Top 10 Best Places To Live In New Zealand (NEW) - Heaven On Earth

New Zealand is one of the world’s best places to live and retire, best place to raise your family. It has a very pleasant climate, great beaches, a wide variety of outdoor activities, cultural attractions, free health care
(for the most part), a good educational system, economic freedom, a lack of corruption and attractive, modern cities.
Known for the stunning landscapes featured in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings.
New Zealand is comprised of two big islands called North Island and South Island, plus numerous smaller islands.
It is located in the southwestern Pacific Ocean and is very geographically isolated.
Its nearest neighbors are Australia, which is 1242 miles to the northwest, and New Caledonia, Fiji and Tonga to the north.
The population of New Zealand is 4,334,000, the majority of whom are of European descent.
The largest minority are the native Maori. There are also a significant number of non-Maori Polynesians and Asians – especially in urban areas.
If you're thinking of moving to New Zealand, you'll need to decide where you're going to live.
Learn more about best places to live in New Zealand here, and decide where in the country you should settle.

Auckland can be a great place to begin, you can rent accommodation easily within the city

Whilst the nation is not vast or overpopulated, it does encompass such an impressive array of geographically
different regions that it would be a crime not to explore far more of the country than its leading city before you settle on a place in New Zealand to call home.

What's it like to take New Zealand's WORLD FAMOUS Ferry?

Watch this New Zealand Travel Guide to get a sense of what it’s like to travel the 58 miles over three+ hours from New Zealand’s South Island to the North Island in the comfort of New Zealand’s Interislander Ferry, the Kaitaki..

Join us as we travel across the Cook Strait from the Picton at the top of the South Island to New Zealand’s bustling capital of Wellington on the North Island aboard the Kaitaki ferry!

This is only the second time we’ve made a video highlighting a ferry and it was incredible!

Kiwirail runs this ferry as part of its Great Journeys of New Zealand brand, which is an apt name. They also run the TranzAlpine, Coastal Pacific, and Great Northern trains. The schedules line up to make it possible to travel by rail and ferry all the way from Christchurch to Auckland and back using these services.

We splurged for the lounge access to make this a luxury travel experience. That means you get to see the Kaitaki Plus Lounge where we indulged in the range of food and drinks they make available. You’ll have to be the judge of whether it’s worth the increased price for you. For the latest pricing and schedules, check out this website:

You’ll also see the other amenities onboard, including the restaurants, bars, food, and drinks.

And, if you stick around to the end, I’ll even rate it using the JebScore!

Top 10 Things To Do in WHANGANUI!

Wondering what to do when you're in Whanganui? Here are ten of my favourite activities that you can enjoy while you're in 'The River City'.

The heart of Whanganui is the Whanganui River, and it's the perfect place to start your exploration. Try renting a couple of electric bicycles and cycling past the beautiful Upokangoro bridge to Mosquito Point, the best place to swim in the river. If you don't feel like getting wet, try taking a ride on the Waimarie - New Zealand's only remaining coal powered paddle steamer.

Another iconic location in Whanganui is the Durie Hill Memorial Tower and Elevator. Take a walk through the long tunnel that leads to the elevator, ride up and then enjoy the views from the tower!

Next, spend some time in Rotokowau / Virgina Lake Reserve, where you can feed the ducks or take a look at the Winter Gardens.

If it's a Saturday when you're visiting, be sure to experience the River Traders Market where you'll find food stalls, crafts and live music every weekend. The market is also a good place to set off from on a tour of Whanganui's many murals and street art.

A little outside of town you can find the extensive Paloma Gardens or the fully predator fenced Bushy Park, depending on whether you prefer your nature wild or tamed.

Whanganui has lovely black sand beaches to visit too - try the Castlecliff Beach in the suburb of the same name, or drive a little further to Kai Iwi Beach, with its impressive sandstone cliffs.

Last up, spend an afternoon or an evening in the Drews Avenue precinct with its colourful buildings, streetside seating, gardens and cafes. Drews Avenue is also where you'll find my favourite bar in Whanganui - Porridge Watson!

Kapiti Island New Zealand's Best Kept Secret

Kapiti Island is one of New Zealand's, and the world's most incredible nature reserves, full flying and flightless birdlife. Let me take you on a bird spotting adventure from my little corner of the world. ????

Filmed on a Panasonic Lumix GH5, graded and edited in Premiere Pro.
Drone shots on a Mavic 2 Pro.

Script -
There’s a reason why so many people travel to New Zealand from overseas, just to experience our rich and biodynamic environment, filled with some of the most incredible bird life in the world.
I’ve heard first hand stories of people spending thousands of dollars just to witness some of our flying and flightless wonders, and it piqued my curiosity just to find out why.

Graciously lying just 5km off the North Island’s west coast sits Kapiti Island, arguably New Zealand’s , and one of the worlds, most biodynamically rich nature reserves, and it just so happens to be right in my backyard.

