The video shows a drive close to the belgian-french border in The Ardennes region. We are driving through a beautiful hilly landscape, with wide-open views, as the road is mostly built on higher terrain. We are also crossing some typical villages on the way between the beautiful towns of Dinant and Mons, gaining a comprehensive understanding of how this area looks like. This day it was very warm (26 Degrees Celcius) but below in the tunnels it was a nice constant 15 Degrees, my Kodak Playsport is not suited for low light filming but it managed to do alright. Sometimes you will see me filming clumps of cement with a fingerprint in it, these are the actual fingerprints from the builders back in the 17th Century, these where their signatures that they build this section/tunnel.

Safe to say that Dinant is a city with sax appeal, as the birthplace of Adolphe Sax (1814-1894), the inventor of the saxophone. There are saxophone monuments all over town in his honour, including along the bridge on which Charles de Gaulle took a bullet in the leg in 1914.

The city suffered devastation again at the beginning of the First World War. On the 15 August 1914, French and German troops fought for the town in the Battle of Dinant, among the wounded was Lieut. Charles de Gaulle. On 23 August, 674 inhabitants were summarily executed by Saxon troops of the German Army — the biggest massacre committed by the Germans in 1914. Within a month, some five thousand Belgian and French civilians were killed by the Germans at numerous similar occasions.
