RÜDESHEIM Germany and Castles Middle Rhine Valley [Travel Guide]
Welcome to one of Germany’s most unique treasures: The Rhine Gorge (upper middle Rhine valley)! It is a landscape of beautiful villages, vineyards and castles that is considered UNESCO World Heritage! It is a culturally and historically very interesting region to visit in Germany. Well-known is the town of Rüdesheim that is admired for its wines, beautiful houses and famous Drosselgasse. The Drosselgasse is a very picturesque alley that is considered the most popular spot in the town of Rüdesheim. The entire region is famous for its wines: Federweisser, Riesling and Icewine. A must is a visit to the vineyards above Rüdesheim; a great location for going on a hike. Just at the top of the hills is this massive monument called Niederwalddenkmal. It was built after the formation of the German empire. From the Niederwalddenkmal, you may also enjoy a brilliant view over Rüdesheim, the Rine and the surrounding vineyards. It is definitely worth to stay for a few days in this region as there are plenty of castles on the left and righten shore of the river Rhine. There are roughly 30 castles, thus plenty of medieval sites to visit! Worth to see are the castles Burg Sooneck, Rheinstein, Pfalzgrafenstein and Rheinfels. The latter is quite a large castle just at the top of this beautiful village St. Goar. It is perfect to just combine both: first seeing the castle Burg Rheinfels and then roam around the village’s alleys. St. Goar is considered quite less-touristy, but is a beautiful traditional German village. All in all, despite quite historic, this region is not overly touristy, certainly also because there are plenty of castles to visit!

#kleve is a town in the Lower Rhine region of northwestern Germany near the Dutch border and the River Rhine. From the 11th century onwards, Cleves was capital of a county and later a duchy. Today, Cleves is the capital of the district of Cleves in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
The name Kleff probably derives from Middle Dutch clef, clif 'cliff, bluff', referring to the promontory on which the Schwanenburg castle was constructed. Since the city's coat of arms displays three clover leaves (German Klee, Low German Kliev), the city's name is sometimes linked by folk etymology to the clover, but the corresponding Dutch word is klaver.
Kleve was spelled with a C throughout its history until spelling reforms introduced in the 1930s required that the name be spelled with a K. In 2008, the CDU announced its intention to return the name to its original spelling.

Switzerland Rhine Falls is the most powerful waterfall in all of Europe and one of the most popular places to visit in Switzerland. This popular tourist attraction has over one million visitors each year, who all come to see not only the Rhine Falls in Switzerland but the stunning landscape and villages that surround the Rhine River.The Rhine River Falls is found on a stretch of the Rhine River known as the High Rhine. This is where the waters cascade down to a lower level, creating the picturesque Rhine Water Falls. The falls are just a single drop waterfall, however with a width of 150 metres and a height of 23 metres, its size is impressive. Visitors are blown away by the sheer power of the Rhine Falls, particularly during the summer, when the water flows at an impressive rate of 600,000 litres per second. During the winter the falls still flow at a rate of 250,000 litres per second.

1 Day at a ZOO in Germany. Today we taking the whole family and visiting NaturZoo Rheine. A really great day again for all of us. The Rheine Nature Zoo is located in the north of the city of Rheine in the Münsterland. Together with the Gottesgabe saltworks, the Bentlage monastery and the surrounding Bentlager forest, it forms a local recreation area. The zoo has an area of 13 hectares. The zoo currently houses around 1000 animals of a hundred different species. These include various types of monkeys and the native, free-flying white storks, as well as seals and tigers. The pair of tigers caused a sensation in 2003 and 2004 when they fathered three cubs, two of them unplanned.
The Rheine Nature Zoo is known for the monkey forest. 20–30 Barbary macaques live there in a fenced-off oak grove. The visitors go through a lock and can explore the area on a path. The monkeys have the opportunity to get close to the visitors. Zoo keepers give regular tours through the monkey forest and explain how the forest works and how the monkeys are looked after.
The Rheine Nature Zoo is home to the world's largest breeding colony of blood breast baboons. The breeding program (EEP), in which the zoo is playing a leading role, aims to save this endangered species of apes. With around 200 storks, it has the largest stork colony in North Rhine-Westphalia. In addition to these zoo storks, there is roughly the same number of wild storks that spend the winter in the zoo. Other storks are counted during the bird migration.
