Vallei Nete/Rupel (2/4) Van Duffel tot Rumst
In Reizen Langs Rivieren volgen we een rivier van bron tot monding
In Lier komen de Kleine Nete en de Grote Nete samen tot de Nete, een rivier die zich in Rumst omvormt tot de Rupel en naar de Schelde trekt in Bornem
Boom (Belgie) aan de Rupel
Vandaag maakten we een wandeling van maar liefst 16 km. Dat was lang geleden , normaal doen we er een 10 tal.
We vertrokken in Boom, langs de Rupel en wandelden zo naar Terhagen waar we een klein bezoekje brachten. Maar het begon te regenen en te hagelen, dus eventjes geschuild om terug de dijk op te wandelen naar Rumst. Daar gingen we eentje drinken. We wandelden verder en kwamen aan het Herenbeemdenpark . Vandaar zagen we de blauwe fietsbrug liggen en gingen een kijkje nemen. Die staken we over. In de verte zagen we de Romboutstoren van Mechelen pronken. We gingen de brug af en kwamen zo in een prachtig overstromingsgebied. Daar namen we richting Klein Willebroek. Daar aangekomen namen we de veerboot naar Boom. Onze lange wandeling zat erop voor vandaag. We hebben genoten van al die prachige uitzichten . Gaan jullie mee op wandel?

Today, we took a walk of no less than 16 km. That was a long time ago, normally we do about 10.
We started in Boom, along the Rupel and walked to Terhagen where we paid a little visit. But it started to rain and hail, so we took shelter for a while and walked back up the dike to Rumst. There we went for a drink. We walked on and arrived at the Herenbeemdenpark. From there we saw the blue cycling bridge and went to take a look. We crossed it. In the distance we saw the Rombouts tower of Mechelen. We left the bridge and entered a beautiful flood area. There we took the direction of Klein Willebroek. Having arrived there we took the ferry to Boom. Our long hike was over for today. We enjoyed all those beautiful views. Are you coming along for the hike?

Where to find the 7 Trolls in Tomorrowland: Boom Belgium
If you are looking for things to do in Belgium, you wont want to miss these adorable Trolls!
We can thank Danish artist, Thomas Dambo for the mystical wooden sculptures called “The 7 Trolls and The Magical Tower”. This is one of the many reclaimed material art pieces he has made. He uses recycled materials to create sculptures, furniture, art pieces and more, this forrest is a sample of his creativity.
The trolls live in Tomorrowland, and the park is open year round, so you can Troll hunt any time! There are 7 trolls in total, and along the way you will find bridges, stairs, beautiful landscape, several play areas and lovely walking paths.
Tomorrowland is located in Boom, Belgium.
To get there by car, take the E19, or A12. De Schorre is located on the Schommeleli. Google takes you to the middle of a neighborhood, instead type in Braxgata Hockey Club . There’s lots of free parking, and you can walk right to the trailhead! You can also try looking for De Schorre main entrance.
By Bike- You will want to head between point 24 and 26 on the Belgian Bicycle network. Check out FIESTNET website, if you want to map out a route!
By Public Transport - There are a lot of options! You want to get to the main entrance of De Schrorre. Be sure to check these, as they may have changed.
-Bus 182 (Boom - Aartselarr - Antwerpen Groenplaats)
-Bus 132 (Boom - Antwerpen St Jansvliet)
-Bus 298 (Boom - Berchem)
-Bus 500 (Antwerpen - Boom - Rumst - Mechelen)
De Schrorre is open every day from sunrise to sunset, except during certain events (for example, Tomorrowland). Check their CALENDAR when you are planning your visit to make sure it’s open when you want to go. As these giants are hidden in the forest, there isn’t a bad time of year to go! It is family-friendly and is a popular attraction, so consider going first thing in the morning (by 9 am, or late afternoon) to avoid school tours and crowded hours. How long you spend is entirely up to you! I would say you need about 90 minutes to explore minimum, although if you are in a hurry and do not take much time to enjoy the creations, you can probably find them all in about 45 minutes. If you have kids or adults who need to get out and stretch, you could take hours playing and walking, and maybe even rolling down the hills!
Map
When I went, there wasn’t a map with the exact location of the Trolls. They are not too hard to find, so if you have time, I highly encourage you to wander! However, when I went to make a map for you, I found THIS!
Here’s a visual for you, in case it isn’t working.
You can start anywhere you like, there isn’t a specific order, however, for simplicity's sake, there are two places I suggest starting. The easiest to find are Una and Joures, because they aren’t in the forest at all. They are actually lying on the grass hill overlooking Tomorrowland. You can reach them by following the main walking grounds of De Schorre. These two are often called “the lovers” and are forever friends.
If you follow the walking trail from the Hockey rink, follow the main trail and you will see Hannes off to the right. Hannes sits above some ruins (you can enjoy a covered picnic under him!) He is a crafty troll and enjoys making necklaces with wooden pearls.
Little Nora is the baby. She’s only a couple million years old, so she still has her tail! She spends her days gathering magical stones for good luck.
Mikil’s power is his super troll strength! The story says he is as strong as a dragon and he is taking water from the lake with his bucket. Once you find him, if you follow the path with the stairs. If you venture closer, be prepared, you will probably get your shoes muddy and wet as you get closer.
Arvid is another creator! Her story says she loves searching for dead trees, which she uses to shape beautiful, new creations! You will see she is currently whittling something. She is particularly proud of her nose ring, which her great, great, great, great, grandmother gave her. If you have long legs, you might be able to snuggle into her arm for a snooze!
Kamiel and The Magical Tower. If you climb into his hand, you will realize just how mammoth this giant is! Don’t let the swaying of the tower scare you, It’s worth the climb to see the view from the top. Kamie’s power comes from his mask, which when he wears it, he can speak the language of every animal in the world, or any world for that matter. Take a few minutes to read the giant book, the trolls have left a powerful message for humans!

