Shwedagon Pagoda, Myanmar [Amazing Places 4K]
The Shwedagon Pagoda is the most impressive and sacred Buddhist site in Myanmar. The pagoda is claimed to be 2,600 years old, but according to the historians and archaeologists it was built between 6th and 10th centuries. It has been damaged by earthquakes on several occasions and later rebuilt and raised higher, to its current height of 99 meters/325 ft.

DAY 1: NJP/BAGDOGRA TO GANGTOK
Our representative will Meet and Greet on arrival at NJP Railway Station/Bagdogra and transfer to Gangtok (5,480 ft.) 124 km (77 mi). The drive will take you through a bank of river Tista with a beautiful view of mountains and river. On arrival Check-in to hotel and rest. Overnight stay at Gangtok.
DAY 2: TSOMGO LAKE & BABA MANDIR (Optional Nathula Pass)
After Breakfast will have a Full day Excursion OF Tsomgo Lake. The water in this lake has been accumulated from the melting snow on the mountains located nearby. Post covering Tsomgo Laje we will proceed to Baba Mandir, which is a distinguished sightseeing place of Sikkim. This “mandir” or shrine is dedicated to “Baba” Harbhajan Singh, who was a soldier of the Indian Army.
Optional: Nathula Pass on direct payment basis (3500-5000) depending on the permit.
DAY 3: GANGTOK SIGHTSEEING
After breakfast will have a sightseeing of Gangtok which includes Tashi viewpoint, Hanuman Tok, Ganesh Tok, Bakhtang Waterfall, Enchey Monastery, Flower exhibition centre, handicraft centre(closed on Sunday), Chorten Stupa, Institute of Tibetology, Ropeway Overnight at Gangtok.
DAY 4: GANGTOK TO DARJEELING
After having breakfast move towards Darjeeling which is a beautiful hill town set in West Bengal which is known for its tea plantations. The place makes one experience the most breath-taking views of the Himalayas. on the way visit to Triveni viewpoint. After reaching Darjeeling, check-in to the hotel and after fresh up can have a Toy Train ride (BY OWN) free to roam Darjeeling market in the evening.
DAY 5: TIGER HILL & DARJEELING SIGHTSEEING
Early Morning at 3:45 am will move towards tiger hill. It is famous for its panoramic view of Mount Everest and MT Kanchenjunga together and early morning sunrise. On the way back to hotel visit the famous Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop. After breakfast will have sightseeing which includes, Japanese temple, Peace pagoda, Ava art gallery, Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (Closed on Thursday), Ropeway, Tenzing Gumpo Rock, Tibetan Refugee Self Help Centre (Closed on Sunday).
DAY 6: KURSEONG VISIT & DROP TO BAGDOGRA
After having breakfast will move towards Airport/NJP via Kurseong.

Something you must do in Mumbai is visit the Gateway of India, which was built to commemorate the arrival of King George V and Queen Mary. A ceremony there signaled the end of the British Raj in 1948. From there, you can catch ferry rides to locations including Elephanta Island.

One of the best places in Mumbai to shop for unique, inexpensive souvenirs is the Colaba Causeway Market. It’s a great spot to find women’s clothing, jewelry, and even original Rajasthani silk paintings. The lanes are tight, so be patient and polite!

If you’re looking for fantastic Indian street food, you have to visit Juhu Beach. It’s always packed with people and is one of the best places to find paneer chili, one of my all-time favorite Indian street foods! It’s so creamy and flavorful!

One of the best spots to relax in Mumbai is Versova Beach, which has recently become a great place to sunbathe or enjoy water sports. Don’t miss the nearby Kolaba Fort and restaurants in the vicinity!
7. Eat Pani Puri
My favorite Indian street food of all time is Pani Puri, a Maharashtrian specialty made of a crispy, hollow dough ball that’s filled with chickpeas, onion, potato and a watery soup called pani. It’s savory, spicy, and a little minty and oh so good!
8. Visit the Global Vipassana Pagoda
Northwest of Mumbai near the village of Gorai, you’ll find the beautiful Global Vipassana Pagoda, a large meditation hall that was built as a monument to peace and harmony. It has a huge, golden spire and a massive, stone dome!
9. CST Railway Station Street Food
Another of Mumbai’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites is CST Railway Station. Outside, you can find amazing street foods including dahi puri, ragda pattice, sev puri, and an insanely good pav bhaji that is out of this world!
10. Ride a Local Train
Riding Mumbai’s trains can be a wild and crazy experience for foreigners! The cars are usually packed and have huge, open sections where you can hang out the side of the car and feel the wind pass you buy!

Built in the 7th century, Shore Temple depicts the royal taste of Pallava dynasty. During the reign of Rajasimha, the temple saw its construction when Pallava art was at its apex. Ravaged by wind and sea, the temple has witnessed the historical events of India. This work of genius was recognized and listed amongst the World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.
Shore Temple is also acknowledged for being the first stone structure made by Pallavas. Before this, the monuments used to be carved out of the rocks or stones. Unlike other monuments of the region, Shore Temple is a five-storied rock-cut structural temple more willingly than monolithical. In southern India, this is one amongst the earliest and most important structural temples. The spire is extensively decorated with carvings and sculptures. In the recent years, a stone wall has been constructed to protect the shrine from further sea-erosion.

Things to do in Mahabalipuram.
This quiet town in Tamil Nadu, holds an important place within the portals of Indian history. It is here that the mighty Pallavas once ruled and built their beautiful monuments, between the 4th and 9th centuries AD. The Pallavas were a dynasty that ruled much of South India. This town was once a thriving port city and is an excellent introduction to the majestic and much famed – South Indian temple architecture. Most of the monuments here are monolithic, and have been carved out of one single rock.

