町塩沢線を終点から起点に収録しています。稲刈りの時期を迎え、たわわに実った黄金色の水田が印象的でした。

時間がなければ、駅ナカのCoCoLo湯沢で酒風呂入って、
ぽんしゅ館で利き酒を堪能するだけでも旅気分を味わえるかと。
また、大河ドラマ「天地人」で有名になった雲洞庵は
上杉景勝、直江兼続ゆかりの禅寺。
参道の杉の木、苔生したお庭…、ココ落ち着く。。。
パワースポットとしても有名らしいです。

We spend a three hours trip to mountain resort town of Karuizawa in Nagano Prefecture Japan. First we went to Karuizawa Taliesin to have leaf peeping or autumn leaf hunting around the Lake Shiozawa during Autumn Colors Season(紅葉祭り). Then, we ate dinner and my colleagues do some shopping in Prince Karuizawa Outlet Shopping Center.

Trivia: Actually I don't come to Echigo Yuzawa for skiing. I have friends who are big fans of Yuming (Yumi Matsutoya ). She holds small concerts for several days at Naeba Prince Hotel which is located right in front of Naeba Skiing ground. To tell you the truth, I'm not so much of her fan but since they drag me here every February for many years, I remember some of her songs already.
