Paso Robles Travel Guide | Travel

Fun fact: Halfway through the trip, I learned that locals actually pronounce the name of the city as Paso Row•bulls but either pronunciation is considered fine.

Featured wineries and things to do in Paso Robles:

Allegretto Vineyard Resort By Ayres -
A luxury resort in the heart of Paso Robles. I absolutely loved this Tuscan-inspired hotel and winery.

Halter Ranch
Take the Jeep tour around the property!

DAOU Vineyards & Winery
Probably my favorite winery I visited in Paso Robles, DAOU is the highest elevated winery on the Central Coast so it offers panoramic views of the rolling hills. DAOU is family-owned and operated and features a restaurant that serves Mediterranean cuisine.

Eleven Twenty Two
A new speakeasy cocktail lounge located on Railroad Street behind Pappy’s McGregor’s. The 30 seat bar, offers a variety of handcrafted cocktails. We had the Smoke in the Alley which was an Old Fashioned with a twist.

Alta Colina
Definitely make a reservation for a private Summit Vineyard Tasting ($35/person) during sunset hour and enjoy spectacular views of the vineyard. Also, make sure to check out the Trailer Pond if you’re looking for a unique place to stay in Paso Robles that will force you to unplug.

Refugio
Book a room at the Refugio House and take a cooking class in the indoor/outdoor kitchen taught by Brigit Binns, one half of the husband and wife duo, and food aficionado.

Harmony Lavender Farm

AmByth Estate Tour
Paso Robles’ first and only winery to produce Demeter certified Biodynamic wines.

Etto
Located in the vibrant Tin City, this artisanal pasta factory has an open kitchen so you can watch fresh pasta being made. They also have a retail section so you can stock up on locally produced goods.

Kiler Ridge Olive Farm
This was one of my favorite things to do in Paso Robles. I learned so much about the Extra Virgin Olive Oil process and what to look for when purchasing EVOO in stores.

JUSTIN Winery
My favorite Cabernet Sauvignon is made by JUSTIN Wine so I was thrilled to be able to visit the vineyards. The food at the restaurant was fantastic and I highly recommend pairing your meal with a wine flight! I was also excited to hear they will be opening a tasting room in downtown Paso Robles in the coming months.

Not featured in the video, but also highly recommend Bistro Laurent which is a French restaurant located in downtown Paso Robles.

In this episode of Hopscotch Roadmap, Siya, Kristen, and their daughter, Kai, head to Cava Robles RV Resort in Paso Robles to see the sights. This amazing destination is located on the Central Coast of California between Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Siya begins by showcasing some of the wine-themed features of the resort after they check in – like chairs made of wine barrels! Kristen also rents a bike from the front office to show off the amazing scenery that surrounds you with nature.

The family starts their first full day in wine country with an afternoon tasting at Pasolivo Olive Oil. Their tasting room offers a great selection of organic olives and olive oils for guests to sample. Afterwards, they head back to the resort, where they give you another inside peek at amenities like the food cart, live music, and golf carts available at Cava Robles.

You can’t go to Paso Robles without visiting a winery, so the crew at Hopscotch Roadmap decided to have a picnic lunch and enjoy a wine tasting on day two. Before arriving at the vineyard, Siya, Kristen, and Kai, stopped at the local Paso Market to pick out some picnic supplies. This indoor market offers dining outside and has an incredible selection of tasty treats.

Once they had their picnic staples, they headed out to Sculpterra Winery and Sculpture Garden, so Siya and Kristen could taste some of their delicious wines. Like many wineries in Paso Robles, Sculpterra grows a selection of grapes on 60 sprawling acres, as well as crops of pistachios. They cap off the experience with a stroll through the gift shop, full of art, knickknacks, and of course, wine!

Make sure to hit the like button if you loved this tour of Paso Robles wine country with the gang at Hopscotch Roadmap. Or leave us a comment and let us know about your favorite winery in California. Wine Oh! TV is a fun and informative food and wine travel show that gets to the heart of every wine region. Join the journey as Monique Soltani travels the world bringing people together by breaking bread, opening up a bottle, and connecting through culture. Every episode answers three essential questions most asked by Wine Oh! TV’s audience over the last decade: What is there to drink, what is there to do, and what is there to eat in each wine region.

This season Wine Oh! TV shines the spotlight on smaller wine regions with Umbria, Paso Robles, Mendocino, Walla Walla, and Lodi taking center stage. Wine Oh! TV is shot with the seasonal change in vineyards from bud break in March 2022, veraison in June, to harvest in September and October.

NEW THIS SEASON....

Wine Oh! TV Umbria: Our first episode of the new season features Umbria, Italy, the home of Saint Valentine, where he used a Sagrantino wine from the region to marry star-crossed lovers. Umbria is home to the land of the saints, a wine so big it’s nicknamed the beast, and with black gold abound, we discover why foodies from far and wide flock to this lesser known wine region. We meet the most prominent winemakers of the region, get cooking classes with the pros, try our hand at truffle hunting, and even make money, literally!

Wine Oh! TV Mendocino: Join the journey as Monique Soltani travels to one of California’s largest, greenest, and most authentic wine regions. Mendocino is often described as rugged, real, and refined and we find out why. With boots on the ground during bud break we walk the vines and make a Mendo Blendo, hit up a historic Hopland hot spot, bottle feed baby goats, and get a little sticky along the way!

Wine Oh! TV Walla Walla: Join the journey as Monique Soltani travels to the Pacific Northwest. We discover how Walla Walla grew from a wheat farming community at the base of the Blue Mountains into one of America’s most loved wine regions. We take a bite out of this tiny town (and their sweet onions) with a huge heart, meet two restaurateurs who nearly lost it all during the pandemic, we walk the rocks and find out why this unknown wine region has the capacity and the geography to make some of the best wines in the world.

Wine Oh! TV Lodi: Join the journey as Monique Soltani travels to California’s Central Valley. With the the largest collection of old vines in North America and winemaking dating back to the 1800’s, we learn why Lodi has earned its place in history. Meet a winemaker whose Grandfather came here during the Bracero Program and now he’s made the American dream a reality. We get hands on during harvest and learn what it takes to make wine from grape to glass, plus pizza making with a local pro whose family is rooted in the region.

Get to Know Grenache: Join the journey as Monique Soltani travels to the birthplace of Grenache. Shot exclusively on her iPhone Monique travels to the Roussillon region in France and the Aragon region of Spain. The sole purpose of this adventure is to get to the heart and soul of what makes the Grenache grape so great. Who better to help us understand one of the world’s most widely planted grapes than hearing first hand from the winemakers in their homeland.
