Joychandi Pahar (Bengali: জয়্চণ্ডী পাহাড়) is a hill which is a popular tourist attraction in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is three kilometres from the subdivisional town of Raghunathpur, Purulia district. It is on the Purulia – Barakar road, is a popular tourist centre and major attraction for rock climbing.Joychandi Pahar railway station is on the Asansol – Adra section of South Eastern Railway, in the state capital of Kolkata. The other rock climbing centre nearby is at Susunia Pahar.
It has an average elevation of 155 m (509 ft). The area forms the lowest step of the Chota Nagpur Plateau. The general scenario is undulating land with scattered hills.
Joychandi Pahar is a hill which is a popular tourist attraction in the Indian state of West Bengal in Purulia district. It is two kilometres from the subdivisional town of Raghunathpur and four kilometres from Adra town. The hill is situated 2 kilometers south from Purulia – Barakar road via Nanduara village and 1 kilometer west from Raghunathpur-Adra Road via a growing township known as Annapurna pally. It is also just four kilometres away from Adra Junction railway station and 1.5 kilometres from Joychandipahar railway station, which is situated on Adra-Asansol section. Joychandi hill is a popular tourist centre and major attraction for rock climbing.[1] Joychandi Pahar railway station is on the Asansol – Adra section of South Eastern Railway, in the state capital of Kolkata. The other rock climbing centre nearby is at Susunia Pahar.Purulia district forms the lowest step of the Chota Nagpur Plateau. The general scenario is undulating land with scattered hills.[3]Raghunathpur subdivision occupies the north-western part of the district. 83.80% of the population of the subdivision lives in rural areas. However, there are pockets of urbanization and 16.20% of the population lives in urban areas. There are 14 census towns in the subdivision.[4] It is presented in the map given alongside. There is a coal mining area around Parbelia[5] and two thermal power plants are there – the 500 MW Santaldih Thermal Power Station[6] and the 1200 MW Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station. The subdivision has a rich heritage of old temples, some of them belonging to the 11th century or earlier. The Banda Deul is a monument of national importance.[7][8] The comparatively more recent in historical terms, Panchkot Raj has interesting and intriguing remains in the area.

Brief Description of Purulia Ajodhya Pahar Tour:
First we took a train from Howrah to Purulia station and from there we took an e-rickshaw to Purulia bus stand. Then we took a bus from Purulia bus stand to Ayodhya Hills. On reaching Ayodhya hills we hired a taxi for the whole day. Then we went to Ayodhya Pahar Youth Hostel by taxi. After reaching there we took some rest and left for Purulia sightseeing. We had lunch at a restaurant in the middle of the tour. Then throughout the day we visited various places in Purulia like Marble Lake, Bamni Falls, Upper Dam, Lower Dam, Thurga Dam, Thurga Falls, Charida Village, Lahoria Dam, Murguma Dam etc. We returned to the hotel by evening. After that we had dinner from the youth hostel canteen and went to sleep.
The next morning we got up and checked out the hotel and reached the Ayodhya Pahar Hill Top bus stand. We had breakfast from a shop there and got on the bus going to Purulia. After reaching Purulia, we had lunch at a restaurant and proceeded towards Purulia Railway Station. Then we took a train from Purulia to Kolkata.

Baranti is a developing tourist center located in the lap of Gorongi Hill. This village is surrounded by the Panchkot Hill at one side and the Biharinath Hill on the other, with a water reservoir under Ramchandrapur Medium Irrigation Project. This area is popular for hill and jungle trekking due to its natural environment.[13] Garh Panchkot is only 12 km away, and Joychandi Pahar just 21 km away from Baranti.[14] Biharinath, the Araku Valley of Bengal is just 18 km from Baranti.
The place has been aptly described in The Telegraph, right in the lap of a hilly range with a huge water reservoir...Sunset is particularly special in Baranti. The lake keeps changing colour from time to time. It’s a real treat for the eyes to sit and watch the various shades of yellow and red reflected on the water and quietly spreading out on to the paddy fields... The huge water body around the dam attracts a lot of migratory birds every winter.

Jaichandi Pahar is a famous tourist spot located five km from Adra railway station in Purulia district and 2.7 km from Jaichandi Pahar railway station. Chandi Mata Temple is located at the top of this hill. About 500 steps have to be climbed to climb the mountain. Rupsi Bangla Express is the best train for a day trip to Jaychandi Hills and back. Those coming here from Howrah Kolkata or Kharagpur direction should take Rupsi Bangla Express from Santragachi station or Kharagpur station. The train leaves Santragachi at 6:28 am and arrives at Adra station at 10:50 am. Again in the afternoon this train leaves Adra at 4:25 PM and reaches Santragachi at 8:31 PM. One can also come here from Asansol direction. A MEMU special train departs from Asansol at 4:40 AM. The train reaches Jaichandi Pahar Junction near Adra at 5:40 am. There are still a few trains. One can reach here by Toto from Adra Station or Jaychandi Pahar Station. You can also come here by private car. It has wide fields at the foot of the hill. Car parking is available there. And there are some small food shops, tea shops in that place. You can also have tiffin there in the morning. And on the left side of that courtyard is the bathroom and toilet. However, winters are quite crowded with tourists. 20 km from here are the ruins of the royal palace of the Panchkot kings, Garh Panchkot hill and the abandoned ancient Jeeran temple on the hill. You can visit that too. For that you have to book auto. From Adra Railway Station or from Jaychandi Pahar Station. Auto booking charges around 800 to 1000 taka. There are many good hotels lodges or resorts to stay near Jaichandi Pahar railway station or within one kilometer from the railway station. But they are a bit difficult.
