Q: How long was the trip?
A: Around 18 days. But I would say it's doable in 2 weeks. If you want more time to explore then 3 weeks should be more than adequate.
Q: How many days do I need in each city?
A: I would say 3-5 days in Kyoto and Osaka. Nara 1-2 days. At least 4-6 days in Tokyo but the more the better.
Q: How much did it cost?
A: Excluding hotels + airplane tickets we had a budget of around 2000 USD
Q: Is there vegan restaurant options in Japan?
A: Yes, I found plenty, and most restaurants offer vegan-friendly meals
Q: Which month did you go?
A: We visited in July but I would recommend visiting in either the Autumn or Spring season

Free Breakfast in Japan?! 3 Nagoya Breakfast Spots for Budget Travelers

A Japanese breakfast tradition that is said to have originated in Nagoya, “morning service” is a special deal where customers can enjoy a free breakfast with the order of a drink. (They say the early bird gets the worm for a reason.)
Here, Shizuka visits 3 coffee shops offering their own unique take on the morning service, starting with Komeda’s Coffee, a chain that first opened in Nagoya in 1968. For the price of a cup of coffee, Shizuka gets the classic toasted shokupan (Japanese milk bread) with egg salad and butter; and tries another menu item–Komeda’s danish (called Shiro-noir)!
Next up is Hanagoyomi, which offers a more traditionally Japanese morning set that comes with onigiri or rice porridge (or toast, for a more Western-style option) and a side of salad and chawanmushi (savory egg custard). The typical coffee can also be swapped out for matcha.
Lastly, Kissa Morning serves the iconic Nagoya Ogura toast, which is made with sweetened red beans on a thick slice of toasted shokupan. Their cute mascot, Yudetama-kozo (Hard-boiled Egg Boy) is a supernatural being that’s said to live in the building, keeping guard against food waste!

RISD-Inami Reimagining Old Hokuriku Bank Building design presentation June 12 2020 (日本語通訳付き）
9 young designers from Rhode Island School of Design, led by Professor Wolfgang Rudorf, meeting the Inami community for the first time. Presenting 9 adaptive reuse design ideas for the abandoned historic Hokuriku Bank building, that they have been working on since late January 2020. This was meant to be a Japan travel studio which the group planned to visit rural town Inami for site survey and cultural immersion. As the program was disrupted by COVID19 pandemic, the group relied on research support provided by the local community of Inami. Information about the bank building is limited. Site survey was disrupted. Regardless, 10,000km away, students from RISD worked their way into creating new ideas in the best effort to understand local culture and challenges.
On June 12, 9 ideas was presented via zoom, to over 20 members from the Japan community, including municipal government groups, academics, and Inami residents.

If you like Japanese Street Food, you should definitely check this place out. This is my Tokyo Street Food Tour for cheap local Tokyo food. This Streetfood in Tokyo is one of a kind as it is very inexpensive and has all sorts of food. One of my favorites in this 180 shop, 610 meeter hidden street is the yakitori street food and the unagi street food. Definitely worth trying if you come here.

Walking in Mikunicho Midorigaoka, Sakai, Fukui
Walking From Mikuni Jinjya Station to Mikuni Ryūshōkan Museum,
The building has a design reminiscent of a modern wooden Western-style building . It is located on the hill of Midorigaoka, and you can see Mikuni Minato, Mikuni city area, and Hakusan from the observation room on the 4th floor of the main building .
Inside the museum, a large model of the Kitamae ship , floats used in the Mikuni festival , samurai dolls, materials related to Ryusho Elementary School and Essel will be exhibited, and the history and culture of Mikuni and Mikuni Minato will be introduced.
The whole area of Mikuni Port is registered with Minato Oasis , and this building is one of the constituent facilities of Minato Oasis Mikuni Minato.
