পিরোজপুরের উত্তরে বরিশাল ও গোপালগঞ্জ, দক্ষিণে বরগুনা, পূর্বে ঝালকাঠি ও বরগুনা এবং পশ্চিমে বাগেরহাট ও সুন্দরবন অবস্থিত। পশ্চিমে বলেশ্বর নদী পিরোজপুরকে বাগেরহাটের থেকে আলাদা করেছে। পিরোজপুর জেলায় মোট ৭টি উপজেলা রয়েছে। উপজেলাগুলো হল পিরোজপুর সদর, নাজিরপুর, ভাণ্ডারিয়া, মঠবাড়িয়া, কাউখালী, নেছারাবাদ এবং ইন্দুরকানী।
ঢাকা থেকে লঞ্চে খুব সহজেই পিরোজপুর আসা যায়
তাছাড়া বাসেও আসতে পারবেন। ঢাকার গুলিস্থান থেকে বাস ছাড়ে (দোলা পরিবহন, এমাদ পরিবহন) ।

Barguna is a town in Barguna district in southern Bangladesh. It is the administrative headquarter and the largest town of Barguna district and a part of Barisal Division.
There are different opinions about the origin of the name Barguna. The general belief is that the name is derived from Bengali name Baragun meaning high tide. The remote past wood traders from the northern region had to wait here for Baragun (high tide) to pull their boats against strong current of the Khakdon river. While others say, Barguna was named after an eminent Magh people who settled there at the very beginning of the habitation. As to the concept of history and folk, Barguna was named the official name likely in 1871, through the creation of a Patuakhali subdivision under then Bakerganj District (present Barisal).

বাইনচটকি থেকে ২০০ টাকা বাইক ভাড়া নিয়ে চলে যাবেন হরিণঘাটায় এবং টিকেট এর মুল্য ১৩ টাকা।

সুজলা সুফলা শষ্য শ্যামলা আমাদের প্রিয় বাংলাদেশ। যার প্রতিটি পরতে পরতে রয়েছে সৌন্দর্যের বাহার। তেমনি প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দর্যের ভরপুর একজনপদ পিরোজপুর জেলার ইন্দুরকানী উপজেলা।
তিন দিক থেকে নদী বেষ্টিত ইন্দুরকানীর অধিকাংশ বাসিন্দার জীবন জীবিকা কৃষি ও নদী নির্ভর। বঙ্গোপসাগর ও সুন্দরবনের খুব কাছাকাছি হওয়ায় এখানকার প্রাকৃতিক পরিবেশ সুন্দরবনের আবহে গড়ে উঠেছে।
সুন্দরবনের ঐশ্ব্যর্যকে লালন করে পিরোজপুরের ইন্দুরকানীতে গড়ে উঠেছে প্রাকৃতি সৌন্দর্যের এক অপার লীলাভুমি। যার সুন্দরবন থেকে দূরত্ব মাত্র ২০ কিলোমিটার। পিরোজপুর সদর থেকে পাড়েরহাট মৎস্য বন্দর হয়ে দক্ষিন দিকে যাত্রা করলেই এ লীলাভুমির অবস্থান। এর মূল ঐশ্ব্যর্য ছৈলা বন। বলেশ্বর ও পানগুচি নদীর মোহনায় প্রকৃতির আপন খেয়ালে গড়ে উঠেছে শান্ত, ¯œীগ্ধ, লাবন্যময় এ বনভুমি।
বলেশ্বর নদের উৎপত্তি সরাসরি বঙ্গোপ সাগর থেকে। আর পানগুচির শুরু বলেশ্বর থেকে। বনানির ঐশ্বর্যে ভরা এ বনটির শুরু দুই নদ নদীর মিলনস্থলে। যা দক্ষিন দিক থেকে এগিয়ে গিয়েছে উত্তরের দিকে। ইন্দুরকানী উপজেলার বালিপাড়া ইউনিয়নের খোলপটুয়া গ্রামের একটি অংশ ঘিরে গড়ে উঠেছে এ বন।

Indurkani in Pirojpur has developed a land of natural beauty by cultivating the splendor of the Sundarbans.
The distance from the Sundarbans is only 20 kilometers. If you travel south from Pirojpur Sadar through Parerhat Fisheries Port, you will find this green land. Its main richness is the Chaila forest. At the mouth of the Baleshwar and Panguchi rivers, this peaceful, lush, lush forest has developed in its own way.
The Baleshwar River originates directly from the Bay of Bengal. And Panguchi started from Baleshwar. This forest, full of Banani splendor, started at the confluence of two rivers. Which proceeded from the south to the north. The forest has developed around a part of Kholpatua village in Balipara union of Indurkani upazila.