Shore Temple is built using the granite stones and it is one of the oldest stone temples in South India.At the edge of a sandy beach on the Bay of Bengal, the Shore Temple is a stone temple constructed in the 7th Century. The rock-cut Shore Temple is a magnificent structure and is surrounded by statues of Nandi, the Bull. It is considered to be one of the oldest temples in South India, and the first temple in the Dravidian style that is very prevalent in temple architecture of Tamil Nadu.
Shore Temple was named as 'Seven Pagodas' due to its pyramidal structure. The name 'Seven Pagodas' indicate to the existence of 7 temples in the past. Now only Shore temple remains to tell the tales of the past.
The shore temple has two carved towers which look dazzling in the background of a blue sky.
Shore temple is a complex of 3 temples. One big temple and two small temples. In that, two temples have pyramid shaped gopura. Two shrines in the Shore Temple are dedicated to Lord Shiva. The 3rd and the small temple is the Vishnu temple. This depicts the blend of religious ideologies which existed in the past. Shore Temple looks like a Ratha (Chariot) from a distance. It is believed that Shore Temple resembles the structure of Dharmaraja Ratha.
According to folklore and the guide, the Shore Temple was underwater for many years and came into view only in the early 20th Century.. Popular theories say that the Pallava Kings made a collection of 7 temples and out of them only the Shore Temple is visible and that 6 temples still remain underwater. The locals further say that some of the submerged temples came into view during the receding waters of the Tsunami of 2004.
Because of the unique structure and extraordinary carvings on stones, this group of monuments has been declared as UNESCO World Heritage Site now. Most of these monuments are monolithic, i.e. carved out of one single rock.
Popularly believed to be the world’s largest bas-relief; Bas reliefs are structures protruding from the base of the rock. Arjuna’s Penance is visible on the road itself. There are representations of the gods, elephants, monkeys, and other creatures. A naturally occurring cleft down the rock is said to represent the Ganges, and Lord Shiva is shown to receive the water in his dreadlocks. On the left-hand side, Arjuna, one of the Pandava brothers and a consummate archer, is shown standing on one leg.
Mahishasuramardini Mandapam is remarkable for the two impressive sculpted decorations at each end of its long veranda. In the left side, Vishnu is depicted sleeping peacefully on his serpent bed, surrounded by the gods. In the panel to the right, Durga is seated riding a lion and wielding an assortment of weapons.
Among the forty heritage sites in Mahabalipuram, the Pancha Rathas hold a rather unique position. these rathas are a group of five monolithic free-standing temples that were cut out from solid granite and diorite rocks. The five temples are symbolically named after the Pandavas and Draupadi. I was absolutely floored by the initial sight of these five (panch) monolithic stone shrines. The five rathas resembles temple chariots. The five rathas complex is a little distance away from the other monuments in Mahabalipuram and the ancient sculpting techniques are astonishing. The rathas were carved out of single pieces of rock from the top down. The Pancha Rathas are unique as they are among the earliest monuments of their type in India.

The shore temple is one of the most popular temples in Mahabalipuram
Marco Polo and the European merchants who came to Asia after him called the site Seven Pagodas. One of these is believed to be the Shore Temple. The temple probably acted as a landmark for seafarers. As it appears like a Pagoda, the name became familiar to the seafarers.[5]
This structural temple complex was the culmination of the architectural creations that were initiated by the King Narasimhavarman II in mid 7th century starting with the Cave temples and the monolithic Rathas.[2] Even though the architectural creation of sculpturing cut-in and cut-out structures continued during subsequent periods, as seen in the Atiranachanda cave, the Pidari rathas and the Tiger cave, the main credit for the architectural elegance of the Shore Temple complex in the category of structural temples goes to the King Rajasimha (700–28 AD), also known as Narasimhavarman II, of the Pallava Dynasty. It is now inferred that this temple complex was the last in a series of temples that seemed to exist in the submerged coastline; this is supported by the appearance of an outline of its sister temples off the coast during the Tsunami of 2004 which struck this coastline.[1] The architecture of the Shore Temple was continued by the Cholas (in the temples that they built) who ruled Tamil Nadu after defeating the Pallavas.[6]
The tsunami of December 2004 that struck the coastline of Coromandel exposed an old collapsed temple built entirely of granite blocks. This has renewed speculation that Mahabalipuram suitshakesiye was a part of the Seven Pagodas described in the diaries of Europeans, of which six temples remain submerged in the sea. The tsunami also exposed some ancient rock sculptures of lions, elephants, and peacocks that used to decorate walls and temples during the Pallava period during the 7th and 8th centuries.[7]
Though the tsunami of 26 December 2004 that occurred in the Indian Ocean struck the temple and the surrounding garden, the Shore Temple was not badly damaged, as the water level returned to its normal level within a few minutes. The damage was to the foundation of the bali peetam (sacrificial altar) in front of the temple, the steps leading to the boat jetty, and the small shrine with the Varaha (Boar) sculpture at the basement of the Shore temple. As the temple foundation is on hard granite rock, it could sustain the waves created by the tsunami; the groynes erected around the temple area on the coastline also aided its protection.[8]
According to the two inscriptions found in the slab of smaller Shiva temple, the names of the three temples mentioned are as Kshatriyasimha Pallavesvara-gruham, Rajasimha Pallavesvara-gruham and Pllikondaruliya-devar. The entire temple complex is called as Jalashayana (lying in water). This confirms that the Vishnu shrine was the first shrine to be excavated here. The inscription on the lintel of the Vishnu shrine also mentions this as Narapatisimha Pallava Vishnu Griha where Narapatisimha is a title of Rajasimha.[5]
