Greetings from Lüneburg, Germany! Today, we’re going to be visiting a town that rose to prosperity during the Middle Ages thanks to salt, AKA white gold. This is a legacy that is still visible today, namely in the form of dipping streets and leaning buildings, but we’ll get to that part a bit later in the video. In today’s tour, we’ll show you where to get the best panoramic views of Lüneburg, we’ll admire that Gothic red-brick architecture that dominates the town, we’ll walk along the river and spot the old medieval crane, we’ll sample some unique chocolate flavours (including salt - the local favourite), and we’ll finish the day with some hearty dishes in a cozy German pub. The following is our Lüneburg travel guide and in this video, we’re going to be sharing 10 things to do in Lüneburg during your visit.

Ihre ständigen Begleiter sind der Wind und der Sand: an den Stränden, auf der größten Wanderdüne Nordeuropas und an der Steilküste von Lønstrup, wo ein Leuchtturm fast vom Sand begraben wurde. Und hyggelig ist Vieles: das kalte Bier in der Strandsauna ebenso wie meditatives Arbeiten an der Töpferscheibe.
In Northern Jutland, Tamina Kallert searches for the proverbial Danish cosiness (hyggelig) and finds relaxed people, old traditions, spectacular natural phenomena, towns with pastel-colored houses - and a very special light. Tamina travels along the west coast, via the idyllic Lønstrup to the surf town of Lokken and the wild Jammerbugten. She drives through the Limfjord to the Baltic Sea coast and returns to Skagen via Sæby. Your constant companions are the wind and the sand: on the beaches, on the largest hiking dune in Northern Europe and on the steep coast of Lønstrup, where a lighthouse was almost buried by the sand. And a lot is hyggelig: the cold beer in the beach sauna as well as meditative work on the potter's wheel.

Scandinavian countries start in Denmark. Over the years, a lot has changed. Formerly famed for its fearsome warriors, and Vikings. Today, it is a tranquil modern nation where cutting-edge architecture coexists with historical structures. You'll visit charming fishing communities that can trace their roots to the Vikings, so you should try their most well-known fish, the herring, possibly at a smorrebrod. You may visit palaces and castles in Denmark, the country of Hans Christian Andersen, where perhaps some of his fairy stories actually did come true.
10. Ribe.
The saying You're not getting old, you're getting better is a fitting description of Ribe, the oldest town in Denmark. Ribe, a town in Jutland, was established as a Viking marketplace in 700, and it has the oldest town hall in the nation. Although it was constructed in 1496, it wasn't used as a town hall until 1709.
9. Gilleleje.
A nation as far north as Denmark might not seem to have a Riviera, yet it has. Gilleleje, a charming fishing village on the North Sea at the top of Zealand, serves as the center of the Danish Riviera. During World War II, fishermen made effective use of their boats to evade German occupiers and smuggle Danish Jews into Sweden, which was only 25 kilometers away.
8. Elsinore.
One of the most well known castles in the world, Kronborg, which served as the location for Shakespeare's Hamlet, is located in Elsinore, also known as Helsingr. Here, the play has been presented yearly for 80 years. A fortification and a chapel surrounded by convents were built a century before to the founding of the former medieval fishing hamlet.
7. Aalborg.
Another historic Danish city, Aalborg, has evolved over time into a major industrial and cultural (with a focus on cultural) hub. It is well known for its theater, symphony, and opera, as well as for the Aalborg Carnival, the biggest carnival festival in Scandinavia.
6. Roskilde.
One of the country's early capitals, Roskilde, is situated 30 km west of Copenhagen, the current capital of Denmark. It is one of the oldest cities in Denmark and the location of numerous royal tombs. The first brick Gothic cathedral in Scandinavia, Roskilde Cathedral, houses their royal graves. It was built in the 12th century. The Viking Ship Museum, which houses the remnants of five Viking ships that were sunk to defend Roskilde from maritime attackers, is another important site.
5. Skagen.
The northernmost city of Denmark, Skagen, serves as both the nation's principal fishing port and one of the most visited locations in Denmark, drawing two million tourists a year. Impressionist painters loved painting the picturesque seascapes, long sandy beaches, and fisherman in this beautiful community in the 19th century.
4. Bornholm.
Bornholm, a Baltic Sea Island that is closer to the borders of Poland and Sweden than Denmark, is well known for its glass and pottery. Four of the island's historic churches are circular, and several villages have charming windmills.
Number 3. Odense.
Odense, which means Odin's shelter, is better known for other things than for providing a haven for devotees of this Norse god. There are numerous statues and sculptures of Hans Christian Andersen's characters scattered across the city because it is both his birthplace and childhood home.
2. Aarhus.
Aarhus is the second largest city in Denmark with a population of 330000. It began as a Viking settlement that was fortified in the eighth century. In Kafka's Castle, K is alone when he arrived in that village because he does belong neither to the castle nor village. Life is never about black and white. K created his own world, a place on the rim of the world to find his true meaning of life. The feeling of running away and looking for something at the same time. Ambiguous, amorphous.
As for me, I am not running away or looking for anything here in the Black Forest. Maybe one day, I'm not sure when, but what will be, will be. Someday I will leave everything behind to live in the woods. And now, it's just a moment of chasing the shadow of the Black Forest.

