Our goal is to combine recent data, fun videos, and thoughts about local culture into bite-sized snacks of shareable information. We call it bite-sized regional infotainment. We try to paint a picture of what’s happening in a region based on “Friday Night Science” — how’d you argue at a bar. A place gringos do NOT go

We're in Campeche, Mexico! After seeing one of our favorite YouTubers @alanxelmundo was just here, we HAD to try and live like Alan for a day!

This vlog is part of our ongoing series where we're traveling Mexico in our tangerine car with our dog, Laska. This week, we drove from Merida, Yucatan to Campeche, Campeche. This colonial town is actually a UNESCO World Heritage site for it's well-preserved architecture and complex history. Today, we'll be attempting to live like one of our favorite YouTubers, Alan x el mundo, for a day in Campeche!

All our activities were inspired by Alan's Campeche videos:
- Trying some typical food of Campeche at Marganzo inside the fort walls
- Giving a tour of our rental with Alan's famous PREUBA DEL COLCHON!! (mattress test) Here's our Airbnb:
- Taking a trolly city tour & eating local ice cream
- Visiting one of Campeche's forts: Fuerte de San Jose el Alto
- Watching the sunset from the Campeche Malecon at Angel Maya
- Trying some more typical food at Cenaduría Portales de San Francisco

Nice day trip from San Diego

The Mexican City they told us NOT to visit

Despite being located about an hour from CDMX, Toluca isn't a very highly recommended city. That didn't stop us from having an absolute blast though!
► Get 3 months free:

In today's Mexico travel vlog, we're in the city of Toluca in the State of Mexico. Why'd we end up here when there are so many more desirable cities close to Mexico City? We're meeting some old friends of ours!

We start off the day at Diego's family's restaurant, Cafe Lusso. Later, @MyTrishAdvisor and Diego are reunited with our husky Laska and we explore the historic center (zocalo) of Toluca. Then, we visit Dulceria Hernandez, a candy store that's over 100 years old! In total Mexico style, we get invited back as we're leaving and get to know the family over some pulque. Finally, we see the highly impressive Cosmovitral, aka the Botanical Garden with the largest stained glass display in the world. This week was a ton of fun!

Taste of Mexico City: The Ultimate Guide to the Best Restaurants and Street Food Spots - 2023

Discover the Ultimate Food Guide to Mexico City in 2023 with our two-week food adventure! As one of the world's biggest cities with close to 22 million people, it's no surprise that Mexico City is considered one of the food capitals of the world. Our video takes you on a culinary journey to some of the best restaurants, taquerias, and street food stands in Mexico City, including hidden gems that you won't find in other YouTube videos.

If you're a taco lover, you'll find nothing but the best in Mexico City, particularly the world-renowned Tacos al Pastor. In the video, we showcase some of the top places specializing in this delicacy, with our favorite being El Vilsito, a taqueria that turns into an auto body shop by day.

Our list of the top five taquerias and street food stands in Mexico City includes El Pescadito, Jenni's Street Quesadillas, Los Cocuyos, Taqueria El Torito, and La Esquina Del Chilaquil. For sit-down meals, we highly recommend Nico's, Contramar, Choza, Rosetta, and Lardo. These restaurants offer great food, perfect ambiance, and are even baby-friendly, as we experienced during our trip.

Besides food, our video takes you on a tour of Xochimilco to ride the trajineras and explore the ancient canals with some friends. If you're looking for a place to stay, Condesa or Roma Norte is the perfect place for you, filled with tree-lined streets and a wide variety of food stalls, coffee shops, and restaurants.

Follow our Instagram page for more information on food destinations worldwide, including our highlight stories from Mexico City, featuring tags of all the places we visited. Don't forget to like and subscribe for more travel food guides.

Oasis State Park, Portales, New Mexico, RV Park Review

Oasis State Park, Portales, New Mexico, RV Park Review by Outdoorstaycations.
Oasis State Park is set among cottonwood trees and shifting sand dunes. An oasis on the grassy plains of New Mexico, It is a popular fishing spot with a 3-acre pond.

The fishing pond is a big draw for this park as well as the low-cost campsites. You can catch catfish and trout. An especially nice feature of the fishing pond is that it is wheelchair accessible. There is an area that you can get right up to the edge of the pond. Also, some of the picnic tables are wheel-chair accessible also.

Oasis State Park has 26 sites including 10 premium tent sites, 13 RV sites with electric and water plus 2 beautiful ADA campsites.

Oasis State Park is located near both Portales and Clovis, New Mexico.

Favorite activities at Oasis Stae Park are hiking on the trails, birdwatching, and fishing.

LIVING IN PORTALES, CDMX MEXICO CITY

Alice and Greg pay a visit to their friend Paige (who previously appeared in our video about Pulquerias in CDMX). At the time of this video, Paige was living in Colonia Portales, Mexico City and getting ready to move to New York City. Portales is a familiar (family-oriented) neighborhood in the southeast part of greater Mexico City. It is known for a beautiful park - Parque los Venados - and its easy accessibility to other parts of Mexico City via various forms of public transportation, which has made it very popular for working families.

Portales is home to Mercado Portales, a large daily fresh food and housewares market, as well as Tianguis Portales, a flea market that specializes in vintage collectibles, electronics, stereo equipments, vinyl, and clothes.

In this video, Paige gives us a short tour of her two bedroom apartment, talks about the rental price and what is included, and chats about living in Portales.

In this video I go way off the beaten path to Seboyeta, New Mexico to find the Los Portales Shrine. This is a nice sacred place with seeps and springs and cold stream nearby too. It is maybe 40 minutes north of I-40, west of Albuquerque a bit.
