Tiger Nest Bhutan – Trekking to Bhutan’s spectacular Monastery | Travelling in Bhutan | Bhutan

This is second video of my Bhutan trip, It's about my trek to Paro Taktsang / Tiger Nest.
Paro Taktsang also known as Tiger’s nest most famous attractions in Bhutan.
The monastery is located 10km to the north of Paro and hangs on cliff at more than 3000 meters (10,000 feet above sea level). The rock slopes are very steep almost vertical, and the monastery buildings are built into the rock face.
Plan your trek as early as possible in the morning to enjoy the perfect weather.
During 5-6km trek you will find a small café midway where you can relax and have some food (there are no other shops in between).
You must pay 500 Indian Currency or Bhutan currency for Tiger’s nest trek, they will provide you small locker at temple and guide who will give you full information and history of monastery.
The small cliffside monastery known as the Tiger's Nest is said to be the meditation site of an eighth-century Buddhist master.
A temple complex was first built in 1692, around the Taktsang Senge Samdup cave where Guru Padmasambhava is said to have meditated for Four Months in the 8th century.
He flew to this place from Tibet on the back of Yeshe Tsogyal, whom he transformed into a flying tigress for the purpose and landed at the cliff, which he anointed as the place for building a monastery. He established Buddhism and the Nyingmapa school of Mahayana Buddhism in Bhutan, and has been considered the “protector saint of Bhutan”.
On April 19, 1998, a fire broke out in the main building of the monastery complex, which contained valuable paintings, artefacts and statues. The fire is believed to have been caused by electrical short-circuiting or flickering butter lamps lighting the hanging tapestries.

CLIMATE CHANGE THREATENS THE GUARDIAN OF MOUNTAINS OF BHUTAN

I trailed nomad Kencho, whom I met in 2018 in Nuptsonapata. This time I followed him to one of his Migratory huts in the Mountains of Haa.

Kencho is one of the youngest and the last nomad in his family. He has lived in the mountains for the past 15 years after he completed 10th grade.

Although he inherited the nomadic lifestyle only in his early 20s, he shared things have changed drastically in the mountains in the last decade. What was once a perfect place for yaks is now changing for the worse as glaciers melt, floods, landslides, human-wildlife conflict, and diseases spread.

For Kencho and his herd, migration has become more frequent in recent times. Reduced and untimely rainfall and increased temperatures have impacted the quantity and quality of grass on the pastures.

Today the impact of climate change is forcing nomadic herders in the Himalayas to leave the mountains and move to towns and cities. While some nomads are on the verge of finding their new identity, few other are striving to keep the culture of nomadism alive.

For now, Kencho is moving from one mountain to another in search of fresh water and grass for his yaks. As Kencho buries himself into the pillow, he often worries about his yak and future.

Stay tuned for more stories…

Passing Through Dungsam Dewathang Highway In Eastern Bhutan

I was on the way to Samdrup Jongkhar during my Holidays. I couldn’t go to the main town of Dungsam Deothang.

In the past and even today, the districts of Pemagatshel and Samdrup Jongkhar are commonly referred to as Dungsam. Dungsam consists of five popular villages: Dungsam Dewathang, Dungsam Nganglam, Dungsam Dechheling, Dungsam Khar, and Dungsam Khoi Dung. Pemagathsel has three hills that are shaped like conches, and the name Dungsam comes from these three hills. The word dungkar in the Sharchop dialect means conch, and dung is the shortened form. Sam means three, so Dungsam means three conches in literal terms.

Dungsam Dewathang is a town situated in the southeastern part of Bhutan, near the Indian border. It is one of the five prominent villages in the Dungsam region that encompasses the districts of Pemagatshel and Samdrup Jongkhar. The town is a significant commercial and industrial hub in the region, and it is also home to essential institutions, such as a hospital, a high school, and The Jigme Namgyel Engineering College. The college is a renowned institution in Bhutan, providing quality engineering education to students. Additionally, Dungsam Dewathang boasts stunning landscapes, including lush green forests, rivers, and hills, making it a popular tourist destination. Overall, Dungsam Dewathang is a vibrant and essential town in Bhutan's Dungsam region.

Bhutanese people going for hotstone bath (Dobji Dzong & Bjagay Menchu) [Paro] 4K#bhutan #subscribe

Dobji Dzong is on a ridge on the national highway from Thimphu to Haa, Paro District, just a few kilometers south of the confluence of the Paro and Thimphu rivers at Chuzom. Today the dzong houses a monastic school
Dobji Dzong was built in 1531 by Ngawang Chogyal who was the brother of Lam Drukpa Kuenley known as The Divine Madman. He named the new fortress Dogar Druk Chokhorgang, meaning Stone Castle of Bhutan. According to legend, he chose the site by tracing an underground stream from the Ralung monastery in Tibet to its outlet at a boulder above the present fortress. This sacred spring, later dubbed the Dobdrek Drub Chu, is believed to have magical healing properties.

Bjagay Menchu :
Bjagay Menchu in Paro is known for its healing properties. It’s particularly believed to heal bone injuries and fractures faster and attracts people from all over the country.

Six Senses Bhutan, Thimphu Lodge full tour AMAZING hotel

“Facilities & Ambience was really good which can be rated with any 3 star hotel. It’s situated opposite to the sports complex commonly known as football stadium which is walkable from the bus stand/ taxi stand. The immigration office is also nearby. I got it at reasonable price but when I had to book for a second day, the price went up thrice.”

The military history of Bhutan begins with the Battle of Five Lamas in 1634, marking Bhutan's emergence as a nation under the secular and religious leadership of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. Before Bhutan emerged as a separate nation, it remained on the periphery of Tibetan military and political influence.
