Over the past 4 years of traveling in our RV, we’ve stayed at dozens of campgrounds. Each year, we make a video to let you know about the top campgrounds we picked must see campgrounds (including Big Rig Friendly camping spots

5 Bucket List Campgrounds:

But first - Let us know in the comments the best campground You’ve ever stayed at! - Subscribe and give us thumbs up (this tells Youtube you find our videos helpful!)

Also, get your free trip planning template (link in the video!) This past year we’ve stayed at some pretty cool places and we wanted to share these top picks with you all:

00:00 Intro
01:46 #1 Gouldings in Monument Valley, Utah -
Why we love it - the views are amazing, and private hiking and walking trails right at the campground.
What to know if you go - internet service and cell service are poor in the whole region. Plan on being “unplugged” for most of the time.
Things to see: The Forest Gump road, Mexican hat, etc.

03:56 #2 Disney’s Fort Wilderness, Orlando, FL
Why we love it - the whole Disney experience is top-notch! Lots of things to do and it feels like you are in the woods.
What to know if you go - book way in advance especially around peak times like Christmas, Halloween, etc.
Things to see: rent a golf cart and drive around the campgrounds (or ride bikes) - Disney parks and transportation (ferries, etc).

06:08 #3 Pacific Dunes RV Oceano, CA
What we love about it - The dunes! These are amazing and you can climb them and head to the beach or sled down the dunes, it’s amazing!
What to know if you go - The Campground itself isn’t anything to write home about, but the dunes! Also, it’s part of the Thousands Trails system, so if you are a TT member that’s a plus.
What to see/where to go: Climb the dunes! Santa Cruz within a 30 min drive, Pismo Beach, the cinnamon rolls from Old West Cinnamon Rolls

09:06 #4 Watchman Campground Zion National Park

Why we love it - The views! Close and easy access to the shuttles (when running) and hiking trails. We walked down to a creek and played in the water.
What to know if you go: Only water and electric sites, and there is a dump station, also it was a tight fit with a 40-foot rig and our Jeep on the site.
What to see/where to go: Hiking, scenic drives - The Narrows is a bucket list item and we are glad to have done that with our family!

11:20 #5 Ramblers Rest Campground
Why we love it: Convenient location to Gulf Coast beaches, near Sarasota FL
What to know if you go: It’s a Thousand Trails park - so if you are a TT member, bonus! You can also stay at Thousand Trails parks WITHOUT being a member! I get discount codes often in my email so make sure to sign up for TT emails.
What to see/where to go: Casperson beach - look for shark teeth, Venice beach, Siesta Beach, Sarasota. Tons to do in this area of Florida!

Let us know in the comments the best campground You’ve ever stayed at!

The Ranch At Rock Creek Philipsburg Montana USA

Sign Up now for your free membership and benefit from exclusive perks and promotions in over 2000 luxury hotels worldwide.

The Ranch at Rock Creek is a luxury guest ranch that brings together upscale amenities and wide-open spaces like never before. Set among 10 square miles of rugged Montana ranchland outside Philipsburg, guests experience limitless outdoor recreational opportunities, outstanding accommodations and cuisine, and a full-service spa. Families, couples, and friends will discover that The Ranch at Rock Creek is a place that offers the feel of the 'true West' without sacrificing true comfort. The Ranch at Rock Creek is located in the heart of Western Montana, just a short drive from international airports in Missoula and Butte, near the historic mining town of Philipsburg, Montana.

The Granite Lodge sits on a small ridge just west of Rock Creek and is the primary home base during a visit to The Ranch. The great room and the dining room are located here, and the Silver Dollar Saloon with the four-lane bowling alley, pool table, and 14-foot HD television screen. Also located in The Lodge's wing, The Mercantile is stocked with beautiful gifts and supplies, while the five-room Spa offers an array of professional treatments.

There are nine rooms in The Granite Lodge, each finding design inspiration in iconic Western themes, such as the great old railroad hotels during the turn of the century and the classic guns that helped win the West. Accommodations at The Ranch at Rock Creek are varied; in addition to the nine rooms in the stunning main lodge, The Ranch also features 3 Historic Barn Rooms, 7 Private Log Cabin Homes, and 10 Canvas Cabins (for a glamping experience).