সুন্দরবনের কোলঘেঁষা কালীগঙ্গা, বলেশ্বর, দামোদর, সন্ধ্যা বিধৌত প্রাকৃতিক সবুজের লীলাভূমি পিরোজপুর জেলা। বৈচিত্র্যে ভরপুর পিরোজপুর জেলার উত্তরে গোপালগঞ্জ, উত্তর-পূর্বে বরিশাল ও ঝালকাঠী, দক্ষিণ-পশ্চিমে বাগেরহাট এবং দক্ষিণ-পূর্বে বরগুনা জেলা অবস্থিত। জেলার একদিকে লবণপানি অন্য দিকে মিঠা পানির অবস্থান। ঊনবিংশ শতাব্দীর প্রথম দিক থেকে বাকেরগঞ্জ জেলার বিভিন্ন নদী গর্ভে, মোহনায় ছোট ছোট দ্বীপাঞ্চল সৃষ্টি এবং এর দ্রুত বৃদ্ধি হতে থাকে। দক্ষিণাঞ্চলের সুন্দরবনের জঙ্গল কাটা হলে আবাদযোগ্য ভূমির আয়তনও ক্রমশ বৃদ্ধি পেতে থাকে। এ সময় ভূমি সংক্রান্ত বিরোধ, দক্ষিণাঞ্চলের কৃষক বিদ্রোহ, পিরোজপুরের কালীগঙ্গা, কচাঁ, বলেশ্বর প্রভৃতি নদীতে মগ জলদস্যুদের উপদ্রব, বিশেষত: ঐ সকল নদীতে চুরি, ডাকাতি, লুন্ঠনসহ বিভিন্ন ফৌজদারি অপরাধ বৃদ্ধি পেতে থাকে। ফলে সাধারণ প্রশাসন এবং ভূমি প্রশাসনের সুবিধাজনক অধ্যায় সৃষ্টির উদ্দেশ্যে এবং ফৌজদারি ও দেওয়ানি বিরোধের বিচারকার্য তড়িৎ সম্পাদনের লক্ষ্যে পিরোজপুর মহকুমা স্থাপনের প্রয়োজনীয়তা অনুভূত হয়। বাকেরগঞ্জ তদানীন্তন জেলা ম্যাজিস্ট্রেট এইচ.এ.আর. আলেকজান্ডার ১৮৫৬ সালের ২৪ এপ্রিল পিরোজপুরে মহকুমা স্থাপনের প্রস্তাব দেন।

পিরোজপুর মঠবাড়িয়া উপজেলার মিরুখালি ইউনিয়নে “কুলু জমিদার বাড়ির ” নান্দনিক নির্মানশৈলী ও দৃষ্টিনন্দন কারুকার্যের তৈরি ২০০ বছরের প্রাচীন দূর্গা মন্দির।
এই বাড়ি সম্পর্কে জনশ্রুতি আছে, প্রায় ২০০ বছর আগে বরিশাল থেকে বৃন্দাবন চন্দ্র কুলু নামে এক ব্যবসায়ী এখানে আসেন। তখনই এ বাড়ির গোড়াপত্তন হয়। বৃন্দাবনের তিন ছেলে পূর্ণচন্দ্র রায়, মহেশচন্দ্র রায় ও গুরুচরণ রায়ের মধ্যে বড় ছেলে পূর্ণচন্দ্র তখনকার জমিদারদের কাছ থেকে এ এলাকার জমিদারি পত্তন লাভ করেন। এ বাড়ির বিশাল প্রাসাদ এবং নয়াভিরাম মন্দির তিনিই নির্মাণ করেন। পরে পূর্ণচন্দ্র রায়ের দুই ছেলে শ্যামল লাল রায় এবং নলিনী রঞ্জন রায় এলাকায় রাজত্ব করেন।

I had the privilege to visit and spend some time at the majestic backwater and floating guava market of Barisal, Pirojpur, and Jhalokathi of Bangladesh. I was truly amazed by the clean canal water, the tranquility of the surroundings, and the greenery of the place.
