How to get there: You can visit Abashiri as a day/overnight trip from Sapporo, the journey takes approximately 3.5 hours by train. The limited express train Okhotsk operated by JR Hokkaido connects Sapporo and Abashiri. There are also coach tours available from nearby cities. Once you arrive in Abashiri, there are also some other activities you can do like the following:
1. Take a cruise on the Abashiri Drift Ice: Embark on a unique cruise experience during winter to witness the incredible drift ice phenomenon in
2. Visit the Abashiri Prison Museum: Explore the former prison and learn about its history through interactive exhibits, including a replica of a prison cell and displays showcasing the life of inmates.
3. The Sea of Okhotsk. Admire the floating ice formations and the breathtaking views all along the coastline.
4. Explore the Abashiri Ryuhyo Museum: Discover the wonders of the region's drift ice at this museum. Learn about the science behind it, view aquariums with local marine life, and even touch real ice.

We are currently on our Hokkaido road trip travelling from Sapporo to Asahikawa and further up North. It is Winter in Asahikawa and so the snow is absolute magic! We share with you our day tasting ramen, exploring the Asahikawa snow festival and ice sculptures, and even horse riding through the snow.

RUMUI CITY | HOKKAIDO DESTINATION | Ogonzaki Seaside Park #hokkaido
It is summer time, and the Family will start a journey to north. Our First Stop is Rumui City Hokkaido, The CIty is famous for the view of the sunset, tourist mostly comehere during the sunset and set a camp nearby the seaside, but during this time some campsite are closed due to safety protocols, but some still open for the public like the the Ogonzaki Seaside Park. More or less 3 and half hours of drive from our starting point Kutchan Town. The route we chose is via coast and crossing tunnels, The hills and mountains are so stunning with the beautiful rock formations. Enjoy and hope when you visit Hokkaido you also consider to travel Rumoi.

4K Walk Japan 留萌市の駅前商店街を散歩 2022年6月
今回は、留萌駅の前にある商店街を歩いてみました。留萌市は札幌からは高速道路で2時間半、日本海沿いを通る一般道のルートで3時間ほどで行くことが出来ます。小樽と同じように留萌もまたかつてはニシン漁で栄えた街ですが、ニシンの不漁とともに衰退しました。通りに人影は少ないのですが、市場には新鮮な魚介類を求め、たくさんの人がいました。また近年では新しい特産品としてルルロッソという小麦が注目を集めています。主にパスタに使用されるのですが、道産食材にこだわる道内のイタリア料理店での取り扱いが増えています。この商店街にもルルロッソを使用した製麺所と、それを味わえるカフェがあります。古い街並みがまだ残っており、今後も地元の食材が楽しめるお店が増えてくるといいなと思います。

I went to Hokkaido on a day trip on March 21st, 10 days before the line was discontinued.

I took a walk in front of Yakumo Station in Yakumo-cho, Hokkaido.
Yakumo is a town in the Oshima region with a population of about 15,000.
In 2005 it merged with Kumaishi, a town on the Sea of Japan side.
As a result, Yakumo is the only town in Japan that faces both the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Japan.