Hvide Sande | Tyskerhavn - Old Harbour | Fisherboats & Houses
Ein alter Ort, mitten in Hvide Sande. Ich habe den Ort bei einer Radtour am Fjord entlang zufällig entdeckt. Plötzlich ist man ganz woanders und in einer anderen Zeit. Der Hafen wurde bereits 1912 gebaut und man mach wirklich eine kleine Zeitreise, wenn man an diesen Ort kommt. Der Hafen diente erst einmal den Baumaterialen für den Bau der Schleuse zwischen Ringkøbing Fjord und Nordsee.
Hvide Sande wurde nach der Fertigstellung der Schleuse 1931 gegründet und der Hafen wurde nach dem Bau der Schleuse als Fischereihafen genutzt. Der Name ist ein wenig irreführend. Der Hafen der Deutschen, geht auf den Namen der Region zurück, die Gegend wurde nämlich damals auch als Tyskland (Deutschland) bezeichnet. Ich empfehle euch auf jeden Fall den Besuch, falls ihr einmal in der Region seid.

Et gammelt sted midt i Hvide Sande. Jeg opdagede stedet ved et tilfælde på en cykeltur langs fjorden. Pludselig er du et andet sted og i en anden tid. Havnen blev bygget allerede i 1912, og du tager virkelig en lille rejse tilbage i tiden, når du kommer til dette sted. Havnen blev først brugt til byggematerialer til opførelsen af slusen mellem Ringkøbing Fjord og Nordsøen.
Hvide Sande blev grundlagt efter at slusen blev færdiggjort i 1931, og havnen blev brugt som fiskerihavn efter at slusen blev bygget. Navnet er lidt misvisende. Tyskernes havn går tilbage til regionens navn, fordi området også blev kaldt Tyskland på det tidspunkt. Jeg anbefaler helt klart et besøg, hvis du nogensinde er i regionen.

An old place, in the middle of Hvide Sande. I discovered the place by chance during a bike ride along the fjord. Suddenly you are somewhere else and in another time. The harbor was built as early as 1912 and you really do a little time travel when you come to this place. The harbor first served the building materials for the construction of the lock between Ringkøbing Fjord and the North Sea.
Hvide Sande was founded after the completion of the lock in 1931 and the harbor was used as a fishing port after the lock was built. The name is a bit misleading. The port of the Germans, goes back to the name of the region, namely the area was also called Tyskland (Germany) at that time. I definitely recommend a visit if you are ever in the region.
