Kumarakom is a village on Vembanad Lake in the backwaters of Kerala, southern India. It’s laced with canals, where houseboats ply the waters. Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is home to many species including cuckoos and Siberian storks. Nearby, the Bay Island Driftwood Museum displays wooden sculptures. In the lake, Pathiramanal Island is a haven for rare migratory birds. Ancient Thazhathangady Mosque is east of Kumarakom.

Tourism in Kumarakom largely revolves -around the backwaters of the Vembanad Lake. Several luxury and budget resorts lined up on the shores of the lake provide tourists with facilities for boating, yachting and fishing, with panoramic views of the lake. The other major attraction is the Bird Sanctuary, which is open from 6 am to 6 pm and can be visited by canoes arranged by local fishermen at the entrance to the sanctuary. A two-hour rowing canoe trip is quite cheap, and is best undertaken in the evening or early morning to avoid the afternoon sun.
Furthermore, the Aruvikkuzhi Waterfall and its surrounding rubber plantation are a photographer's delight. There is also the Bay Island Drift Museum near the Kumarakom beach for history lovers, open from 10 am – 5 pm on Tuesdays – Saturdays and from 11.30 am – 5 pm on Sundays.

India's Most Luxurious Resorts E04 - Kumarakom Lake Resort | Kerala
In April 2019, I had the chance to visit one of India's most luxurious resorts - Kumarakom Lake Resort.
In this video I am going to be sharing my experiences and impressions of staying at this five star luxury hotel in Kerala
We stayed for 2 days here and loved every minute of it. The resort is located very close to Kochi and the airport. We stayed at the meandering pool villa, where you can just walk into the pool directly from your room.
The resort sits facing west on the vembanad lake and it is the perfect place to enjoy sunsets.
We got some amazing drone views and videos of Kerala and kumarakom.
It is one of the best five star hotels in Kerala and is definitely up there as on of India's most luxurious resorts. If you want a luxury Kerala trip, then this is the place. And I also think that it is the best honeymoon resort in Kerala.

Kumarakom is a popular tourism destination located near the city of Kottayam (10 kilometres (6 mi)), in Kerala, India, famous for its backwater tourism. It is set in the backdrop of the Vembanad Lake, the largest lake in the state of Kerala. The vast array of rivers and canals that Kottayam is blessed with, empty themselves into the picturesque Vembanad Lake. It is a lovely place to go for a picnic and has also turned into a prominent backwater destination. Alleppey the land of back waters provides you a unique experience to rejuvenate and spend time with your friends and family. Had a wonderful time cruising the backwaters of Kerala with Evergreen Tours which was booked to provide this part of our tour by the tour agent.
As you go down the numerous water channels, you are amazed by the tranquility, the colour and the scenic beauty around you.
We had taken 3 hours rides and reached Kumarakom in the evening. We started around 2pm. Watched a wonderful sunset and cool breeze. One can easily imagine one is in Venice!!

यह क्षेत्र अपने खजूर और नारियल के पेड़ों तथा धान के खेतों के मनोहारी दृश्यों के लिए जाना जाता है। जलभराव क्षेत्र की निकटता इस जगह को स्वास्थ्यप्रद और हरे-भरे पेड़ों युक्त बनाती है। जब एक हार बारिश शुरू हो जाती है तो पूरा क्षेत्र हरियाली से भर जाता है। कुमारकोम में केरल के सबसे प्रसिद्ध पक्षी अभ्यारण्य होने के कारण यह पक्षियों के प्रति लगाव रखने वालों के लिये एक आदर्श स्थान है। यह अभयारण्य प्रवासी पक्षियों की विविधता का घर है और साइबेरियाई क्रेन को यहां अक्सर देखा जा सकता है। इसके अलावा, यह क्षेत्र समुद्री मछली की प्रजातियों के लिये भी जाना जाता है। इनमें से सबसे प्रमुख पर्ल स्पॉट है जिसे लोकप्रिय रूप में करीमीन के नाम से जाना जाता है।
कुमारकोम के हाउसबोट इसे अन्य पर्यटक स्थलों से अलग करते हैं। लाखों पर्यटक हाउसबोट का आनंद लेने तथा अपना समय बिताने और जलभराव की शांति और सौंदर्य का आनंद लेने के लिए इस जगह पर आते हैं। दिन भर हाउसबोट पर घूमने या रात भर घूमने की सुविधायें भी उपलब्ध हैं जिनका चयन यात्री अपने बजट के अनुसार कर सकते हैं।

Vazhakulam & Kumbalangi - India's 1st Eco-Tourism Village | Kerala Ep 3 | Tried 'TODDY' & Local Food
On the 4th day of my road trip across Kerala, I visited a town called 'Vazhakulam' which falls in the Ernakulam district of Kerala. This town is known as the 'Pineapple City of India' due to its large-scale pineapple farms. Vazhakulam also has the largest market for pineapple in Asia. The pineapples from Vazhakulam have also got a geographic indication.
Toddy & Local Food - After visiting the famous pineapple market and centre, I also went to try the famous local drink of Kerala called Toddy. Toddy is a famous alcoholic beverage in Kerala which is prepared directly from palm trees in the area by Toddy tapping! It’s completely organic and it can get intoxicating only when you have it in excessive quantity - well! at least that's what I have been told :). I went to a shop to have Toddy, which is quite a famous one near cochin. I also tried the seafood there. Loved the fish cooked in banana leaves and also the prawns.
Kumbalangi - After trying Toddy and having loads of seafood, I went to a village called Kumbalangi which is the first eco-tourism village in India. The main occupation of the people of Kumbalangi is fishing. You will find hundreds of Chinese fishing nets sites in the backwaters of Kerala in this village. This village is well-connected by road to Kochi and you can either take a bus or cab to reach here. I would say you must visit Kumbalangi whenever you visit Kerala :)
