Top 10 places to visit in Wales

Weather you are going on a family holiday or just travelling on your own, here are some interesting places to visit in Wales. Fantastic beached, stunning cliffs and caves and magnificent castles. Hidden Gems in Pembrokeshire | Waterfalls and Neolithic Tombs

In this video we search for waterfalls, a neolithic tomb, and a house made of shells! All hidden gems in the beautiful Pembrokeshire countryside.

We visit Ffynone Falls, Cilwendeg Shellhouse, and Pentre Ifan, all beautiful and unique places with interesting stories and history.

Ffynone Falls is located in North Pembrokeshire and carves through a steep wooded valley, before cascading down a final fall to a deep pool. The pool is so deep that it is said to be the place of the Legendary otherworld of Annwn, and is a popular place to go wild swimming.

The Shellhouse forms part of the Cilwendeg estate, and the inside is lavishly decorated with seashells, fragments of coloured glass, and the knuckle bones of sheep and cows.

Pentre Ifan on the other hand, is perhaps the most famous image associated with ancient Wales. This impressive looking Neolithic Dolman is thought to have been built in 3500BC and is currently maintained by Cadw, the Welsh Historic Monuments Agency. Its original use was thought to be a neolithic communal burial site, though there are still many theories.

Places to see in ( Betws y Coed - UK )

Places to see in ( Betws y Coed - UK )

Betws-y-Coed is a village and community in the Conwy valley in Conwy County Borough, Wales. The name Betws or Bettws is generally thought to be derived from the Anglo-Saxon Old English bed-hus—i.e. a bead-house: a house of prayer, or oratory. The earliest record of the name is Betus, in 1254.

Betws-y-Coed is one of the honeypot locations in Snowdonia. It lies in the Snowdonia National Park, in a valley near the point where the River Conwy is joined by the River Llugwy and the River Lledr, and was founded around a monastery in the late sixth century. The village grew very slowly with the development of the local lead mining industry. In 1815, the Waterloo Bridge, built by Thomas Telford to carry the London to Holyhead road (now the A5) across the River Conwy and through the village, brought considerable transport-related development. The village became a major coaching centre between Corwen (to the east) and Capel Curig (to the west) on the Irish Mail route from London to Holyhead, which led to the improvement of the roads south to Blaenau Ffestiniog and north to Llanrwst and Conwy. It is a primary destination for the purpose of road signs.

Construction of Betws-y-Coed railway station in 1868 heralded the arrival of the railway line from Llandudno Junction railway station, and resulted in the village's population increasing by around 500.

The village has a large village green which is the playing field for the local football team. The green is bounded on its western side by the A5 trunk road, with 19th century buildings, including shops, hotels, and the Church of St Mary. This church was built on the site of a former cockpit and fairground, and although it is of early English appearance, it was completed as recently as 1873, the internal roof timbers testifying to this relatively young age. The interior also features various types of stone: local bluestone, sandstone (and floor tiles) from Ancaster, and black serpentine from Cornwall. The square bell tower was added in 1907, and the integral church hall was added in the 1970s, the commemorative stone being laid by the Earl of Ancaster in 1976.

On the southern side of the green is Betws-y-Coed railway station with cafes and tourist shops and a car park. In the former railway goods yard, reached from the station, is the Conwy Valley Railway Museum with its extensive miniature railway.

Other attractions in the village include the Miners' Bridge and the 14th century church of St. Michael, which is the origin of the name Betws (meaning prayer-house). There are scenic walks beside the River Llugwy, which flows through the village, and the River Conwy provides further attractions, including the Fairy Glen, the Conwy Fish pass and waterfalls including the Conwy Falls. The Pont-y-Pair Falls are in the centre of the village (also the site of a 53-hole rock cannon), and a mile upstream are the famous Swallow Falls.

The Llyn Elsi reservoir nearby is popular with walkers and anglers, and also provides water for the village. A wide range of footpaths provide access to the lake, both from Betws y Coed itself and the outlying village of Pentre Du. There are many other small lakes in the vicinity.

The village is also a centre for outdoor activities and lies within the Gwydyr Forest. The current Betws-y-Coed Golf Club was founded in the 1970s. There was a much earlier club and course located on or near the Recreation Ground. The village is home to at least one well known rock band; Melys were founded there in 1996.

