Exploring the Surroundings of Dinant Belgium
Dinant is a relatively small but very picturesque city in the province of Namur in Belgium, Welcome to Robbie Travels and today we will explore city of Dinant in Belgium. The city is also known as Daughter of the Meuse.
Dinant provides a stunning spectacle, especially when you look across the Meuse and lift your gaze towards the Citadelle and the onion-domed tower of the Collegiate church, all highlighted by the ribbon of houses and shops running alongside the river. Set between a dramatic cliff and the river, Dinant invites you to enjoy the pleasures of the water in warm weather, or to scale the imposing Bayard rock.
The River Meuse is a major European river that rises from France, flowing through Belgium and the Netherlands until it trickles into the North Sea. So given how Dinant sparkles along this river body, it’s a must to bask in its beauty! You can choose to walk or lounge beside the Meuse, or you can enjoy a cruise to take in all of the breathtaking scenery.
The town has an international reputation thanks to one of its sons: Adolphe Sax. The celebrated inventor of the saxophone, Sax was born in Dinant, and the town celebrates him with an interpretation centre in the house where he was born. Several statues in the town also pay homage to the ingenious inventor. Other museums display everyday objects that have been turned into musical instruments, complete Dinant’s cultural offering.

De hele vaarroute van onze tocht door België:
Wij zijn Pieter en Marieke en sinds 2015 varen we met onze motorboot de Canicula door Nederland. Tijdens onze eerste vaartocht door Overijssel vallen we van de ene verbazing in de andere. Over de imposante bebouwing van Vollenhove, de massieve zeesluis van Blokzijl, het dijkdorp Kuinre. Geweldig! Inmiddels zijn we bijna heel Nederland door gevaren. Om iedereen te laten zien hoe mooi Nederland is vanaf het water, maken we video's van onze vaartochten en schrijven we artikelen over wat we allemaal tegenkomen onderweg. De Canicula is een St. Tropez cabincruiser van negen meter lang, tachtig centimeter diep en ruim twee meter hoog.

Balade automnale au Domaine du Château de Seneffe
Le Domaine du Château de Seneffe comprend le château lui-même et un parc de 22 hectares. Le château, édifié entre 1763 et 1768, représente une des œuvres majeures de Laurent-Benoît Dewez. Architecte très en vogue, il fut le bâtisseur officiel des Pays-Bas autrichiens. Le parc à la française ne possède plus ses originalités d'antan lorsqu'il comprenait un jardin potager ou encore, au début du 20e siècle, une roseraie et des bassins du bel effet. Il a toutefois retrouvé certains de ses aspects d'autrefois, notamment le tracé de ses allées. L'étang a aussi retrouvé son aspect d'origine. Le château est aujourd'hui reconverti en musée de l'Orfévrerie et est régulièrement le cadre de manifestations et expositions réputées.
Welkom op het domein van het kasteel van Seneffe. Eenmaal voorbij het hek en de toegangsdeur, belandt de bezoeker in een andere eeuw. In het Kasteel van Seneffe en het Zilvermuseum keert men terug naar de 18de eeuw. Het kasteel was het buitenverblijf van graaf Julien Depestre en het ademt nog steeds de levenskunst uit van deze periode. Het werd gebouwd van 1763 tot 1768 door de architect Laurent-Benoît Dewez die in die tijd erg gevraagd was. In het omringende park van 22 hectare vindt de bezoeker een aantal prachtige bouwwerken : kapel, oranjerie, theater, volière en ijskelder zijn slechts enkele voorbeelden. Wie herinnert zich de Slag bij Seneffe nog? Vandaag de dag biedt deze openbare ruimte plaats voor allerhande activiteiten, evenementen en tentoonstellingen voor het hele gezin.

Avec le COVID-19 pas de vacances à l'étranger. Alors j'en profite pour visité un peu ma région. À 30 Km de Charleroi en suivant le canal de Charleroi -Bruxelles il y a la commune de Seneffe, donc facile d'y aller à vélo.
