The Northern Boundary of Texas?!? | Rawlins Wyoming
Our perpetual road trip across the USA continues! You just never know what you'll find when you travel and explore. We certainly never expected to find a Texas historical marker indicating the northern boundary of the Republic of Texas. But, yes, the northern boundary of Texas during the 1830s was here in Rawlins WY!
This week we take you along as we visit Rawlins, Wyoming. We chose the Rawlins KOA for our 3-night visit to Rawlins WY because of it's proximity to Interstate 80 and the fact that it was easy to get in and out of with our motorhome. And speaking of motorhome life, in this video we'll share some of the beautiful Wyoming scenery through our Class A motorhome's big windshield.
During this stay, and many others this year, we've noticed that a lot of folks who are traveling in their RVs on the interstate only use these small towns for one night stays. But we've found that there is always something interesting and unique to see and do in each town.
Things to do in Rawlins WY: Rawlins, we discovered the old territorial prison turned historic prison museum (the Wyoming Frontier Prison Museum) and the FREE Carbon County Museum. We also had good meals at several of the local Mom/Pop restaurants.
Next time you're traveling across the USA on Interstate 80, don't forget to visit Rawlins as you RV Wyoming!

Enjoy a jam-packed day in one of the national parks or ski at one of the largest resorts in the country. Whatever you choose you won’t be disappointed as each of these towns offers stunning views and one-of-a-kind scenery.
Some of the towns on this list are lesser known and include some hidden gems. As a local, I go off the tourist path to find some unique and scenic towns to visit and with little tourist crowds.
From skiing and snowboarding in the winter to hiking, and camping in the summer, outdoor activities are a way of life in Colorado. The Centennial State is an ideal travel destination and one of the best places to visit for outdoor pursuits in every season.

Top 10 Things To Do In Lander, Wyoming
Lander has been one of our favorite areas to visit in Wyoming. We’ve been four times. First time in Lander, was just an overnighter. We were there in early August for our 2nd trip, and then came back in early September for the third. This year in early September we went back for our fourth visit. At this point, we feel like we have enjoyed the town and most of what it has to offer. It we’ve missed anything that you feel should be on the list, please comment below. We also didn’t cover much of the quaint town of Lander itself. It is a great place to get a meal, a cup of coffee with a tasty pastry or go shopping. We even used the print shop in town as an Amazon Hub and picked up our order for a new camping table, and the Coleman Fold and Go Grill that we show you at the end of the video. Make sure you check out all the great things to do and places to visit.

FREE Things To Do In Cheyenne, Wyoming | History and More!
We had a great day in Cheyenne, Wyoming looking for fun and cheap things to do in town. This video is part of our Cheap Cargo Trailer Travels videos where we look for cheap (prefer free) things to do in towns we visit, so you'll have information before you get to these towns while traveling with your cargo trailer, RV, etc.
Our first stop was to the Wyoming State Museum near downtown Cheyenne. The museum was established in 1895 and collects a wide range of objects, including history, art, anthropology, and natural history. Admission to the museum is FREE. Wyoming State Museum:
Next, we visited the Wyoming State Capitol, just one block away from the State Museum. The capitol is one of 20 state capitols designated as a National Historic Landmark. It is a beautiful building that dates back to 1887 and admission to the capitol is FREE. Wyoming State Capitol:
The Cheyenne Depot Museum is located in the former Union Pacific Depot in downtown Cheyenne. While it is FREE to enter the building and view several areas of the structure, entering the museum will cost you $10. Cheyenne Depot Museum:
Cowgirls of the West Museum and Emporium is an amazing museum with lots of information on legendary women of the west! From Annie Oakley to Mary Carter, Ruth Roach to Dell Burke, you'll find more information on amazing women who helped shape the west and the museum is FREE! Cowgirls of the West Museum:
Messenger's Old West Museum is located in a storage unit business, but don't let the outside fool you - it's an amazing museum with lots of old west memorabilia procured by the Messenger family! Old carriages, antique cars, wagons, blacksmith shop and more are waiting for you! It is FREE to visit the museum (but they do accept donations)! Messenger's Old West Museum:
The Wyoming Governor's Mansion State Historic Site features the former home of Wyoming governor's until 1976 and your visit is FREE. Many of the rooms are decorated to represent how the home would have looked in different times during the 20th century. It is a beautiful building with lots of information on former governors, including Nellie Taylor Ross, the first female governor of Wyoming (and first female governor in the United States)! We stayed about 30 miles west of Cheyenne during our time in the area at Vedauwoo Glen Road Dispersed Camping. Camping here is FREE (there is an area nearby that has a paid area for parking, but we didn't go into the park) and the area is beautiful! Vedauwoo Glen Road Dispersed Camping:

I-80's Famous Highway To Heaven

While driving the Three Sisters in Wyoming, you will encounter the famous Highway to Heaven. Lying about 100 miles east of Salt Lake City, this section of I-80 is famous for its optical illusion of disappearing into the sky or heavens above. Driving eastbound provides the classic Highway to Heaven view, and while driving westbound doesn't quite provide the illusion eastbound does, it still doesn't disapoint. Cheyenne Wyoming | Things To Do and How To Save Money
Hello Wyoming!! Join us this week as we visit Cheyenne, Wyoming! We were surprised by how walkable Downtown Cheyenne is. Each day we visited the city, we parked the truck and walked to museums and restaurants the rest of the day.
During our visit to Cheyenne WY, we RV camped at the Jerre's Haven Campground at Curt Gowdy State Park. You'll find Curt Gowdy State Park half way between Cheyenne and Laramie, Wyoming. We share information about RV camping in Curt Gowdy State Park including if it is big rig friendly and a few important points to know to be prepared for your stay.
We also take you along as we visit several restaurants and museums in Downtown Cheyenne and share how we saved money during our stay. We definitely stayed busy during our time in Cheyenne. We would have loved to stay longer to see more of the museums and take in Cheyenne Frontier Days (we just barely missed it!).
As we mentioned in the video, we thought we had an additional day booked at Curt Gowdy State Park, but we were wrong. Luckily RV Trip Wizard reminded us about our travel plans in time for us to squeeze a few last minute things in! Rawlins KOA Journey in Rawlins Wyoming provides full hookup RV and tent camping sites with KOA level amenities. Convenient to the interstate. With an open setting the RV sites are easy to access for any size RV. As the Journey name suggests the park is intended as a short term/ overnight stop for travelers through the area. Gravel roads and parking pads in the open some of the nicer sites, and the tent sites, have wind shelters to knock down the ever present breeze that defines the high plains of Wyoming. The park is located a short distance from residential communities of Rawlins and a city park just north on Washington St.
For drivers an important note: If you approach the park from the north (coming from downtown Rawlins) DO NOT take Colorado/ Washington St under the train tracks. This is a low clearance bridge. Instead use the Interstate go around) or use 6th St which is an overpass.
