What's up fellow Wanderers! Welcome back to the Exploring in British Columbia with today's video focusing in on the wharf located in Salmon Arm on Shuswap Lake.
Salmon Arm is a city in the Shuswap Country of the Southern Interior of the Canadian province of British Columbia that has a population of 17,464 (2011). It is on the shores of Shuswap Lake, where the Salmon River empties into the Salmon Arm reach of the Lake. It is a tourist town in the summer, with many beaches, camping facilities and house boat rentals. Salmon Arm is home to the longest wooden wharf in North America. There are many things for tourists and locals alike to do in Salmon Arm and its surrounding area such as hiking in the nearby Herald Provincial Park, take in the local museum at the R.J. Haney Heritage Village and Museum, boating on Shuswap Lake itself or make the 2 hour 20 minute drive to Wells Gray Provincial Park aptly named the Land of Waterfalls for good reason as there are so many of said water feature in the park!

It has been a difficult year to enjoy the great outdoors, however, my parents and I were able to travel to a small, beautiful city named Salmon Arm where it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. It was such a beautiful trip where we got to visit some of Salmon Arm's popular destinations such as their wharf, Syphon Falls & trail head, Margaret falls & trail head, Shuswap lake, Herald Park & Sun Peaks. Shuswap Lake Nature Bay Wharf, Salmon Arm Canada
Glaciers and snowmelt from the Monashee Mountains to the east and north supply Shuswap Lake. North America's longest freshwater wooden wharf abuts a 40 hectare wildlife sanctuary. Bastion Mountain (north), Fly Hills (west), Mount Ida (south), and Larch Hills (east) surround Salmon Arm.

I've been to Salmon Arm around 6 or 7 or 8 or 9 times in my life. One of my worst hangovers was in Salmon Arm. They were really nice people...
Maybe I should give some more detail. I was a student at UBC (the local university) and I studied music. The wind ensemble did a tour (I assume this is kind of like a propoganda tour to promote the university) and all the students had to do a homestay.
The evening started early enough and we were at the table drinking with the homestay mom and dad. Then all these different bottles started to come out. We poured and poured and talked and talked.
Well, bed time came and all I remember after that was waking up in the morning looking up at the ceiling in the bathroom.

Driving to SALMON ARM, British Columbia. Slow Life in Canada.
I've never heard anything about the salmon from Salmon Arm in BC Canada.

Day 22 - Pierre's Point CG, Salmon Arm, BC
Canada Bound - Day 22 ended up being quite an unexpected adventure. Our original plan was to visit Mount Revelstoke National Park and then camp just outside the park. We were eager to drive the Meadows in the Sky scenic road to the top of Mount Revelstoke but it was so foggy and rainy we couldn't see much of anything. Not wanting to camp in the rain we decided to just retrace the last part of our route and head to Salmon Arm for the night. This would really cut our drive the next day to Blue River. As it turned out, less than 2 hours after we passed by, there was a landslide and flooding that closed the Trans Canada highway for about a week. If we hadn't made that last minute change to our plan, it would have meant a 300 mile detour to get to our next destination. Pierre's Point Campground was on a large lake and offered a Passport America discount.
