Best JAPANESE STREET FOOD Spots in SENDAI MORNING MARKET

Sendai Winery Tour with Picnic Lunch:
Green Sendai Morning Market Tour:

On the hunt for local Sendai street food like zunda (ずんだ - edamame paste sweets) and gyutan (牛タン - beef tongue), Shizuka Anderson visits Sendai Asaichi Morning Market (仙台朝市), near Sendai Station. Contrary to its name, the Sendai morning market is open through the afternoon and early evening, offering hot and delicious Japanese street foods and warm hospitality to visitors. Filled with local mom and pop shops, Sendai Asaichi is known for tasty treats, from savory treats made with their regional Sendai miso to unexpected beef tongue dishes.

Shizuka also learns about a local “God of Fortune,” Sendai Shiro (仙台 四郎), and visits the temple where he is enshrined. Legend has it that Sendai Shiro was a kind man with an intellectual disability, who was always smiling. All of the shops where he was warmly welcomed prospered, so he was considered a good luck charm by the businesses in the area. Their prosperity is a testament to the value of kindness and hospitality, and today Sendai Shiro’s image can be seen in many restaurants in the area.

While coastal areas of Sendai suffered extensive damage from the 3/11/11 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, the warm hospitality and friendliness of the local people is leading the city towards recovery.

The 10 Best Places To Live & Work In Japan For Expats - Around The World

Japan is a beautiful place, with a vibrant and rich culture. This country is known for its very low crime rates.
In the past, the Japanese job market was not known as being welcoming to foreigners.
Nowadays, due to a declining population and a rise in international companies, expats are finding more opportunities to work in the island nation with less stringent requirements.

The Japanese are very polite, sometimes leading to indirect and convoluted ways of dealing with issues due to fears of offending people.
Overall, it just takes an open mind and patience to learn about Japanese culture.

There are many customs and traditions to be aware of when living in Japan. Japanese culture dictates waiting in line, and expats will rarely hear a car honk, even in the middle of Tokyo.
Japan’s healthcare system is universal and one of the best in the world. Hospitals are equipped with advanced, modern technology, and doctors and nurses are highly trained.
While it’s quite difficult to find legal paths to moving and settling in Japan permanently, there are many ways and schemes that enable you to experience life in Japan for a shorter period of time.
The most famous is the JET program and if you are planning to teach in Japan or will be based there for any other reason.