Een week met het gezin naar West Zeeuws Vlaanderen en Brugge in België. Lekker nostalgisch haaientanden zoeken langs de Zeeuwse kust en wafels eten op de kerstmarkt bij de Zuiderburen.
3 Tunnels Around Antwerp - 8K 360 Spatial Audio
Episode 2 of our roadtrip to Brussels: Picking up where we left in this video: Drive along going to the A12 Boomsesteenweg direction Antwerp (the A12 connects Brussels to Antwerp), diving in a tunnel under the river Rupel near Boom. Then going through a short tunnel at the end of the A12 connecting to the Antwerp Ring, turning back in Borgerhout to go head for the E19 direction Brussels, through the Craeybeckxtunnel, ending up at the gas station in Rumst. This 35min 8K 360 video took about 4 days to encode on Youtube after the upload :-)

Trollen zoeken in de Schorre in Boom
Trollen zoeken in de Schorre in Boom.
De Schorre in Boom is vooral bekend van het dancefestival Tomorrowland, het grootste dancefeest van Europa en ver daarbuiten.
Maar dit domein heeft meer te bieden dan dit festival.
Het is een prachtig recreatiedomein met een ruim assortiment aan recreatiemogelijkheden en sporten.
Daarnaast kan je nu ook op zoek naar de reuzengrote trollen, verscholen op verschillende plaatsen van het domein. Het ontwerp van deze trollen is van de hand van de Deense kunstenaar Thomas Dambo. De trollen zijn tussen de vier en achttien meter hoog en werden gemaakt van gerecycleerd hout, takken en bladeren.
In deze video neem ik jullie mee tijdens mijn zoektocht naar de trollen. Ik heb ze trouwens niet allemaal kunnen vinden.

Het strand van Mechelen…
Van dinsdag 30 juli tot zondag 4 augustus 2019 wordt de Grote Markt eén groot kinderstrand.
Op de Grote Markt ligt een dik zandtapijt en gezinnen met kinderen kunnen zich uitleven op dit strand in het midden van de stad … als dat geen luxe is.
Er zijn strandzetels en parasols voorhanden en zelfs de piraten zijn aanwezig ????
Ik ben vanmorgen naar de opbouw gaan kijken en ben vanavond nog even terug gegaan om het resultaat te bekijken.
Tussenin heb ik ook nog wat beelden van de omgeving van de Grote Markt gemaakt, kwestie van wat afwisseling te brengen…
Morgen, als het evenement bezig is ga ik niet langs omdat ik de mensen met kinderen niet in beeld wil brengen … privacy weet je wel ????
