In this video, we'll take you on a tour of the best things to do in Wellington, so you can make the most of your visit to this exciting city.

First up, let's start with one of Wellington's most iconic landmarks - the Wellington Cable Car. Take a ride on this historic funicular railway to enjoy stunning views of the city and harbor from the top of the hill. From there, you can take a stroll through the beautiful Botanic Garden, featuring an array of exotic plants and trees.

Next, head to Te Papa Tongarewa, the national museum of New Zealand, which offers a fascinating insight into the country's history, culture, and natural environment. The museum's interactive exhibitions are perfect for all ages, and the admission is free.

For those looking for some outdoor adventure, make your way to Mount Victoria. This scenic lookout offers panoramic views of the city and is a popular spot for hiking and mountain biking. Alternatively, take a stroll along the Wellington Waterfront, where you can rent a bike, go for a swim, or grab a bite to eat at one of the many cafes and restaurants.

Wellington is also home to a thriving food and drink scene. Be sure to visit Cuba Street, a pedestrianized area lined with funky shops, bars, and restaurants. This is the perfect spot to try some of Wellington's famous coffee or sample some of the city's craft beer.

For those interested in film, be sure to visit the Weta Cave, home to the famous special effects company behind blockbuster films such as The Lord of the Rings and Avatar. Kapiti Island New Zealand's Best Kept Secret

Kapiti Island is one of New Zealand's, and the world's most incredible nature reserves, full flying and flightless birdlife. Let me take you on a bird spotting adventure from my little corner of the world. ????

Filmed on a Panasonic Lumix GH5, graded and edited in Premiere Pro.
Drone shots on a Mavic 2 Pro.

Script -
There’s a reason why so many people travel to New Zealand from overseas, just to experience our rich and biodynamic environment, filled with some of the most incredible bird life in the world.
I’ve heard first hand stories of people spending thousands of dollars just to witness some of our flying and flightless wonders, and it piqued my curiosity just to find out why.

Graciously lying just 5km off the North Island’s west coast sits Kapiti Island, arguably New Zealand’s , and one of the worlds, most biodynamically rich nature reserves, and it just so happens to be right in my backyard.

It was my mission to photograph and film as many native bird species I could come across, and lets just say, Kapiti Island certainly delivered.

We set up camp in one of Kapiti’s stunning glamping tents, greeted by one of our many birds of prey, the Kahu, or more commonly known as the Swamp Harrier. Patrolling a good 2 square kilometres of forest, the Kahu put on a good show for us, filmed at 100 frames per second.

We’d set upon our mission up to the highest point of Kapiti Island, passing some of the resident Takahe that live on the island, followed by a Toutouwai, or North Island Robin, who’d prey on insects from the scuffing of our footsteps.

We had Weka prey on our food, almost dog like with their confidence.
And of course, for me this was a hero of the trip, a Kaka, the clown of the forest.
Generally heard before they’re seen, the Kaka can be found all over Wellington, thanks to the conservation efforts of the Zealandia Eco sanctuary, and the work they do here on Kapiti Island keeping it predator and pest free. Related to the larger alpine Parrot the Kea, the Kaka is one of New Zealand’s most spectacular forest birds.
Reaching the very top of Kapiti Island, we saw more Weka, and even got shot of a Kereru, our clumsy yet gracious wood pigeon.

As night settled in, the little blue penguins made home under the deck of the cabins, and we set off for a dusk adventure, lucky enough to get a short glimpse of our national hero, the North Island little spotted kiwi.

it was really special to see first hand the way that our conservation efforts have allowed our eco system to flourish, and like a time capsule, Kapiti island is a real representation of what life was once like here in New Zealand.

There are plenty of top attractions that you can visit when visiting Wellington New Zealand! From its quaint harbors, The 18 mile (29 kilometer) Hutt river, the Kapiti Coast and Kapiti Island, the Wairarapa region, the waterfronts of Wellington, and the famous and windy princess bay.

If you are exhausted from traveling the whole day on an island, don't burnout yourself and take a day off tomorrow by visiting the shopping center of Wellington. Indulge in a fine dining restaurant, rent a yacht in the waters of Wellington, or maybe visit the famous museums of Wellington.

There are plenty of activities that you can do in every different New Zealand attraction like swimming, waterskiing, windsurfing, jet skiing, yachting, fishing, golfing, biking, and kayaking! When planning a visit and you want to yacht during your free time without thinking of the weather, then the visiting window should be December to March. These months are the summer time of New Zealand, temperatures hovering from 68 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit (20 degrees to 30 degrees Celsius), a perfect temperature while cruising down the water of Wellington.

????️ Queen Elizabeth Park on the Kapiti Coast - New Zealand's Biggest Gap Year

Day 71: Today we are checking out the walks in Queen Elizabeth Park along the Kapiti Coast of New Zealand! Join us for a free thing to do on the Kapiti Coast!

Yesterday - Day 70 -

Tomorrow – Day 72 –

About this video:

Today we are checking out an awesome free thing to do on the Kapiti Coast, walking in Queen Elizabeth Park. We head to Queen Elizabeth Park in Kapiti which is just off the main highway in New Zealand to walks through rolling sand dunes with regenerating vegetation on them.

Along the sand dunes in Queen Elizabeth Park in Kapiti is a long stretching beach with awesome views of Kapiti Island out to sea. We head down to the beach to capture some photos and get some awesome views around Queen Elizabeth Park on the Kapiti Coast.

After struggling our way back up onto the sand dunes in Queen Elizabeth Park, we continue on the loop back around to the start with our shoes full of sand but still feeling epic after our walk in Queen Elizabeth Park in Kapiti.

Our day ends with a barbeque back at Moana Lodge in Plimmerton where we are staying for a couple of days as we explore the Kapiti Coast and the Wellington suburbs.

So what do you think of Queen Elizabeth Park on the Kapiti Coast? Is Queen Elizabeth Park somewhere you would stop off on your way to Wellington?

With dramatic scenery, greenery, long stretches of coast and soaring mountains, New Zealand is a natural playground. Accessibility really sets New Zealand apart from other countries, with a new golf course to try around every corner. Travel from alpine areas to idyllic beachside locations within a few hours. It’s no wonder that golf is the sport with the highest participation from New Zealanders, for both men and women.

New Zealand has more than 400 golf courses. A selection of these have been hand-picked by industry experts and categorised into Marquee Courses and Experience Courses. Marquee golf courses are highly aspirational, with much international interest. Experience golf courses are clustered around the marquee courses and have a fantastic local vibe and charm. #golflifestyle #lovegolf #golfstagram #pgatour #golfislife #golfcoach #golftips #instagolf #golfer #golflife #golf #golfing #golfclub #golfcourse #golfer #golfpass #golfstagram #golfshots #golfaddict #golfswing #golffun #golfcart #golfinstruction #golfcoach #lovegolf #golfusa #golfuk #pga #pgatour #titleist #tigerwoods #golfview #golfviews #viewsfordays #views???? #golfers #golflife #golfing⛳️ #golferslife #golftravellertag

Views of Paraparaumu, NZ, 28-10-2014

A video I have created from photos I took today, 28th October, 2014. Showing views of Paraparaumu, as it is now, but within 1 year, with an expressway in progress being built, and a 4 lane highway cutting a swath though the centre of the Kapiti Coast, and changing the landscape as we know it is now. I will create a similar video, when the expressway is completed, and can compare the 2 landscapes then
