Rajshahi
Rajshahi is a metropolitan city and a major urban, commercial and educational centre of Bangladesh.
It is also the administrative seat of the eponymous division and district. Located on the north bank of the Padma River, near the Bangladesh-India border, the city has a population of over 763,580 residents.
The town is surrounded by the satellite towns of Nowhata and Katakhali, which together build an urban agglomeration of about 1 million population. Modern Rajshahi lies in the ancient region of Pundravardhana.
The foundation of the city dates to 1634, according to epigraphic records at the mausoleum of Sufi saint Shah Makhdum. The area hosted a Dutch settlement in the 18th century.
The Rajshahi municipality was constituted during the British Raj in 1876. It was a divisional capital of the Bengal Presidency.
Rajshahi is a significant administrative, educational, cultural, and business centre in Bangladesh. It is a historic center of silk production. Varendra Research Museum, the oldest of its kind in Bangladesh, is located in the city. The city is home to many renowned educational institutions of Bangladesh. The head office of Rajshahi Agricultural Development Bank and Barind Multipurpose Development Authority is situated in the city. The Shah Makhdum Airport serves Rajshahi. According to The Guardian it is the cleanest city in Bangladesh.

Rajshahi district was a part of the Pundra region of ancient Bengal ruled by the Pundra Kingdom. The capital of Prince Vijaya, the king who led military operations in Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia was located 14 kilometres (9 mi) to the west of Rajshahi town. In medieval times, the region came to be known as Rampur Boalia. The origin of the present name of Rajshahi is debated among scholars. Most say that it takes its name from Hindu Kings and zamindars (or Rajas) as Raj and the persianised Shahi; both of which mean royal or kingdom.[7] The administrative district was established in 1772 and the municipal corporation in 1876. It stands next to Chauchala Chhota Govinda Mandirand faces east. Architecturally it is exceptional for Bangladesh, the only other of known existence of this type being Rajaram Mandir in Faridpur District. It was built by the Rajas of Puthia.

Puthia town where the temple is located is accessible by road, 32 km away from Rajshahi town which is also a railhead. Rajshahi is located on the Dhaka Rajashahi Highway.
♦Features:-
The temple is located facing the Char Ani Rajbari on the west bank of the Shyamsagar lake. The prominent feature is a triple archway in the centre, with an open platform. The temple consists of three chambers, dochala in the center and attached two chauchala in its north and south side, hence its is also called tri-mandir (three temples); dochala, meaning two roofs, and char-chala (four roofs) or chau-chala are either square or rectangular in shape with roof in the form of a hut with four sloping parts. It has a highly adorned eastern facade with terracotta plaques and some of them are stated to be in dilapidated condition.

পাঁচআনি জমিদারবাড়ীর মহারানী হেমন্তকুমারী দেবীর বাসভবনটিই পুঠিয়া রাজবাড়ী নামে পরিচিত।
বাংলাদেশের রাজশাহী জেলা সদর হতে ৩২ কিঃমিঃ উত্তর-পূর্বে রাজশাহী-নাটোর মহাসড়কের কাছে পুঠিয়া রাজবাড়ী অবস্থিত।
পুঠিয়া রাজবংশ মুঘল সম্রাট আকবর এর সময় (১৫৫৬-১৬০৫) প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়। পীতম্বর মুঘল সম্রাট আকবর এর সুবেদার মানসিংহের কাছ থেকে এ জমিদারি লাভ করেন। পীতম্বর নিঃসন্তান অবস্থায় মৃত্যুবরণ করলে তার ভাই নীলাম্বর জমিদারী লাভ করেন। নীলাম্বর --মোগল সম্রাট জাহাঙ্গীরের কাছ থেকে ‘রাজা’ উপাধি লাভ করলে রাজবাড়িটি পুঠিয়া রাজবাড়িরূপে পরিচিতি লাভ করে।
এখানকার পুরাকীর্তির মধ্যে আছে পাঁচআনি তথা পুঠিয়া রাজবাড়ী, চারআনি রাজবাড়ী,গোবিন্দ মন্দির, ছোট আহ্নিক মন্দির, ছোট শিব মন্দির, দোল মন্দির, বড় শিব মন্দির, জগন্নাথ বা রথ মন্দির, রানি পুকুর, বড় আহ্নিক মন্দির, ছোট গোবিন্দ মন্দির, গোপাল মন্দির ও হাওয়া খানা।

