Ans: The India-Bhutan border gate at Samdrup Jongkhar has reopened for tourists since September 23, 2022.
Q: Is VISA required to enter Bhutan?
Ans: Samdrup Jongkhar is the oldest town in Bhutan. Indians do not need VISAs to enter Bhutan through the India-Bhutan border gate at Samdrup Jongkhar but need a permit.
Q: What documents are required for Indians to enter Bhutan?
Ans: Indian visitors are required to produce Identification proof, either Passport or Voter ID Card. Point to be noted that no other ID proofs are accepted.

How to Reach:-
Samdrup Jongkhar' is juts 108 KM away from Guwahati , the place can be reached by car , bike , or take a bus from Guwahati to Darranga (Boarding last town). Road is very good and can enjoy the nature while driving.
What all to See:-
If Bhutanese architecture interests you then you will like seeing the newest Dzong of Bhutan i.e. the Samdrup Jongkhar Dzong. Unlike all other dzongs this one is made from cement and does not even stand at a strategic point/ cliff or a vantage point. The Dzong is built on a plain vast piece of land and has clean modern lines that are a stark contrast to the mystical effect of the older dzongs. The Samdrup Dzong is inside the town and serves as the administrative and judicial centre of the town.
#Zangtopelri Lhakhang is a new monastery located across from the entrance to the #dzong. Even though made of cement and lacking the character of older monasteries, Zangtopelri is perhaps Samdrup Jongkhar's only tourist site.
Mithun Breeding Farm On the highway leading to Samdrup Jongkhar in Orong (right above Dewathang a small hamlet) is one of the major attractions of Eastern Bhutan. Orong is visited by many tourists who flock in to see the Mithun Breeding Farm. The splendid Mithun or Bison is bred here and this is supposedly the best breeding farm in East Bhutan. The Mithuns here are splendid robust animals and the experience is sure to be great for photographers and naturalists.
#Hanumaanmandir NK Darranga. Nearest border of samdrup jongkhar in nk darranga their is Hindu temple. This temple is big temple in 50 km around and peacefull area. This temple committee run by both bhutan and assam people. The most popular festival is Hanumaan Jayanti in which all people of both assam and bhutan border celebrate together in this temple.
DC court , court of justice and a monastery on the same campus is a breath taking view .
A temple in the market area is also a very beautiful place to see.
Shopping. Just past the border gate is an Indian market called Mella Bazaar. Here, there are an array of stalls selling goods at much lower prices than in Samdrup Jongkhar and some specializing in Assamese and northern Indian food. The chaos and noise is quite a contrast to the peace and harmony that exists just the otherside of the gate in Bhutan.