The Betws-y-Coed railway station, a passenger station on the Conwy Valley Line from Llandudno Junction to Blaenau Ffestiniog, is an integral part of the settlement's tourism industry. The train service is operated by Arriva Trains Wales and is marketed as the Conwy Valley Railway

( Betws y Coed - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Betws y Coed . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Betws y Coed - UK

Places to see in ( Flint - UK )

Places to see in ( Flint - UK )

Flint is a town in Flintshire, Wales, lying on the estuary of the River Dee. It was formerly Flintshire's county town, and is today the third largest town in the county. According to the 2001 Census the population of the community of Flint was 12,804, increasing to 12,953 at the 2011 census. There has recently been an Urdd Eisteddfod in flint and people all over wales came to participate.

Flint railway station lies on the North Wales Coast Line, providing services between Manchester Piccadilly station and Llandudno railway station. A north-south service between Cardiff Central railway station and Holyhead also calls, as do selected West Coast Main Line railway stations between London Euston and Holyhead

Flint is located in north-east Wales, adjoining the River Dee, to the north of the town of Mold. Across the River Dee, the Wirral can be seen from Flint and views to the south of the town include Halkyn Mountain. As the crow flies, Flint is located less than 12 miles from the English urban area of Liverpool, and even closer to its metro area. However, due to the two bays/rivers in between, driving distance is almost twice as long.

Edward I began to build Flint Castle in 1277, during his campaign to conquer Wales. Both castle and town were attacked by the forces of Madog ap Llywelyn during the revolt of 1294-95; the defenders of the town burnt it in order to deny its use to the Welsh.

In 1969 Flint hosted the National Eisteddfod, and so the town has a circle of Gorsedd stones in the field adjacent to Gwynedd County Primary School. In July 2006 the stones were centre stage in the National Eisteddfod Proclamation Ceremony which formally announced Mold as the 2007 host town of the event.

Flint once had its own low-powered television relay transmitter, designed to provide improved coverage of Welsh channels in an area that would otherwise receive only English television signals. Since 2009, signals are now transmitted from Storeton transmitting station on the Wirral. Perhaps one of the town's most striking images, in addition to the castle, is the group of three tower blocks of flats near the town centre. The first two blocks were built in the 1960s and named Bolingbroke Heights and Richard Heights, with a third, Castle Heights, added shortly afterwards. Flint has a local football team Flint Town United. They play in the Cymru Alliance.

( Flint - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Flint . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Flint - UK

The Mystery of the Standing Stones of Crug Las in West Wales Drone footage with stunning scenery

#Mabinogi, #DJI Mini 2, #4k Cinematic Footage, #Beautiful Wales, #Arial #Photography #Meditation , Welcome to Dronescaping Britain also known as Dronescaping Ynys Prydain I chose the easier to remember Dronescaping Britain as the new name for the channel as folk can remember that title better.
A Drone Egg is a short movie of Cinematic footage of spectacular scenery, involving fly rounds and other neat cinematic moves. Not necessarily as in this case Hillforts or Cairns, Stone Circles etc but features within the landscape that exude a sense of 'Genus Loci' ~ the spirit of place. In other words very special locations that mean things to aeons of humanity and somehow give off a vibe to those sensitive enough to feel it.
Deep in the heart of coastal Ceredigion
In the community of Llandasiliogogo
There is an ancient monument
A most strange and unusual configuration of standing stones
Known as “Crug Las”
It is a registered ancient monument at The National Cofflein Database (NPRN 303784)
And marked on Ordnance Survey maps.
Situated on the summit of a high round hill
With no public access
The public don’t get to see it
Except from the air.
This area of Wales, famous for monuments such as Pentre Ifan, and is not far from Waun Mawn the site of the source of the Blue Stones that were moved to Stonehenge.
But “Crug Las” is not commonly known.
The views from this location are spectacular on a clear day
With views across Cardigan Bay to the Llyn Peninsula and Snowdonia to the north
And to the Preseli Mountains to the south and the Cambrian Mountains to the East.
It’s little wonder why our ancestors would want to venerate this place, perhaps with burials of their tribal or family leaders.

But what of this mysterious and enigmatic monument?

Is it for real?

We found no known pictures or archaeology connected with this site.
Searches brought up vague references to the Romans .
The Cofflein Database has it registered as a “Round Cairn”
And adds..
“With a modern cairn” on top of it.
So what are we to make of that?
Seems a bit organised to be a pile of stones, although there are stones scattered about.
But what about the large square stones?
And the odd stones placed on top.
There seems to be a large block of quartz on the east side
Doesn’t that large stone have a bird head shaped rock on top?
If you have any thoughts or comments on what this is
Please comment below.
As far as we could see this is the only known photography there is of this monument.
