Tamina Kallerts Reise beginnt mit einer Fahrt in Harry Potters Hogwarts Express, dem Zug, in dem auch die Filmaufnahmen gemacht wurden. Auf ihren weiteren Stationen erlebt sie in einem Schnellboot die Corryvreckan-Meeresstrudel, macht eine E-Mountainbike-Tour am Fuße des Berges Ben Nevis, versucht sich im Dudelsack Spielen und erlernt einen schottischen Wettkampfsport: Steine übers Wasser hüpfen lassen. Außerdem besucht sie die traumhafte Insel Skye mit ihren geschichtsträchtigen Clanfamilien und Burgen, und lernt auf der Insel Lewis and Harris Tweed zu weben. Als Höhepunkt füttert sie Seeadler vom Boot aus.

After the finish of the 2019 Dufftown Highland Games in Moray, Scotland, the 11 pipe bands form up and march as one massed group playing 'Scotland the Brave' back through Dufftown to finish at the famous Clock Tower.
Led by Drum Major Nick Stables from Dufftown & District Pipe Band, the other 10 bands were Arberlour Community & District Pipe Band, Ballater & District Pipe Band, Buckie & District Pipe Band, Ellon & District RBL Pipe Band, Forres & District Pipe Band, Huntly & District Pipe Band, Kintore Pipe Band, Lonach Pipe Band, Strathisla Pipe Band and Towie & District Pipe Band.

Der mehrfache amerikanische Meister Klaus Marbe bringt Tobi auf seinem Parcour bei, wie man richtig mit einem Fatbike durchs Gelände fährt. Etwas gruselig wird es in Alsfeld im Escaperoom von Torsten Schneider. Er hat aus Originalrequisiten des Kinofilms „Die Wolf-Gäng“ einen fantastischen Rätselort gebaut. Wird der hr3-Morningshow-Moderator hier entkommen und die Welt retten können? Genau sein Ding ist das urige Dorfbräuhaus in Wartenberg. Aus dem ehemaligen Feuerwehrspritzenhaus haben Gunther Thias und Lars Hauck eine schicke Dorfkneipe gebaut, in der sie ihr eigenes Bier brauen. Wie wird Tobi das Haferbier schmecken?

A Quick Trip to Friedberg, Germany
In this video I share some of the highlights of my quick trip to Friedberg, Germany.
Friedberg is a small town in Germany 25-kilometers away from Frankfurt am Main.
I visited Friedberg during the middle of August and it was surprisingly quiet. There were hardly any tourists around and my girlfriend that I had the town to ourselves to explore.
After an hour there wasn't much else to do in Friedberg so we continued on with the rest of our Central European and German road trip.

Schrödinger's viaduct: the 24 Halls of Friedberg
It's a railway viaduct, built in 1850 against the better judgement of the railway company, at the insistence of a local aristocrat. The 24 Halls of Friedberg still stand to this day, and nobody knows what to do with them. It probably doesn't help that some bureaucratic red tape means that it's legally supposed to be demolished... but can't legally be demolished.

Standort: südwestlich der Stadt Schotten im Vogelsbergkreis in Hessen, etwa einen Kilometer südöstlich des Niddastausees, der Weg ist von dort ausgeschildert. Naturdenkmal. Gesät 1895, im Frühjahr 1900 vom Förster Schott anlässlich der Geburt seines Sohnes gepflanzt. Die Informationstafel beim Mammutbaum stammt anscheinend noch aus den 60-er Jahren. Zur Zeit der Aufnahme, vom Jahr der Aussaat an gerechnet, zählt der Riese 120 Jahre auf seiner gefurchten Rinde.Es sind Fossilienfunde von 15 Millionen Jahre alten Stämmen bekannt. Die ältesten heute noch lebenden Mammutbäume in ihrer Herkunftsgegend sollen über 3000 Jahre alt sein. Vorfahren lassen sich bis in die Kreidezeit vor 125 Millionen Jahre zurückverfolgen und waren über weite Teile der Nordhalbkugel verbreitet. Sie waren zu den Warmzeiten ursprünglich auch in Mitteleuropa heimisch, haben aber die Eiszeiten nicht überstanden. Pflanzensammler und Botaniker brachten die Samen erst gegen Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts wieder nach Europa, was zunächst dadurch befeuert wurde, dass es für die Reichen als chic galt, sich einen Mammutbaum in den Park oder die Gartenanlage zu stellen.Die Ausmaße der Mammutbäume sind im Pflanzenreich umwerfend gigantisch. Die riesigen Bäume, die sich heute noch in den Himmel recken, wuchsen schon bevor Jesus in seiner Strohkrippe bejubelt oder Rom zum Weltreich wurde. Über 3000 Jahre alt erreichen sie einen Stammdurchmesser von mehr als 10 Metern, eine Höhe von über 100 Metern und ein Mammutbaum von mächtigem Kaliber wiegt dann schonmal etwa 2400 Tonnen. Zum Vergleich: das sind umgerechnet etwa 353 Tyrannosaurus Rex, 18 Blauwale oder 6 vollgetankte Airbus A380.Wen es weiter interessiert: überall im Internet finden sich unzählige Geschichten zum Mammutbaum. Oder einfach selbst besuchen.