The Ranch's cuisine reflects its pure surroundings - prime organic beef, elk, bison, free-range chicken, organic eggs, fresh fish, seasonal local fruits, vegetables, and fresh herbs, all enhanced by an inspired wine list. Chef Josh Drage is a superb chef who hails from right here in Montana. His skills and attention to detail are reflected in menu items such as Montana elk ribeye with Flathead cherry demi-glace, watermelon and fennel salad, and white chocolate macadamia nut brownies. Meals are served in The Granite Lodge, with some flexibility to accommodate guests' individual schedules and preferences. This way, if you'd rather be out fishing the evening rise than rushing back for dinner, you won't miss out on The Ranch's remarkable culinary experience.

Rejuvenation and relaxation are a part of the total experience at The Ranch at Rock Creek, with professional massage therapy treatments available in the dedicated five-room spa inside the stone-and-timber Granite Lodge. Swedish, deep tissue massage, warm mountain rock treatments, high-tech or all-natural facials, and the signature '; Rock Creek Ritual'; are always welcome after a vigorous day outdoors. Hair and nail styling are also available.

Like everything at The Ranch at Rock Creek, the activities program is designed with your individual tastes, preferences, and needs in mind. Everything is included here, and the recreational opportunities are almost limitless. Horseback riding on trails that weave among 6000+ acres, fly fishing stretch of Blue Ribbon Rock Creek, fishing stocked trout ponds, hiking, wildlife watching, mountain biking, sporting clays, archery, and games in The Granite Lodge are all popular pursuits. The Ranch's onsite concierge staff will ensure that you can experience it all, so just let them know your interests and preferences, and they will take care of the rest.

A COMPLETE GUIDE TO HIKING THE BREAKNECK RIDGE HIKE IN NEW YORK'S HUDSON HIGHLANDS:

REACH THE TOP OF PITTSBURGH ON THIS BRILLIANT INNER_CITY HIKE:

______________
If you are travelling and without those things such as cars, finding great adventures and then reaching them can often be tricky, especially if you are staying in a city.

Much like the incredible Hudson Highlands 90 minutes from New York City on the train, Washington D.C. also has great access to brilliant adventures.

Rock Creek Park is no exception. The park is enormous and sits north of the Downtown area of the city. It is infact America's 3rd established National Park back at the end of the 19th Century and now it is a paradise for hikers, cyclists, joggers and picnic lovers!

Please see below to follow how I hiked from top to bottom of Rock Creek Park, a duration on 7 miles but all fairly flat with some undulation along the way.

- Take a bus from Downtown to Silver Spring - it will cost you $2.
- At Silver Spring bus station, change onto the Number 1 bus towards Friendship Heights and get off at Grubb Road. It'll take just a few minutes.
- Stock up on supplies such as water at Rock Creek Shopping Centre and grab breakfast at the iconic Parkway Deli.
- Head south on the road for a few minutes then turn right onto the Boundary Trail.
- You'll soon come to a junction with the Valley Trail. Here you need to turn left.
- When you arrive at the T-Junction, keep to the right and keep Rock Creek on your right hand side.
- Walk underneath the small road bridge, then over a foot bridge.
- You can turn off the main trail to the right to find a nice pebble beach area for a resting stop.
- Carry on south on Valley Trail until you come to Picnic Grove 6. Here there are restrooms, picnic benches and plenty of areas to relax. This is about the half-way mark.
- Track back to where Picnic Grove 6 opens up and step down to where the ld Milk House Ford used to be.
- Here, you can either cross the river along the rocks, or use the bridge close by.
- Head west on the yellow marked trail and follow it around to the left.
- Eventually you will come to the former sight of Fort DeRussy - an old Civil War fort that served to protect the city of Washington.
- Carry on back down the path until you get back to the flowing Rock Creek.
- Cross the bridge back over the water and then turn right to rejoin the Valley Trail.
- Continue south past the likes of Rapids Bridge and Boulder Bridge.
- Boulder Bridge is another nice spot for a rest.
- As you then pass Pulpit Rock, you will turn right onto the Roosevelt Trail which links you to the Western Ridge Trail.
- From here, head south again for a few minutes until you reach Peirce Mill where you can call it a day.

