Exploring BRASOV, ROMANIA and a Trip to PELES CASTLE in SINAIA, ROMANIA

Brasov, Romania is one of the most popular tourist cities in Romania. And for good reason! Brasov is only about 2.5 hours away from Romania’s capital city, Bucharest, by car or train. Here are more interesting things to see and do in the picturesque city of Brasov:

???????? *Best Tours & Experiences in Brasov:*
???? Bran Castle, Rasnov Fortress, and Peles Castle:
???? 7 Ladders Canyon Day Trip:

We barely had a chance to scratch the surface on our short trip, but we had an amazing time. You could easily spend several days traveling around Brasov and to surrounding locations like Bran Castle (aka Dracula’s castle), and Rasnov fortress, or drive into the surrounding Carpathian Mountains to explore more of Romania’s beautiful nature.

One of Europe’s most exquisite castles, Peles Castle is located in the city of Sinaia, only about one hour from Brasov by car or train. Sinaia is between Bucharest and Brasov. You could easily go there on a day trip from either city.

Peles castle was constructed for King Carol I who fell in love with the surrounding magnificent mountain scenery. We absolutely recommend a visit to this stunning castle if you have the time. You might even want to stay longer in Sinaia, a popular destination for hiking and winter sports in Romania.

Have you visited Brașov or Peleș Castle? Let us know in the comments and please share any recommendations you have for future visitors!

SIBIU in ROMANIA ~ Transylvania’s “City with Eyes” a MUST Visit!

Sibiu, Romania is located in the center of the country in Transylvania. It has been nicknamed “The City with Eyes” due to the unique ventilation windows on many of the rooftops of old homes that look like eyes peering out at people down below. You might feel like you’re being watched as you walk around town! ????????

???????? *Best Tours & Experiences in Sibiu:*
???? Sibiu City Sightseeing tour:
???? Medieval City Smartphone Exploration Game:
???? Guided E-Bike Tour:

???????? *Day Trips From Sibiu:*
????‍♂️ Brasov and Dracula’s Castle:
???? Corvin’s Castle & Alba Iulia Guided Day Trip:

Sibiu is an absolutely gorgeous city! We loved wandering around aimlessly and finding interesting and beautiful things to see around every corner. Both the upper and lower parts of the old town are walkable and pedestrian-friendly, though the upper area of town has more to see and do.

There are several squares of various sizes in the old city center where special events are held and people gather. While we were there, a film festival and a book festival were taking place in the large and small squares.

The city has a long history with German and Hungarian influences, among others, which can be seen in the architecture, food, cultural events, and people. Sibiu has long been an important center for trade and for craftsmen. Many areas of Sibiu are well-preserved including some medieval fortifications. The old center of Sibiu is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

We’re sure no matter what time of year you visit Sibiu you won’t be disappointed. It is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Romania and was voted “Europe's 8th-most idyllic place to live” by Forbes in 2008. If you’ve only got time to visit a few places in Romania, we recommend adding Sibiu to your itinerary!

Cluj-Napoca is the second-largest city in Romania. It's also the host of the annual Untold Music Festival and many other big events throughout the year.

Cluj is considered Romania's Silicon Valley and many tech companies are based in the city. As a result, housing prices are pretty high too. These are all fun facts we learned from our new friends at Finesse Gelato and Prosecco, which you should definitely visit when you go to the city. Obviously, there are many other great things to do and eat besides alcohol and ice cream :) EDIT: We mistakenly said their chef is a Michelin star chef but they are not. We misunderstood. The gelato is still excellent!
