The Manora fort is situated 20 km (12 mi) away from Pattukkottai, Tamil Nadu, India and 60 km (37 mi) away from Thanjavur. The fort was built by Maratha ruler Serfoji II in 1814–1815 to commemorate the successful advance of the British over Napoléon Bonaparte. It is an eight-storeyed, hexagonal tower, which is 23 m high overlooking the Bay of Bengal. The fort derives its name Manora, from the word Minaret.

Tiruchirappalli is a famous industrial and educational city in Tamil Nadu. It is a place dotted with many temples, churches and monuments. The scenic charm of the place makes it one of the most visited places in Tamil Nadu. The rich cultural heritage of the city can be seen through the architecture of buildings in this city. Situated in Srirangam Town, Trichy, Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple is one of the other Trichy famous places to visit. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is amongst the major Hindu temples of the country. It is one of the must-visit temples for anyone interested in religious beliefs of the place or simply curious in knowing about the culture of Tamil Nadu.

Tourist place in Thanjavur, Peravurani Manora Fort
The fort was built by Maratha ruler Serfoji II (1777-1832 CE) in 1814–1815 to commemorate the successful advance of the British over Napoleon Bonaparte (15 August 1769 – 5 May 1821) in theBattle of Waterloo in 1815. The fort acted as a residence for the royal family and also as a light house. A stone inscription reads “a friend and ally of the British to commemorate triumphs of British Arms and downfall of Bonaparte”.
The inscription inside the tower states that Serfoji II constructed this memorial tower, to commemorate the British victory over Napoleon Bonaparte. In 1964, the Nayaka throne was captured by Ekoji, also known as Venkoji, the younger half-brother of Chatrapatti Shivaji; Thanjavur thereupon became the capital of an independent branch of Maratha Empire established by Shivaji. Among the Maratha rulers at Thanjavur, Sarafoji II, who reigned from 1798 to 1833, was the most interesting.
