Rajkot is a industrial town of Gujarat plus foodie's destination. Following are the activities we did in Rajkot in a day.
Many people enquire about the gadgets we use, you can check that out here:
1. Introduction at Kotecha chowk., i stayed at KK hotel near Kotecha chowk only, after 20% discount i paid rs 2240 as room tariff which included breakfast.
2. Joker Gathiya - We enjoyed Gathiya and jalebi in breakfast
3. Tea shop - This shop is opp. Swami Narayan temple, we enjoyed tea at this shop.
4. Alfred High school - we went to this place, now converted into museum but since it was monday, so we could not visit it from inside.
5. Kaba Gandhi no Delo - This is ancestral house of Mahatma Gandhi ji, now converted into museum.
6. Lunch at TGT - The Grand Thakkar is a famous restaurant, they are famous for their kathiyawadi thali, which has 2 punjabi dishes as well.Price of the Thali at this shop is Rs 250 per person.
7.Market visit: We visited two market posts lunch - Gundawadi market and another market which was 2 km from here.
8. Ishwar Ghugra - This is a famous shop for evening snacks.
9. Rasikbhai Chevadawala - This shop is famous for its farsan and chutney
10. Amra - i went there to buy a shirt for myself, i could not find half sleeve shirt there, so ended up buying saree for wife for rs 2500, this store is opp. Race course in Rajkot.
12. Ravi chapdi - This is a cart that sells chapdi post 7 pm, price is rs 100 for unlimited chapdi and undhiyu. I learnt that people prefer to eat this in dinner time.
13. Outro at KK hotel - We did night stay at KK hotel , Kotecha chowk, they charged us Rs 2200 room tariff which is after discount of 20 percent.

EP 2 Rajkot to Junagadh| Kathiyawadi food at Gondal, caves, Khodal Dham, Virpur
This is the 2nd episode of our Saurashtra - Gujarat tour, just in case if you have missed the first one you can check that out below:
This episode was shot on 23rd Feb, we started from Rajkot and proceeded towards Junagadh
I mentioned in the video that I had prepared Indori Poha at home, following the authentic recipe of Poha of Indore, link of video is given below:
Above video has two parts - top breakfast of the country and recipe of Indori Poha.
Breakfast at Shree Hari namkeen Kotecha chowk - they serve tasty poha.
Gondal - Swami Naryan temple
Navlakha palace - This is at distance of 1-2 km from Swami Narayan temple
Palace Orchard - This place is famous for vintage car collection - 9 to 12 noon 3 pm to 6 pm are visit timings
Suresh Parotta houe - This is a neat place to have lunch in Gondal.
kalyani collection at Jetpur - This is a shop we visited at Jetpur to see Bandhani saree and we also visited their saree screen printing unit
Khambalida caves - These are old caves
Khodal Dham - This is a new Dham that was built in 2017, distance from caves - 4 km
Virpur - This place is famous for Jalaram Bapu ahram, ideally we should have first gone to Virpur then we shoud have gone to Jetpur but we were getting late, we went to Jetpur then came back in reverse direction to Virpur.
We reached Junagadh little late and stayed there at Byke suraj hotel there, we were charged Rs 2000 per day room tariff, over all decent hotel at this tariff.

Today's episode brings you an immersive day food tour in Rajkot which is another food haven in Gujarat. Let's take you through the places that we had explored with our hosts Anand and Chintan on the last day of our stay in the city.
The first stop was Shri Ganesh Namkeen. This small street side stall with an attractive banner is known for its Indori poha and kachori, which are two inexpensive breakfast options for workers and office goers in this neighbourhood. We opted for the Indori poha as we wanted to start the tour on a lighter note. What makes it different from the usual poha is the presence of fennel and crisp namkeen. Overall it was sweet and spicy.
The second stop was Shiv Shakti tea stall where the genial owner was preparing a huge batch of creamy and strong Rajkot style tea over charcoal fire. This tea was much needed to prepare us for the immersive tour ahead.
The third stop that Anand took us to was Shivam South Indian stall which is run by a family who are originally from Tamil Nadu. We were happy to find a mixed crowd thronging this busy breakfast and brunch point, most of whom were youth. Here we tried their unique dosa fry which is inspired from Tamil Nadu's famous Kothu roti. It's basically a masala dosa that has been chopped up into tiny bits similar to that of a scrambled egg. This buttery and flavourful dish was accompanied by sambar and chutney. We quite liked the unique taste.
The fourth stop was Sadguru Khaman House that is renowned for their classic Gujarati snacks like khaman, spicy khaman, patra, sev khamni, ras patra etc. Our picks were the ras patra and dahi khaman. The former one was fried patra dunked in a tangy and sweet tamarind-jaggery sauce while the later one was bite size khaman dunked in creamy and sweet yogurt. Both the dishes were utterly lip smacking.
The fifth stop was KK Beacon Hotel where we tried their much appreciated Gujarati thali. With nearly 30 different items, mostly Gujarati ones, this thali looked really tempting. Both taste and quantity wise it was phenomenal. Our favourite was the luscious puran puri, matar paneer, ringan dungri sabzi and shrikhand.
To digest all the surfeit meal that we had till now, Anand next took us to Modern Paan and Cold Drinks shop for Limbu Sharbat and Chaas soda. Both of these are considered to be digestive drinks. The first one was prepared with lemon wedges and some spices while the second one with curd and soda.
After this refreshing drinks break, we headed to Rajesh chikki, a popular name in the sweet and dessert space in the city. As the name suggests they specializes in chikki which is a brittle made with different nuts, seeds and jaggery or sugar. The young owner presented us nearly 10 varieties of chikki to taste among which four of them were sweet bites. All of them were so amazing that it was hard to pick a favourite.
Next we went to Riddhi Siddhi Farm for their extremely popular sweet corn soup. This place is all about healthy soup, juices nad condiments that are made with organically grown ingredients. The sweet corn soup had both the kernels and its paste. There were no artificial flavourings. The seet corn used in this comes from the family farm itself.
The last stop of this tour was Shiv Shakti Dairy which we went to visit along with our host Chintan. Here we got the opportunity to visit their huge mechanised workshop which was fully busy

