Recently I had the good opportunity to visit Mizoram, a sate that is so special and unique. I travelled across many parts of Mizoram and documented my journey.
This video is part of my Mizoram series which is produced, directed and edited by me (Swathi Hariharan), cinematography by Akshay and special thanks to Surita for guiding us through Mizoram.
In this video, we explore Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram. Aizawl is a beautiful city and there is a ton to see in Aizawl, we will be covering some of the things you can do in Aizawl.
Tourism in Mizoram is highly underdeveloped and one can say it is unexplored. I am making this video with hope that after watching this some of you might want to visit Mizoram and experience the amazing hospitality and unique culture of Mizoram. This is just the beginning, it's getting better :)

I met a stranger off the internet in India, and it turned out to be one of the best days ever. Dino took me all around Aizawl and showed me the city like only a local can! He showed me traditional Mizo villages, Mizo food, and the spectacular natural beauty Mizoram has. I feel in love with Aizawl, and now it's one of my favourite cities alongside New Delhi, Vadodara, and Hampi.

We visited the top tourist attractions of Aizawl including Falkawn village, Lalsavunga Park, Solomon's Temple (Church), Bara Bazaar, Mizoram State Museum, and got a fantastic sunset view of Aizawl.
Aizawl is the most beautiful, clean, and picturesque hill station I've ever been to in India! I was really blown away by this hard to get to and little-explored city. It's so unexplored in India because the airport is 1.5 hours away from the Aizawl and it's situated in the rugged mountains - so travel is not easy or comfortable in the state.
Aizawl, Mizoram, India, is a difficult place to travel to, but you'll be rewarded with natural beauty, friendly locals, and great food if you dare to venture there.

Sunday is a very special day in Mizoram as it dedicated to going to Church. Christianity is huge part of people's life in Mizoram and the entire state in in-operational on Sundays especially before 3pm as they would be service during that time. This is something unique and in this video I take you with me as we spent a Sunday in Aizawl, just like the locals.
In this video we also experience a little bit of Mizo hospitality, I must say Mizo people are very very welcoming and sweet.

Reiek Heritage Village - Mizoram
Glimpse of Reiek village in Mizoram.
Reiek is a mountain and tourist spot 29 km from Aizawl, Mizoram, India. It rests at an elevation of 1548 metres overlooking Aizawl and offers a view of the surrounding valleys and hills. On a clear day the plains of Bangladesh can be seen from the top of the hill. Reiek Hill is surrounded by thick lush green temperate trees and bushes.
Reiek has a typical Mizo village consisting of the distinctive traditional huts of the different Mizo sub-tribes, Mizo chieftain’s house, a bachelor’s dormitory and that of a widow has been created and maintained by Tourism Department of Mizoram. The houses are fully furnished giving the visitor a peek into the glorious past of the valiant highlanders. A few Mizo modern houses have also been constructed nearby to show the changes that have taken place in the Mizo way of life in keeping pace with the modern developments. The Department also has a cafeteria and a resort providing decent food and accommodation. This is also the venue for the annual Anthurium festival and the best time to visit would be in April.
