The surrounding park is known for Jozan Inari Shrine’s fox statues. Across the castle moat, Shiomi Nawate street is lined with Edo-period samurai residences. The Lafcadio Hearn Former Residence was the Greek writer’s local home. Pleasure boats ply the waters of vast Lake Shinji.

Discover Matsue City in Shimane | Japan Travel
Hey Everyone,
In this video, I make my way down south to Matsue City in Shimane Prefecture. Matsue City may be one of the least visited cities in Japan but it has so many incredible places to see. Just an hour outside of the city is Izumo Taisha Shrine, which is not only one of the oldest shrines in Japan but also the largest! Within Matsue City itself, is one of only 12 original castles in Japan. The Castle is located right in the center of the city on top of a hill, which provides visitors with an amazing view of the entire city!
Another exciting must-see spot that Matsue has is Vogal Park! The park has a stunning display of flowers on top of housing an incredible variety of birds. My favorite part of the park is definitely being able to see some of these birds in action at the many bird shows that they have.

Sakaiminato is a whimsical city located west of Japan's Tottori prefecture. It is famous for being the hometown of Mizuki Shigeru, the creator of the popular manga series GeGeGe no Kitaro, which depicts the world of the yokai (spirit-monsters or phantoms of Japanese folklore). The city is full of shops, sculptures, and murals dedicated to the manga, and it is the main draw for tourists visiting Sakaiminato. The 100 bronze yokai statues that line Mizuki Shigeru Road facing the station are characters in Mizuki's manga series GeGeGe no Kitaro.
The seaport of Sakaiminato has a long history as a seaport. Following World War II the city has served as the base of the fishing industry for all of Western Japan. Sandwiched between a sacred mountain, a sweeping bay, and an inland lake, the Sakaiminato and Yonago area is a worthwhile place to visit. Mt. Daisen dominates the sky to the east, and viewed from this side, bears a striking resemblance to Mt. Fuji. It is known to many as mini Fuji.
The area has long featured in Japanese folklore and is an area of spiritual and mystical significance.
According to an 8th-century chronicle, The Izumo Fudoki, one of the gods involved in Japan's creation wished to make the nation larger. He did this by using a rope and a stake to pull a piece of land from across the sea towards Japan. The stake became Mt. Daisen, and the rope became what is now the Yumigahama Peninsula.

Tottori Prefecture is located in the west side of Japan's main Honshu Island, facing the Japan Sea. The most famous place in Tottori is the Tottori Sand Dunes. But there are many other attractive places in Tottori, such as Sakaiminato and Mt. Daisen Area.

Длина Mizuki Shigeru Poad - всего 800 метров, но тут буквально на каждом шагу прохожих ждут герои манги Гэгэгэ но Китаро. Причём её жанр - традиционные японские ужасы, поэтому порой они выглядят жутковато.
Рядом с фигурками полно магазинов с сувенирами и вкусностями, есть несколько кафешек. Улица узкая, необычная - даже светофоры здесь стрекочут каждый по-своему.