રામવન | Ramvan | Best Places to visit in Rajkot | #rajkot | અયોધ્યા | MusafaRi | Riddhi Parsana
આજના યુગમાં વધતા જતા સિમેન્ટ કોન્ક્રીટનાજંગલોવચ્ચે કુદરતે રચેલા જંગલોનોસોથ વળી રહ્યો છે. ત્યારે પ્રકૃતિને સમતોલ બનાવવા રાજકોટ શહેરના આજી ડેમ (Aaji Dam)નજીક કિશાન ગૌશાળા સામે 47 એકરનીવિશાળ જગ્યામાં અર્બન ફોરેસ્ટમાં(Urban Forest) રામવન(Ramvan in Rajkot) બનાવવાનું કામ રાજકોટ RMC દ્વારા કરવામાં આવ્યું છે. વર્ષ 2019માં શરૂ કરવામાં આવેલું કામ 2022 સુધીમાં પૂર્ણ કરવા નક્કી કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું. આજે રામવનનું 2 ટકા કામ જ બાકી રહ્યું છે.એ પણ નાનું મોટું ફિનિશિંગ કામ. RMC દ્વારા 14 કરોડનાખર્ચે આ રામવન તૈયાર કરવામાં આવ્યું છે.
રામવનમાં કુલ 25 ભાગ દર્શાવવામાં આવ્યાછે.જેમાં અલગ અલગ 60 પ્રજાતિના 60 હજારથી વધુ વૃક્ષો(Sixty thousand trees)નું વાવેતર કરવામાં આવ્યું છે. ભગવાન રામના જીવન આધારિત પ્રસંગોનીઝાંખી કરાવતા અલગ અલગ 22 જેટલા સ્કલ્પ્ચરમુકવામાં આવ્યા છે. જેની સાથે લોકો સેલ્ફીપણ લઇ શકે તે મુજબ સેલ્ફી પોઇન્ટ (Selfie point in Rajkot)પણ મુકવામાં આવ્યા છે.
રામવનની વિશેષતા એ છે કે, ભગવાન રામે કરેલા 14 વર્ષના વનવાસના પ્રસંગો આબેહૂબ કંડારવામાં આવ્યા છે. આ ઉપરાંત ભગવાન રામના જીવન ચરિત્ર સાથે સંકળાયેલા અલગ અલગ પ્રસંગોની ઝાંખીના દર્શન પણ થશે. ભગવાન રામના જીવન આધારિત પ્રસંગોના અહીં અલગ અલગ 22 જેટલા સ્કલ્પ્ચર પણ મૂકવામાં આવ્યા છે.
જેમાં સૌથી વધારે ભગવાન રામની વિશાળ મૂર્તિ, જટાયુ દ્વાર, ભગવાન રામના ધનુષ આકારનો મુખ્ય પ્રવેશ દ્વાર, સંજીવની બૂટી સાથે પર્વત લઇ આવતા હનુમાનજી મહારાજના સ્કલ્પ્ચર આકર્ષણનું કેન્દ્ર બની રહેશે. હાલ આ રામવનનું 98% કામ પૂર્ણ થઇ જતા આગામી સાતમ-આઠમના તહેવાર સુધીમાં રામવન લોકો માટે ખુલ્લું મુકવામાં આવે તેવી શક્યતા સેવાઇ રહી છે.
રામવનમાં વિવિધ પ્રસંગોની પ્રતિકૃતિ રામાયણના જીવંત દર્શન કરાવશે. એક ઓફિસ અને મિટિંગ હોલ પણ બનાવવામાં આવ્યો છે. ભવિષ્યમાં રાજકોટ મનપા (Rajkot Municipal Corporation) દ્વારા કોઇ મિટિંગ કે પ્રેસ કોન્ફરન્સ કરવાની થાય તો તે પણ રામવનમાં થઇ શકશે. બાળકો માટે ક્રિડાંગણ, રમત-ગમતના સાધનો, વડીલો માટે ખૂબ સારી બેસવાની વ્યવસ્થા કરવામાં આવી છે. સૌરાષ્ટ્રમાં એક પ્રકારે શોભે એ રીતે રામવન રાજકોટનું આભૂષણ બનશે.
પ્રભુ શ્રીરામે 14 વર્ષ વનમાં રહી વનવાસ વેઠ્યો હતો. ત્યારે રાજકોટ ખાતે નિર્માણ થઇ રહેલા રામવનમાં ભગવાને જંગલમાં વિતાવેલાં 14 વર્ષ સહિત તેમના જીવન સાથે જોડાયેલા પ્રસંગોને રામવનમાં જીવંત કરવા માટેનું આયોજન પણ રાજકોટ મહાનગરપાલિકા દ્વારા કરવામાં આવ્યું છે. રાજકોટ મનપા દ્વારા અલગ અલગ 22 સ્કલ્પ્ચર ઊભાં કરવા માટે લગભગ 1.50 કરોડથી વધુનો ખર્ચ કરવામાં આવ્યો છે. રામવનના પ્રવેશ દ્વારથી શરૂ કરી અંત સુધી તમામ જગ્યા પર કઇકને કઇક અલગ અલગ સ્કલ્પ્ચર આકર્ષણનું કેન્દ્ર બની રહેતું જોવા મળી રહ્યું છે.
