Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary is a forest in the Telangana state of India's Bhadradri Kothagudem district. The wildlife sanctuary covers 635.40 km (157,010 acres) and is centred on the scenic Kinnerasani Lake, which is surrounded by thickly wooded islets. The district headquarters, Kothagudem, is 15 kilometres (9.3 miles) away, while Temple Town Bhadrachalam is 25 kilometres (16 miles).
The Kinnerasani Dam is built on the Kinnerasani River. This river is a major tributary of the Godavari River. The environment along the Kinnerasani River creates a panoramic beauty that is surrounded by thick greenery. The Kinnerasani project, also known as the Dam, is a storage reservoir located in Yanamboil village in Palvoncha mandal on the Kinnerasani River in the Godavari Basin. It was finished in 1966 at a cost of Rs. 558.00 lakhs and opened by Indira Gandhi, the then-Prime Minister of India. It serves farmers with irrigation and water to the KTPS at Palvoncha, which generates thermal electricity.
At the full reservoir level of 407 feet, the dam has a storage capacity of 233 Cu.M.
It is situated in Telangana's Bhadradri Kothagudem District, surrounded by gorgeous hills and deep woods. The river runs through the Dandakaranya forest, and the reservoir creates the Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary, a 635-square-kilometer region abundant with wildlife. The dam is 24 kilometres from Kothagudem and 12 kilometres from Palvancha, where the Kothagudem Thermal Power Station is located. The dam is accessible by road from Hyderabad (288 kilometres), Khammam (95 kilometres), and Vijyawada (165 kms). The nearest railway station is Kothagudem.At the full reservoir level of 407 feet, the dam has a storage capacity of 233 Cu.M.

In the Khammam District, a dam known as the Kinnerasani Dam is built on this river. The back waters of the dam are surrounded by verdant hills and come to be protected under the precincts of the Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary. The river drains on the right bank of Godavari in Telangana and forms common boundary between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states before its confluence with main Godavari river.
Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary is a forest located in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, Telangana state of India. The wildlife sanctuary is spread over an area of 635.40 km2 (157,010 acres) with the picturesque Kinnerasani Lake with densely forested islands in the middle of the sanctuary. It is 15 km (9.3 mi) from the district Headquarter Kothagudem and 25 km (16 mi) from Temple Town Bhadrachalam.
