The river Vaigai flows through Paramakudi on its way to the Bay of Bengal. NH 87 and AH 43 passes through this town, which connects the rest of the district to Sivaganga. பரமக்குடி (ஆங்கிலம்:Paramakudi), இந்தியாவின் தமிழ்நாடு மாநிலத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள இராமநாதபுரம் மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள பரமக்குடி வட்டத்தின் நிர்வாகத் தலைமையிட நகரமும், நகராட்சியும் ஆகும்.இது வைகை நதியின் கரையில் அமைந்திருக்கிறது. இந்நகரம் மதுரை - இராமேஸ்வரம் தேசிய நெடுஞ்சாலை எண் 49 இன் மத்தியில் உள்ளது.
வரலாற்று ரீதியாக இந்த பகுதி பாண்டியர்களின் வம்சத்தால் ஆட்சி செய்யப்பட்டது, இது எந்த அரசரின் தலைமையிடமல்ல, ஆனால் பாண்டியர்களாலும் பின்னர் ராமநாதபுரம் ராஜா சேதுபதியின் ஆட்சியினாலும் ஆட்சி செய்யப்பட்டது. பண்டைய காவிய ராமாயணத்தின் படி, ராம ராமாவுக்கு எதிராக ராவணனுக்கு எதிரான போர் தொடங்கியது, இங்கு 45 நிமிடங்கள் பயணம் செய்யும் சேது கால்வாய். 1964 ஆம் ஆண்டில் பரமக்குடி, எமனேஸ்வரம் ஆகிய இரு நகரங்களையும் இணைத்து பரமக்குடி நகராட்சி உருவாக்கப்பட்டது.

Even for people from Southern Tamilnadu, this place is not known. It is also known as Thenmaruthur ( as the Sthala vruksham is Marutham ) or Dakshina Arjunam, Vasuki Theertham is just outside the temple.

Uthirakosamangai Temple is also known as Mangalanatha Swamy Temple and it is located in Ramanathapuram District of Tamil Nadu. It is one of the most ancient Shiva temples. It comes under the Ramanathapuram Samasthanam Devasthanam and the Sethupathi Maharaja family is the hereditary trustee. This temple is believed to be the native of Lord Shiva and the place where the world’s first Natarajar appeared. This temple is worshipped by all the Rishis, sages and Siddhars of the world. The temple was built even before the appearance of the Navagrahas. The temple dates back to four eras. The temple was built by a thousand Shiva servants who attained Moksha at the same time.
