Harry Potter London Magic Walking Tour and Film Locations

Harry Potter London Magic Walking Tour and Film Locations
London's favourite guide takes you to all the main Harry Potter film locations in London on this magical walking tour.
Joolz Guides retraces the steps of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley as he visits the ministry of magic, the leaky cauldron, diagon alley and more on this tour of the London film locations!

Did you know that they actually used three different locations in London for The Leaky Cauldron. One is in Borough Market in The Prisoner of Azkaban, one is in Charing Cross Road and the first one used in The Philosophers Stone (The Sorcerors Stone) is in Leadenhall Market.

The divination stairway where Hermione wknocks the crystal ball down is in St Paul's Cathedral and we also go past the Millenium Bridge which the death eaters destroyed in Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince. From London Bridge you get a good view of the route that HArry , Hermione and Ron Weasley took as they fly towards Grimauld Place on their brook sticks.

Joolz apparates to Piccadilly Circus just like in the Deathly Hallows and also nearly goes under a bus! We also visit the location where they filmed Platform 9 and 3 quarters which is in Kings Cross Station which is conveniently near the Harry Potter shop where you can buy school uniforms of Gryffindor or Slitherin and the other houses before you head off on a magical walking tour with Joolz towards Diagon Alley and the ministry of magic in Whitehall.

12 Best Small Towns to Live in Britain

What are the best towns to live in Britain? You do not have to live in big cities to enjoy your life in the United Kingdom. The country has many small towns that provide enough comfort that anyone could hope to enjoy in big cities elsewhere. Determining the best of these towns can throw up a new set of challenges. These boil down to what an individual desires as a part of life and livelihood. At any rate, this video will highlight the small towns generally considered the best by those living in England or desirous of living in the UK. It should be noted that these best small towns to live in Britain are among the best small towns to live in England, as you would soon see.

12. North Berwick, Scotland
We feel good beginning this listing in Scotland. The Scottish town of North Berwick is the first to be considered, albeit in the 12th position among the best small towns to live in Britain. It is a seaside town and former royal burgh in East Lothian. The town situated on the south shore of the Firth of Forth, about 32 kilometers east-northeast of Edinburgh, had been a fashionable holiday resort since the nineteenth century. Its great beaches and exotic coastal sceneries are reasons good enough to consider this town one of the best. This town which is just a 30-minute train journey from Edinburgh is home to a mix of shops, cafes and bars, world-renowned golf courses, and even the 5-star Scottish Seabird Center.
11. Frome, Somerset, England
The next to be considered on this list is Frome, a market town in the eastern part of Somerset County in South West England. This town, sitting on the eastern flanks of the Mendip Hills is some 20 kilometers south of the ancient town of Bath. This probably calls to mind the ancient Roman Spa town. The town with a lot of historic and architecturally fascinating buildings and an attractive town center with many independent shops on both sides has a lot of artists and craftspeople who consider it the best place for them in Britain. It is close to the M4 motorway. It has one of the oldest train stations still in service in Britain with direct services to London Waterloo, Bristol Temple Meads, and Exeter St David's. Its vibrant nightlife is quite attractive.

10. Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire
Henley-on-Thames also deserves to be mentioned here. Considering the riverside location this of town with its surrounding landscape of lush hills and green fields, The Times recently voted it one of the best places to live in England. This pretty riverside market town situated on one of the most stunning stretches of the River Thames lends itself to relaxation, long lunches, and shopping. This town which is home to a well-known detective has won RHS Britain in Bloom medals many times. Henley-on-Thames is not just a beautiful town, but a party town with an international reputation the greatest rowing regatta.

9. Bakewell, England
We next shift our attention to Bakewell, a small market town. This town in the Dales of the county of Derbyshire is some 21 kilometers southwest of Sheffield. Its location in the southeast corner of the Peak District National Park makes it viable for businesses that can be operated more comfortably from a small town. An example of this is the world-famous confection, the Bakewell Pudding. The town is well served by the motorway network, thanks to its location just north of the Midlands. Also, from London, it takes about 4 hours of a train journey to reach this village on a direct route covering about 216 kilometers.
8. St Andrews, Scotland
Let us go back to Scotland to find the next place. The town we are considering next is St Andrews.

Places to see in ( Cheshunt - UK )

Places to see in ( Cheshunt - UK )

Cheshunt is a town in the Borough of Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, but lying entirely within the London Metropolitan Area and Greater London Urban Area. It is 12 miles (19 km) north of central London. The Prime Meridian passes to the east of Cheshunt.

