Petroșani is a city in Hunedoara County, Transylvania, Romania. The city has been associated with mining since the 19th century.
The town became part of Romania in 1920 as a consequence of the Treaty of Trianon.
The population experienced massive growth only in the 20th century during the communist regime, as many workers were brought in from other parts of the country.
As other cities from the Jiu Valley, throughout the second half of the 19th century and most of the 20th century, most activities in the city revolved around the mines. But after the fall of the communist regime, many mines were closed, and the city, just like the whole valley, was forced to diversify the economy. This has also led to a significant population decline: Petroșani is one of the Romanian cities which has experienced the fastest population loss from the 1990s onwards.

Welcome to Transylvania! This part of Romania is absolutely packed full of amazing scenery and beautiful places to visit, in this video I will show you 3 mind blowing locations that will certainly make you want to travel to Romania!

We begin this video right on the southern borders of Transylvania, searching through the woods of Cozia National Park for the stunning waterfall known as Cascada Lotrișor.

After this, we headed north, spending a couple of days in the beautiful city of Sibiu, which is also known as 'the heart of Transylvania', before continuing north to one of our favourite locations we have seen in Romania... Cheile Turzii. The scale of this gorge is so impressive and the walk is incredibly fun!

We finish the video with one of the mist iconic and unique attractions in all Romania... Salina Turda (also known as Turda Salt Mine). This place is so unique and you'll have your jaw on the floor the entire way round.

Unul dintre cele mai frumoase locuri din ROMANIA [S1 - Eps. 11]

In episodul de astazi am plecat cu motocicleta sa descopar unele dintre cele mai frumoase si fascinante locuri din Romania. Este vorba de Pestera Bolii si Cheile Banitei.

Acestea se afla in judetul Hunedoara, foarte aproape de Petrosani. Sincer, nu credeam ca exista asemenea locuri. Cheile Banitei sunt mai putin cunoscute in Romania. Pentru a vizita cheile mi-am luat niste slapi, caci trebuie parcurse prin apa. Aceasta nu este foarte adanca, in cele mai multe zone este un pic peste glezne. Am ramas surpins de ce am vazut acolo.

Foarte aproape de chei se afla si pestera Bolii. Singura pestera din Romania care este strabatuta in intregime de un rau. Intrarea pesterii este uriasa iar interiorul te lasa fara cuvinte.

Traseul meu a fost urmatorul: Lugoj - Caransebes - Hateg - Pestera Bolii - Cheile Banitei.
