10 Worst Seaside Resort Towns in The UK

What are the worst seaside resorts in the UK? Anyone leaving home to spend some time at a resort is going with high expectations. There are tons of things to do at seaside resorts. However, it’s not all seaside resorts that live up to their designation. Some of them could be better described as anything else but resorts. Some of these pseudo-seaside resorts are there in the UK. We hereby present to you the 10 worst seaside resorts in the UK.
After considering each of them, the choice is yours to patronize them or steer clear of them. These seaside resorts in the UK were rated based on several features that are expected in seaside resorts and they were weighted over 100 points. The following are the scores.
10. Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset, England
Burnham-on-Sea is a seaside town located in Somerset, England. You would be fair to this place at the mouth of the Parrett River, upon Bridgwater Bay, if you reckon with it as a fishing village or town, for the sake of respect, that it used to be until the late 1700s when it began to grow.
While the park at Burnham-on-Sea was lovely with clean facilities and lots of activities, the resort could not score more than 48 points. The onsite pizza costs too much; you need a 10-minute walk to get a better deal. Most of the accommodation here is caravans without heating in the bedrooms. The bedding quality of the rooms is begging to be upgraded.
9. Colwyn Bay, Conwy, Wales
Colwyn Bay, a town and community in Conwy County Borough cannot escape our attention. Conwy is on the north coast of Wales where it is overlooking the Irish Sea. The town of Colwyn Bay is recognized as a seaside resort within the historic county of Denbighshire, no doubt. But what is in doubt is the quality of the resort. From what we know Colwyn Bay can’t earn more than 58 points.
Yes, the clean rooms, the security, and proximity to the North Wales Expressway, the railway station, and the beach count for something. However, the services were generally poor. The rooms are freezing without a heater and electrical fittings including plumbing were not being maintained. The food options were zero.
8. Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England
Then next is Great Yarmouth. Joining them in removing the prefix “great,” let’s comfortably join in referring to it by just Yarmouth which is more fitting than Great Yarmouth. In any case, it is recognized as a seaside resort town in Norfolk, there in England. Straddling the River Yare, it is located 30 kilometers east of Norwich.
As a seaside resort, Yarmouth ties with its more neighborly Burnham-on-Sea and Colwyn Bay in Wales to score 58. Though it has sandy beaches and two historic piers, amusement rides, and restaurants, Yarmouth as Norfolk’s flagship beach town is always crammed. Holidaymakers during the summertime suffer disorderliness here as if there are more services than the management could handle in an organized manner.
7. Morecambe, Lancashire, England
Morecambe is a town in the City of Lancaster in Lancashire, England. It’s hard to understand why Morecambe is still being referred to as a seaside resort. Up until the mid-20th century, it was a thriving seaside resort. Then it was home to the country’s largest Pontins resort.

The Lost World of Middlesex | a walk along the River Pinn (4K)

The River Pinn rises on Harrow Weald Common and flows through Pinner, Ruislip, and Uxbridge to make its confluence with Frays River and run into the River Colne. It is one of the three main rivers of the old county of Middlesex.
The Celandine Route starts at Bridge Street near the junction with Pinner High Street where the Pinn was dammed during WW2 to provide water to put out fires. We deviate from the course of the river to walk through Pinner Memorial Gardens and pick up the Pinn as it flows through Cuckoo Hill Allotments.
The river takes us to the beautiful walled garden at Eastcote House which dates from the 17th Century and then to the ancient Ruislip Manor House with its majestic great barn which was built around the year 1300. There is also the remains of a Motte and Bailey Castle on the site.
The next site of interest we pass along the river is Pynchester Moat created sometime in the 13th or 14th Century and now slumbering in suburbia.
We finish the walk on the edge of Uxbridge at sunset.

Places to see in ( Harrow - UK )

Places to see in ( Harrow - UK )

Harrow is a large suburban town in the London Borough of Harrow, northwest London, England. Harrow is centred 10.5 miles northwest of Charing Cross. Harrow was a municipal borough of Middlesex before its inclusion in Greater London in 1965. Harrow is home to a large Westminster polytechnic campus and its oldest secondary schools are Harrow School and Harrow High School.

Harrow-on-the-Hill includes the conservation area with a high proportion of listed buildings with a residential and institutional array of Georgian architecture and a few 17th century examples. Harrow gives its initial letters to a wider postcode area. The administrative offices of the borough are in the town which currently is made up of the Headstone North, Roxeth, Marlborough, Greenhill, Headstone South and West Harrow electoral wards.

Harrow historically included Harrow on the Hill, which sits on top of an outlying knoll and is contiguous with the centre of Harrow. Much of Kenton and before 1716 all of Pinner were parts of Harrow, geographical facts which root the importance of Harrow as a meeting place and a place of business. Harrow Weald, is the district north of Wealdstone, both of which were historically also part of Harrow. Harrow may also include the wards of Roxeth, Marlborough, Headstone North and Harrow on the Hill as well as the Greenhill, West Harrow and Headstone South wards listed above.

London Ruislip Lido Beach, England @Enjoythemoment-ei7bp #londontour #beachpicnic

This video is about a family picnic spot namely Ruislip Lido Beach, which is about 45 minutes drive from London!

A narrow gauge railway, Britain’s longest 12 inch Gauge railway the Ruislip Lido Railway was opened in 1945, and now runs about two thirds of the distance around the reservoir between Willow Lawn and Woody Bay stations.

At Willow Lawn station, which is at the car park end, passengers can observe the locomotive being turned on the turntable, before the train heads back to Woody Bay. It is fun, right?

The pleasant journey takes you around the lake at Ruislip Lido, with the line weaving its way through the ancient Ruislip Woods. There are two main stations on the line where passengers can start and finish their journey. Woody Bay station is beside the beach & children’s splash pad, and it is the oldest terminus on the line. All trains are wheelchair, pushchair and buggy friendly. The service is normally operated by one of the large diesel locomotives. It is fun to watch both upstream and downstream trains meet at one point and greet each other.

This is Ruislip Lido Beach, nestled in the heart of Ruislip Woods in Greater London, is one of the most visited picnic spots in England. has a fascinating story that weaves together history, nature, and community spirit.
Originally, this area was a sand and gravel quarry, essential for construction purposes in the growing city. However, as time progressed, the quarry was abandoned, leaving behind a vast hole in the ground. Rainwater filled the abandoned pit, birthing what is now known as Ruislip Lido—a picturesque lake shimmering under the open sky.

You can always geese, swans, and ducks! There is a lot of facilities for the picnic lovers. For example, there are long stretches of sand, a huge pirate ship, a large play area for children, a cafeteria, and a hiking trail. There are also washrooms available for public use. The train journey comes at a cost of around 7 pounds but the distance is quite walkable. However, you would miss the fun of riding in Britain longest 12 inch narrow gauge.
This is the place where one can come with family and kids or with friends.