The residence of Maharani Hemantakumari Devi of Panchani Zamindarbari is known as Puthia Rajbari.
Puthia Rajbari is located 32 km northeast of the Rajshahi district headquarters of Bangladesh near the Rajshahi-Natore highway.
The Puthia dynasty was established during the reign of Mughal Emperor Akbar (1556-1705). Pitambar inherited the zamindari from Mansingh, the subedar of Mughal emperor Akbar. When Pitambar died childless, his brother Nilambar got zamindari. Nilambar - When the Mughal emperor Jahangir received the title of 'King', the palace became known as Puthia Rajbari.
Antiquities include Panchani i.e. Puthia Rajbari, Charani Rajbari, Govinda Mandir, Chhota Ahnik Mandir, Chhota Shiva Mandir, Dol Mandir, Bara Shiva Mandir, Jagannath or Rath Mandir, Rani Pukur, Bara Ahnik Mandir, Chhota Govinda Mandir, Gopal Mandir and Hawa.

Initially, Puthia was a village of Laskarpur Pargana, named after Laskar Khan Nilamber, the brother of the first Zamindar of Puthia, who was the first to receive the title of Raja from Jahangir (1605-1627AD). A partition of the estate took place in 1744 and the zamindari was divided among 4 co shares among whom the panch ani (five annas) and char ani (four annas) co-shares become famous in conducting jamindary.

সপ্তদশ শতকে মোগল আমলে তৎকালীন বাংলার বিভিন্ন রাজ্যের মধ্যে পুঠিয়া জমিদারি ছিল প্রাচীনতম। কথিত যে জনৈক নীলাম্বর মোগল সম্রাট জাহাঙ্গীরের (১৬০৫—২৭ খ্রি.) কাছ থেকে ‘রাজা’ উপাধি লাভ করার পর সেটি পুঠিয়া রাজবাড়ীরূপে পরিচিতি লাভ করে। ১৭৪৪ সালে জমিদারি ভাগ হয়। সেই ভাগাভাগিতে জমিদারের বড় ছেলে পান সম্পত্তির সাড়ে পাঁচ আনা এবং অন্য তিন ছেলে পান সাড়ে তিন আনা।
১৯৫০ সাল পর্যন্ত জমিদারি প্রথা ছিল। প্রথা বিলুপ্ত হলে পুঠিয়া রাজবাড়ীর জমিদারিও বিলুপ্ত হয়। কিন্তু জমিদারি বিলুপ্ত হলেও সে আমলে নির্মিত তাঁদের প্রাসাদ, মন্দির ও অন্যান্য স্থাপনা ঠিকই এখনো টিকে রয়েছে। অপরূপ এ প্রাসাদটি ১৮৯৫ সালে মহারানী হেমন্ত কুমারী দেবী তাঁর শাশুড়ি মহারানী শরৎ সুন্দরী দেবীর সম্মানে নির্মাণ করান।

পুঠিয়া রাজবাড়ীর আশে পাশে ছয়টি রাজদিঘী আছে। প্রত্যেকটা দিঘীর আয়তন ছয় একর করে। মন্দিরও আছে ছয়টি। সবচেয়ে বড় শিব মন্দির। এ ছাড়া আছে রাধাগোবিন্দ মন্দির, গোপাল মন্দির, গোবিন্দ মন্দির, দোলমঞ্চ ইত্যাদি। প্রতিটি মন্দিরের দেয়ালেই অপূর্ব সব পোড়ামাটির ফলকের কারুকাজ। জোড়বাংলা মন্দির, বাংলো মন্দির, পঞ্চরত্ন অর্থাৎ চূড়াবিশিষ্ট মন্দির অর্থাৎ বাংলার বিভিন্ন গড়নরীতির মন্দিরগুলোর প্রতিটিই আকর্ষণীয়। এ ছাড়া রানির স্নানের ঘাট, অন্দর মহল মিলিয়ে বিশাল রাজবাড়ী প্রাঙ্গণ।

রাজশাহী শহর থেকে ৩০ কিমি উত্তর-পূর্বে বাঘা-পুঠিয়া জেলা সড়কের পাশে পুঠিয়া রাজবাড়ীর অবস্থান। পুঠিয়া বাস স্ট্যান্ডে নেমে ১ কিলোমিটার দক্ষিণে, পায়ে হেঁটে গেলে ১০-১২ মিনিটে পৌঁছে যাওয়া যায় পুঠিয়া রাজবাড়ী। পুঠিয়া বাজারের দক্ষিণ পাশে রাজবাড়িটির অবস্থান।
????পুঠিয়া রাজবাড়ীর কয়েকটি কক্ষ জাদুঘর হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হচ্ছে। জাদুঘরের ওপরের তলার তিন নম্বর গ্যালারিতে তিনটি সিন্দুক রাখা আছে। আর নিচ তলায় চার নম্বর গ্যালারিতে দুটি আলমারি, চেয়ার-টেবিলসহ অন্যান্য আসবাব রাখা আছে।