It was my mission to photograph and film as many native bird species I could come across, and lets just say, Kapiti Island certainly delivered.

We set up camp in one of Kapiti’s stunning glamping tents, greeted by one of our many birds of prey, the Kahu, or more commonly known as the Swamp Harrier. Patrolling a good 2 square kilometres of forest, the Kahu put on a good show for us, filmed at 100 frames per second.

We’d set upon our mission up to the highest point of Kapiti Island, passing some of the resident Takahe that live on the island, followed by a Toutouwai, or North Island Robin, who’d prey on insects from the scuffing of our footsteps.

We had Weka prey on our food, almost dog like with their confidence.
And of course, for me this was a hero of the trip, a Kaka, the clown of the forest.
Generally heard before they’re seen, the Kaka can be found all over Wellington, thanks to the conservation efforts of the Zealandia Eco sanctuary, and the work they do here on Kapiti Island keeping it predator and pest free. Related to the larger alpine Parrot the Kea, the Kaka is one of New Zealand’s most spectacular forest birds.
Reaching the very top of Kapiti Island, we saw more Weka, and even got shot of a Kereru, our clumsy yet gracious wood pigeon.

As night settled in, the little blue penguins made home under the deck of the cabins, and we set off for a dusk adventure, lucky enough to get a short glimpse of our national hero, the North Island little spotted kiwi.

it was really special to see first hand the way that our conservation efforts have allowed our eco system to flourish, and like a time capsule, Kapiti island is a real representation of what life was once like here in New Zealand.

When planning a visit and you want to yacht during your free time without thinking of the weather, then the visiting window should be December to March. Earth's Secret 8th Continent ???? (EXPLAINED)

Otaki, New Zealand

Otaki (Ōtaki) is located on New Zealand State Highway 1 and the North Island Main Trunk railway between Wellington and Auckland and marks the northernmost point of the Wellington Region. The town is situated at the northern end of the Kāpiti Coast, close to the banks of the Ōtaki River, 4 kilometres from its outflow into the Tasman Sea.
The surrounding district includes Te Horo and Manakau and the beach settlement at Waikawa Beach. The district is agricultural, with market gardens and lifestyle blocks.
Both State Highway 1 and the North Island Main Trunk railway passes through the town, connecting it with Paraparaumu and Wellington to the south and Levin, Palmerston North and ultimately Auckland in the north. The highway through the town and especially the roundabout with Mill Road are a known traffic bottleneck; at holiday periods, Wellington-bound traffic can queue for up to 4 kilometres north of the roundabout. The Peka Peka to Ōtaki section of the Kapiti Expressway (SH1) began construction in July 2017. When completed, the expressway will allow State Highway 1 through traffic to bypass the town. # New Zealand Drive # Visit New Zealand # NZ Driving # Travel to New Zealand # NZ Virtual Tour # Visit Otaki

Things to see & do in Wellington, New Zealand Part 2 - Filipino living in New Zealand

The Wellington cable car service opened for business in February 1902. Located in Lambton Quay, Wellington this is the only operating funicular in New Zealand. Return fare for adults is $9.00. The cable car runs every 10 minutes. One-way trip takes approximately 10 minutes. Light in the tunned is an added attraction. Once you reach the top, you get off and you can walk around the observation platform. You get breath taking views of Wellington City.

In the 1800s land was scarce in Wellington. The first big reclamation took place in the 1960s and 1970s. Much of the Wellington waterfront is reclaimed land. There are numerous entry points to the waterfront. The best way to explore is to walk around. The promenade is one of the busiest part of the waterfront. There are plenty of things to see and do as you stroll along.

The floating crane is said to be the world’s oldest ship of this type still in operation. This floating crane was built in Scotland in 1926. It served the Wellington Harbour until the mid-1980s.

Solace in the Wind (aka Naked Man) – This is the statue of a naked man overlooking the Wellington Harbour. It was first installed in 2008. This iconic sculpture is Wellington’s and New Zealand’s much-loved artwork. According to the sculptor, and I quote ‘The figure is not only an expression of pain but evokes this desire to be alone with your thoughts.’

The Wellington Harbour Board Wharf Office Building is a historic building built in 1894. It currently houses 25 luxurious inner-city apartments and the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts.

Paddy the Wanderer is a celebrity dog looked after by waterside workers, seaman, and taxi drivers from 1928 – 1939.

Hire a kayak and explore Wellington’s waterways.

Whairepo lagoon is connected to the Wellington Harbour. It is surrounded by buildings such as The Boat Shed, Te Raukura buildings, and the City To Sea Bridge.

Opened to the public in 1994, the City To Sea Bridge is a pedestrian bridge that connects the city to the waterfront.

One of the buildings that you can see from the bridge is the Te Wharewaka O Poneke building. It is known for its unique design based on korowai (cloak) signifying mana and prestige. This building is used for conferences and special functions.
