Our Favorite Missouri State Park! // Echo Bluff State Park // Eminence, MO [EP 41]
Ever since we stumbled across this beautiful property on the day it opened as Missouri's newest state park in July, 2016, we have loved Echo Bluff State Park. The lodge is expansive with beautifully appointed rooms and a quaint restaurant. The cabins are the perfect combination of rustic and modern. The campground is clean, paved, and has full hookups. The best part is that the gorgeous setting provides great views of Sinking Creek, the beautiful colorful bluff, and surrounding rolling hills. There are many adventures to be had within striking distance of the state park including Alley Mill, Rocky Falls, floating on the Current River, and countless hikes. These are the reasons that Echo Bluff State Park is our favorite! :)

We visited St Louis, Missouri, which a recent Forbes article named the most dangerous city in the country. With 70 murders per 100,000, St Louis ranked #1 last year. The city does have a clean, nice downtown and I went up in the Gateway Arch, which was amazing. The city has many other claims to fame as well, such as being the first U.S. city to host the Olympics (1904).

Poplar Bluff, MO: Wandering Walks of Wonder Walking Tour 4K
Poplar Bluff is a small city in Butler County in Southeast Missouri. It is the county seat of Butler County and is known as The Gateway to the Ozarks among other names. Poplar Bluff takes its name from a bluff that overlooks the Black River. When first settled, the bluff was covered with tulip poplar trees. The Butler County Courthouse and the offices of the city's Daily American Republic newspaper sit on this site. Poplar Bluff lies along an escarpment separating the foothills of the Ozarks from the Mississippi embayment of Southeast Missouri. The foothills lie to the north and west and the embayment is to the south and east. The surrounding area is commonly known as the Three Rivers with many local organizations and businesses using the name. The three rivers—Current River, Black River, and St. Francis River—are 40 miles apart with Poplar Bluff located in the center on the Black River.

We had a wonderful time at this COE in Poplar Bluff. It was peaceful at night even though we were on a busy road. The barbecue at Dexter‘s barbecue in town was excellent. We had good Wi-Fi while we were there. And the lake is beautiful. Enjoy!