রাজশাহী-নাটোর মহাসড়কের পুঠিয়া বাসস্ট্যান্ড থেকে এক কিলোমিটার দক্ষিণে রিক্সাযোগে মাত্র পাঁচ মিনিটের পথ, রাজশাহী শহর থেকে সড়ক পথে দূরত্ব ৩৪ কিলোমিটার এবং নাটোর থেকে ১৮ কিলোমিটার। নিজস্ব গাড়িতে জায়গাটিতে ভ্রমণে গেলে রাজশাহী শহরের প্রায় ত্রিশ কিলোমিটার আগে পড়বে জায়গাটি। এ ছাড়া রাজশাহীগামী যেকোনো বাসে গিয়েও পুঠিয়া নামা যায়। রাজশাহী থেকে লোকাল বাসে পুঠিয়া আসতে সময় লাগে প্রায় পৌনে এক ঘণ্টা। রাজশাহী কেন্দ্রীয় বাস টার্মিনাল থেকে নাটোরগামী বাসে চড়ে পুঠিয়া নামা যায়।

Puthiya Rajbari | The Historical Place Of Rajshahi in Bangladesh
Puthia Rajbari is a palace in Puthia Upazila, in Bangladesh, built in 1895, for Rani Hemanta Kumari, it is an example of Indo-Saracenic Revival architecture. The palace is sited on the Rajshahi Nator highway 30 km from the east of the town and one km south from Rajshahi Nator highway. It is currently used by Lashkarpur Degree College but is in a poor state of repair.Initially, Puthia was a village of Laskarpur Pargana, named after Laskar Khan. Nilamber, the brother of the first Zamindar of Puthia, who was the first to receive the title of Raja from Jahangir (1605-1627AD). A partition of the estate took place in 1744 and the zamindari was divided among 4 co shares among whom the panch ani (five annas) and char ani (four annas) co-shares become famous in conducting jamindary.
পুঠিয়া রাজবাড়ী বা পাঁচআনি জমিদারবাড়ী হচ্ছে মহারানী হেমন্তকুমারী দেবীর বাসভবন। বাংলার প্রত্নতাত্ত্বিক ঐতিহ্যের মধ্যে রাজশাহীর পুঠিয়া রাজবাড়ী অন্যতম।[১] ১৮৯৫ সালে মহারানী হেমন্তকুমারী দেবী আকর্ষনীয় ইন্দো ইউরোপীয় স্থাপত্যরীতিতে আয়তাকার দ্বিতল বর্তমান রাজবাড়ীটি নির্মাণ করেন।সপ্তদশ শতকে মোগল আমলে তৎকালীন বাংলার বিভিন্ন রাজ্যের মধ্যে পুঠিয়া জমিদারি ছিল প্রাচীনতম। কথিত যে জনৈক নীলাম্বর মোগল সম্রাট জাহাঙ্গীরের (১৬০৫—২৭ খ্রি.) কাছ থেকে ‘রাজা’ উপাধি লাভ করার পর সেটি পুঠিয়া রাজবাড়ীরূপে পরিচিতি লাভ করে। ১৭৪৪ সালে জমিদারি ভাগ হয়। সেই ভাগাভাগিতে জমিদারের বড় ছেলে পান সম্পত্তির সাড়ে পাঁচ আনা এবং অন্য তিন ছেলে পান সাড়ে তিন আনা।[১] ১৯৫০[তথ্যসূত্র প্রয়োজন] সাল পর্যন্ত জমিদারি প্রথা ছিল। প্রথা বিলুপ্ত হলে পুঠিয়া রাজবাড়ীর জমিদারিও বিলুপ্ত হয়। কিন্তু জমিদারি বিলুপ্ত হলেও সে আমলে নির্মিত তাঁদের প্রাসাদ, মন্দির ও অন্যান্য স্থাপনা ঠিকই এখনো টিকে রয়েছে। অপরূপ এ প্রাসাদটি ১৮৯৫ সালে মহারানী হেমন্ত কুমারী দেবী তাঁর শাশুড়ি মহারানী শরৎ সুন্দরী দেবীর সম্মানে নির্মাণ করান।