Stirling (schottisch-gälisch Sruighlea, Scots Stirlin) ist eine nordwestlich von Edinburgh gelegene schottische Stadt mit 36.142 Einwohnern. Die heute noch erhaltene mittelalterliche Altstadt entwickelte sich um die große Burg (Stirling Castle) herum, die immer noch das Stadtbild beherrscht.
Stirling war in früheren Jahrhunderten schon einmal (als Burgh) eine Hauptstadt von Schottland, in der Gegenwart ist es ein Verwaltungs- und Handelszentrum mit wenig Industrie. Trotz seiner Bedeutung in der Geschichte erhielt es erst anlässlich des 50-jährigen Thronjubiläums von Königin Elisabeth II. im Jahr 2002 die heutigen Stadtrechte. Die Stadt gibt einem schottischen Verwaltungsbezirk den Namen: Stirling Council Area.
Stirling wird oft als „Tor zum Hochland“ bezeichnet, da hier die flache Hügellandschaft des schottischen Tieflands auf die steilen Hänge des Hochlands trifft.

Stirling Castle ist ein Schloss in Schottland. Es liegt über der Altstadt von Stirling auf dem Schlossberg („Castle Hill“), einem steil aufragenden Hügel vulkanischen Ursprungs. Stirling Castle ist nationales Denkmal und wird von der staatlichen Denkmalschutzbehörde Historic Scotland verwaltet.
Die meisten Gebäude von Stirling Castle stammen aus der Zeit zwischen 1496 und 1583, als das Schloss unter den schottischen Königen Jakob IV., Jakob V. und Jakob VI. sowie unter der Witwe des Königs Jakob V., Marie de Guise, markant ausgebaut wurde. Einige Gebäudeteile aus dem 14. Jahrhundert sind erhalten geblieben, während die Befestigungsanlagen teilweise aus dem frühen 18. Jahrhundert stammen.

Als Gegenleistung für die Freilassung von Wilhelm I. besetzten die Engländer im Jahr 1174 erstmals die Burg, gaben diese jedoch 1189 wieder zurück. Um 1280 fanden umfangreiche Baumaßnahmen statt, wovon jedoch nichts erhalten blieb. Während der englische König Eduard I. über die Nachfolge des verwaisten schottischen Thrones entschied, gelangte Stirling Castle 1291 erneut unter englische Kontrolle. Am 11. September 1297 siegten die von William Wallace angeführten Schotten in der Schlacht von Stirling Bridge und eroberten auch die in unmittelbarer Nähe stehende Burg zurück. Nach der Schlacht von Falkirk ging die Burg zwar wieder an die Engländer verloren, doch konnte Robert the Bruce sie 1299 nach einer Belagerung erneut einnehmen.
Über das Wallace Monument (aus Wikipedia):
Das Wallace Monument ist ein 67 m hoher vierkantiger Turm, welcher 1869 bei Stirling, Schottland, zum Gedenken an William Wallace errichtet wurde. Der im neugotischen Stil erbaute Turm befindet sich 1,5 km nordöstlich von Stirling auf dem Berg Abbey Craig an der Straße nach Dunbley. Angeblich soll Wallace von diesem Hügel aus die englische Armee beobachtet haben, ehe er die schottischen Truppen beim Angriff befehligte. Die Bauzeit betrug acht Jahre. Ortsansässige behaupten, man habe den Turm als Attraktion für englische Touristen erbaut.
Das Wallace Monument beherbergt ein ganzjährig geöffnetes Museum mit Informationen zur Schlacht von Stirling Bridge und zu bekannten schottischen Persönlichkeiten. Gleich neben der Eingangstür trifft man auf eine lebensgroß nachgebaute Figur des Freiheitskämpfers, die zu einer Figur des englischen Königs sagt: „Du hast zwar meinen Körper, aber niemals meine Loyalität und meinen Respekt.“
Im ersten Stock befindet sich der William Wallace Talking Head, eine 3D-Animation, die dem Besucher die Geschichte von William Wallace und der Schlacht von Stirling Bridge erzählt. Außerdem ist dort William Wallaces Schwert ausgestellt. Nach dem Film Braveheart verzeichnete das Wallace Monument eine Verdreifachung der Besucherzahlen.
Stockwerk 2 beherbergt die „Hall of Heroes“: eine Ausstellung zu anderen schottischen Persönlichkeiten, insbesondere jenen des 20. Jahrhunderts. Noch eine Etage höher wird die Geschichte des Monuments selbst erzählt. Außerdem wird gezeigt, wo in der Welt es noch Denkmale für William Wallace gibt.
Eine Aussichtsplattform, genannt The Crown, befindet sich oben am Turm und bietet Aussicht auf Stirling und das Stirling Castle.