- From Peirce Mill, you can either get a ride sharing lift or walk to nearby Cleveland Park along Tilden Street then south on Connecticut Avenue where you will find shops, restaurants and bars for a well deserved pot hike refreshment.

From Cleveland Park you can also take the bus back to Downtown.

I loved this first adventure in Washington D.C. - a perfect start to exploring the city through sport & adventure. In next week's episode, I'm joining one of America's longest serving soccer supporters groups to showcase exactly how you should attend a DC United game.

Thanks for watching.

The Beautifull Rock Creek Park

Rock Creek Park is a large urban park that bisects the Northwest quadrant of Washington, D.C. The park was created by an Act of Congress in 1890, and today is administered by the National Park Service. In addition to the park proper, the Rock Creek administrative unit of the National Park Service administers various other federally owned properties in the District of Columbia located to the north and west of the National Mall, including Meridian Hill Park on 16th Street, N.W., the Old Stone House in Georgetown, and certain of the Fort Circle Parks, a series of batteries and forts encircling the District of Columbia for its defense during the U.S. Civil War.
Rock Creek Park was established by an act of Congress signed into law by President Benjamin Harrison on September 27, 1890, following active advocacy by Charles C. Glover and other civic leaders and in the wake of the creation of the National Zoo the preceding year.

It was only the third national park established by the U.S., following Yellowstone in 1872 and Mackinac National Park in 1875. Sequoia was created at the same time, and Yosemite shortly thereafter. In 1933, Rock Creek Park became part of the newly formed National Capital Parks unit of the National Park Service.

The Rock Creek Park Act authorized the purchase of no more than 2,000 acres of land, extending north from Klingle Ford Bridge in the District of Columbia (approximately the northern limit of the National Zoo), to be perpetually dedicated and set apart as a public park or pleasure ground for the benefit and enjoyment of the people of the United States.] The Act also called for regulations to provide for the preservation from injury or spoliation of all timber, animals, or curiosities within said park, and their retention in their natural condition, as nearly as possible. Rock Creek Park is the oldest natural urban park in the National Park System.Park construction began in 1897.

In 1913, Congress authorized creation of the Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway and extended the park along a narrow corridor from the zoo to the mouth of Rock Creek at the Potomac River. The parkway is a major traffic thoroughfare, especially along the portion south of the zoo. The park is patrolled by the United States Park Police. The main section of the park comprises 1754 acres (2.74 mi2, 7.10 km2), along the Rock Creek Valley. Including the other green areas the park administers (Glover Archbold Park, Montrose Park, Dumbarton Oaks Park, Meridian Hill Park, Battery Kemble Park, Palisades Park, Whitehaven Park, etc.), it encompasses more than 2000 acres (3 mi2, 8 km2).

The parklands follow the course of Rock Creek across the D.C.-Maryland border to connect with Rock Creek Stream Valley Park and Rock Creek Regional Park in Montgomery County. The Maryland parks are operated by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission.

The Rock Creek Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on October 23, 1991.

Rock Creek Nature Center and Planetarium
Recreation facilities include a golf course; equestrian trails; sport venues, including a tennis stadium which hosts major professional events; a nature center and planetarium; the Carter Barron Amphitheatre, an outdoor concert venue; and picnic and playground facilities. Rock Creek Park also maintains cultural exhibits, including the Peirce Mill. Rock Creek is a popular venue for jogging, cycling, and inline skating, especially on the long, winding Beach Drive, portions of which are closed to vehicles on weekends.

A number of the city's outstanding bridges, such as the Lauzun's Legion, Dumbarton, Taft and the Duke Ellington bridges, span the creek and ravine.

Among the park's few monuments is a pink granite bench on Beach Drive south of the Peirce Mill, dedicated on November 7, 1936 by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in memory of former French ambassador Jean Jules Jusserand. [9] In 2014 it was named best obscure memorial by Washington City Paper.
