KEUKA LAKE: at Hammondsport and Penn Yan in New York's Finger Lakes Region
Keuka Lake is the notorious Y-shaped lake of the Finger Lakes region in Western New York. At the southern end is Hammondsport, and at the northern end is Penn Yan. The end of the northwest fork is not incorporated, but contains Keuka Lake State Park. Enjoy the tour around the lake.

Ithaca is the largest city in New York's Finger Lakes region. It is a beautiful, lively place to visit with a lot going for it. Set in a beautiful place at the southern tip of Cayuga Lake, it is known for being home to Cornell University and Ithaca College, both of which are in the Ivy League, as well as for the over 150 waterfalls and dozens of gorges that dot the area.

Part 2 - Exploring the the Finger Lakes!
This week we conclude our adventures in the New York Finger Lakes. We start our adventure in the town of Skaneateles that sits on the northern edge of Skaneateles Lake. This historic town is a popular vacation destination and has charming shops, restaurants and beautiful inns. The lake is one of the cleanest lakes in the US!
Our next stop Geneva at the northern edge of Seneca Lake. We enjoyed walking on the lakefront and celebrated the one year anniversary of our Airstream Flying Cloud.
During our visit to the Finger Lakes we made our home base in Hector at the Finger Lakes RV Resort. This area had lots of wineries, farm stands and fun restaurants…we highly recommend visiting this area, there is so much to see and do.
Seneca Falls was a highlight of our stay in the Finger Lakes being the home of the first Women’s Rights Convention! The museums and exhibits are excellent as well as the shops and restaurants. This is also known to be the inspiration for the 1946 iconic Christmas movie “It’s a Wonderful Life”! We walked over the bridge that Jimmy Stewart jumped from into the icy water to be saved by an angel.
Ithaca is home to Cornell University and is surrounded by several waterfalls. We checked out Ithaca Falls, Buttermilk Falls and Taughannock Falls!

Penn Yan is an incorporated village and the county seat of Yates County, New York, United States. It lies at the north end of the east branch of Keuka Lake, one of the Finger Lakes. Penn Yan, New York is home to one of the oldest mills in the United States, The Birkett Mills, founded in 1797.

Seneca Falls: Known to be the birthplace of the women’s rights movement, Seneca Falls is nestled between Cayuga Lake and Seneca Lake. This small town is also said to be the inspiration for many key scenes of the Christmas movie, It’s a Wonderful Life! There is even an adorable museum in town dedicated to the movie!
Ithaca: Home to Cornell University, Ithaca is located on Cayuga Lake! Do some shopping at the Ithaca Commons or head to Ithaca Falls to get your dose of nature!
Watkins Glen: This small town was probably my favourite! It’s nature lovers paradise with the stunning Watkins Glen State Park entrance located right in town! The small town is also located on Seneca Lake, so don’t forget to take a stroll on the boardwalk dock!
Geneva: Located on Seneca Lake, Geneva is a picturesque town with lots to see and do! I highly recommend heading to Belhurst Castle to have lunch at the Stonecutter’s Tavern! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was magical!
Penn Yan: Located on the north end of Keuka Lake, Penn Yan is a quaint small town with a historic downtown and beautiful trails. The Keuka Lake Outlet Trail is a great way to take in the natural beauty of the area! Be sure to check out Seneca Mills Falls, right along the trail!

Finger Lakes Flea Market Day Trip!
We decided to take a day trip to the Finger Lakes region of New York! Between Seneca Lake and Keuka Lake, in Penn Yan, is a huge flea market called The Windmill!
In this video, we explore The Windmill for its shops and food. We give you an overview and look at all of the different shops in The Windmill and review the food that we ate while we were there.
This was a fun and spontaneous day trip, and we're happy to have you along!

4th Of July 2022 Penn Yan Breakfast
Penn Yan KPEO airport in New York has an annual July 4th fly in breakfast. I have been to them a handful of times in the past, and this year recorded our flight in and out of the airport. Mike was flying his first time there, and I helped with the radios and navigation so that he could focus on the flying itself. There is a steady stream of planes flying in from all directions, and it is up to each pilot to see and avoid each other while flying in and out. Surrounded by the Finger Lakes, it is a very scenic flight, and it was a clear sky and calm winds day! On the departure flight, do we find John Travolta's house?? Hmm, maybe? Enjoy!!