The town name comes from the Old English name (as recorded in the Domesday Book) for the area, Cestrehunt, which probably refers to a castle, erected by the Romans, the word cestre (along with the form ceastre), or even its modern forms, chester and caster being derived from the Latin castrum meaning fort. This is commemorated in the arms of the former Cheshunt urban district council.

Cheshunt was a settlement on Ermine Street, the main Roman road leading north from London. This origin was investigated by the television archaeology programme Time Team. Before the Norman Conquest, the manor of Cheshunt was held by Eddeva the Fair, but William I granted it to Alan of Brittany. The parish church of St Mary the Virgin was first recorded in a charter of 1146, but was entirely rebuilt between 1418 and 1448 with a three-stage tower topped by an octagonal turret.

As Princess Elizabeth, Queen Elizabeth I lived at Cheshunt in the care of Sir Anthony Denny, after she left Queen Catherine Parr's household in 1548. Richard Cromwell, Lord Protector of the Commonwealth, died here in 1712. In 1825, Cheshunt was also the location of the Cheshunt Railway. Running from the town's High Street to the River Lea near the present-day Cheshunt railway station, this 0.75 mi (1.21 km) horse-drawn line was the first passenger-carrying monorail and the first railway line to be built in Hertfordshire.

Up until 2004, Temple Bar stood in Theobalds Park, having been moved from London at the turn of the 19th century. The gateway has since been re-erected in London at Paternoster Square on the north side of St Paul's Cathedral. Cedars Park, Broxbourne, on the site of the historic Theobalds Palace, is a public park that covers 19 hectares (47 acres) of parkland and includes a lake, turf play maze, bocce court, play mound (Venusberg), pet's corner, flint arch and historic walls, tea room and arts centre. The park received a Green Flag award in 2013.

The Old Pond area is located in the centre of Cheshunt and is home to many local businesses. With roads leading to the M25, A10 and towards Broxbourne. Cheshunt Station is located in London Oyster Zone 8. Nearby stations include Theobalds Grove, Waltham Cross, Turkey Street, Southgate (Picadilly Line) and Loughton (Central Line). Cheshunt is located on the A10 trunk road (also known locally as the Great Cambridge Road) which provides links to Junction 25 of the M25 London Orbital Motorway, Central London and Cambridge.

Cheshunt has a mixture of commercial and Hertfordshire County Council contract services. Most buses operate to Waltham Cross (where there are links to north London and Essex), Hoddesdon and Broxbourne. The towns of Hertford, Harlow, Potters Bar, and Waltham Abbey are also linked to Cheshunt. Buses are operated by Arriva, Centrebus, Metroline or Sullivan Buses.

( Cheshunt - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Cheshunt . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Cheshunt - UK

Potters Bar Walk: Town Centre【4K】

Located in the county of Hertfordshire (although historically in Middlesex), and around 15 miles north of central London, is the town of Potters Bar.

The name 'Potters Bar' is believed to be a reference to a Roman pottery sited around the area, with the bar being a possible reference to a toll bar on the Great North Road - a historical coaching route between London and Edinburgh.

For centuries, Potters Bar was a small linear settlement on the edge of Enfield Chase. This began to change from around 1850 with the arrival of the railway in the town, built by the Great Northern Railway. This provided easy access to London and brought about a rise in the population. Further growth occurred following the Second World War, as those whose homes had been destroyed in the blitz were provided with accommodation elsewhere.

Due to the nature of its growth, Potters Bar has two main shopping areas: one around the High Street (the focus of this walk) and one around Darkes Lane where the railway station is located.

Historically, Potters Bar was part of the county of Middlesex up until 1965, at which point the ceremonial county of Greater London was formed. However, unlike most of the rest of Middlesex, Potters Bar did not become part of Greater London, but was transferred to Hertfordshire instead. The creation of the Metropolitan Green Belt saw Potters Bar just north of what is effectively the border into London, directly opposite Barnet on the other side. Since 1974 Potters Bar has been situated within the Hertsmere district of Hertfordshire.

In 2002 a tragic rail accident occurred at Potters Bar. Due to what appeared to be poor track maintenance, the fourth carriage derailed and crossed onto the adjacent line where it flipped into the air. It collided with the station, killing seven - six of whom were onboard and one who was on the platform.

Famous people from Potters Bar include album cover artist Storm Thorgerson and actress Letitia Dean of Eastenders fame.
